Spectrum sent our street notice last week...they are upgrading our street’s lines, and we’re on a 6am-4pmET watch for down internet. So, I’m going to take the day off in that time period as much as I can. I’m gonna run some errands and nap and get ready for 2nd shift work only today.

Week 1 projections update, Injury updates.
-- HEADLINE: Falcons announced Tua Tagovailoa will start in Week 1 against the Steelers.
They couldn’t get Penix healthy in time, which falls in our preseason medical projections. The fact that the Falcons were trying to take it down to the last hours...they don’t want to go forward with Tua, but they are forced to.
Possibly, one of the worst offseasons in personnel management from any team I’ve seen in my 15+ years studying the NFL...the Atlanta Falcons are set to try to prove me right or wrong, and it begins with Tua...probably for several weeks...and then it’s too late...and I don’t know that Penix is answer either.

-- INJURY: Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said LG Tyler Smith will undergo thumb surgery and be sidelined for four to six weeks.
These O-Line injuries...not good man, not good. This sets back an already weak Dallas team right off the jump. Their first 7 games are two division rivals then five playoff level teams in a row.
-- HEADLINE: The Giants released WR Darius Slayton.
I’m sure words were exchanged about Slayton being mad he wasn’t starting or something. Malachi Fields was named the #2 starter with Nabers. Surely, Slayton is headed to Tennessee to be Brian Daboll on that sinking ship. His FF-relevance is over, assumedly.

-- Cardinals HC Mike LaFleur said he feels “good” about Jeremiyah Love’s (ankle) chances of playing in Week 1 against the Chargers.
-- Titans LB Cedric Gray is in concussion protocol.
-- Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald said Zach Charbonnet (knee) is on target to meet his “aggressive” timetable for a return.
-- TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) did not practice on Monday.
-- Chargers RB Keaton Mitchell was seen practicing on Monday.
-- Colts HC Shane Steichen said Alec Pierce (ankle) is expected to play in Week 1 against the Ravens.
-- Rome Odunze (leg) was not seen practicing on Monday. Odunze suffered a leg injury on Thursday. The Athletic’s Dan Wiederer said later in the day that the belief is that Odunze “should be all good” after the injury scare, but it’s something to keep an eye on this week.

-- Emeka Egbuka (toe) practiced on Monday.
-- Jonathon Brooks (soreness) was seen working off to the side with trainers on Monday.
-- 49ers WR Mike Evans said the injuries he was dealing with in training camp were not “significant.”
-- Christian McCaffrey was not spotted at the early portion of Monday’s practice.

-- HEADLINE: ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Seahawks RB Jadarian Price “is going to be a big factor,” but the team will use “two or three” running backs this year.
Still...people don’t believe that George Holani is not going to get real touches. He may lead the Seahawks RB group in FF scoring per game the first few weeks...or just be ‘something, not nothing’. And he is for sure the proper handcuff. I’d way rather have Holani than Saylors or a few other handcuff hopefuls.
-- SCOUTING: I was watching LAC rookie OC/OG Jake Slaughter preseason tape...he looked very good. He looks ready to not be a problem. LAC lost starting center Tyler Biadasz for the season already...a huge hit to the offense, but Slaughter is a massive depth option/insurance...and is our #1-2 top-rated OC from the 2026 draft.
The Chargers have some guard issues but not as bad at center and they may have the best 1-2 punch tackles in the NFL. Still potentially the best O-Line in the league.
-- HEADLINE: Giants signed QB Jameis Winston to a two-year, $13 million extension through 2028.
Good for him. He deserves it. Arguably the best backup QB in the league. Gives NYG a leg up on the NFC East having that insurance. Jalen Hurts better not get hurt.
