Today/tomorrow

 -- Preseason games week! Reports will be out as fast as we can do them properly. Week 3’s reports will be spread out through Labor Day weekend.

 -- DRD Mock Draft series 3.0 wraps one of these days...MON-WED. Distracted by 53 man roster stuff right now.

 -- Devy Series ...probably done with Devy for the season. Got behind and too many NFL live bullets flying overhead. Sorry, we couldn’t do our usual amount. If I get some time when the preseason ends and before the NFL season begins, we’ll try to sneak in a few more.

 -- Miscellaneous reports on things that come my way and more scouting reports to come. I have a backlog of them to get published already.

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- TRADE: Falcons acquired DL Gervon Dexter from the Bears in exchange for DB Clark Phillips and a fifth-round pick.

HEADLINE: Bears placed DB Kyler Gordon on the reserve/physically unable to perform list with a calf injury.

The Bears had had it with Gordon’s issues, injuries just a part of it. The Bears needed to do something to fix this situation.

I’m not going to repeat myself here because I wrote about it in the TEN-CHI game report yesterday...but just note this is A BIG DEAL. Make sure you read why in that game report.

 -- HEADLINE: NFL placed Packers RB Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner Exempt List.

Well, it’s real now.

So many players have been getting case pushed off into the future and the NFL would then wait for the court case to finalize.

That video tape must be the smoking gun beyond what we all speculated due to the ‘misdemenor’ label on his arrest. I’d assume the worst for Jacobs now. Six game suspension minimum you have to bake in, and if it’s less for a JJ owner then ‘bullet dodged’ to some degree. https://x.com/ConnorAllenNFL/status/2094139297536623101

 -- TRADE: Packers acquired RB Kaleb Johnson from the Steelers for a sixth-round pick.

The Packers had to do something. This is something. A guy about to get cut, they stepped in front of the line and grabbed him for more than a typical 7th-rpund pick exchange. I’m sure GB is not done yet. There’s no way they can go forward depending heavily upon Marshawn Lloyd.

Kaleb was looking better to me this preseason...there looks to be room for some hope, but he needs to prove it for real. He’s about to get the chance.

GB may make a move for like a Tyrone Tracy and piss off FF owners of Lloyd or Kaleb. Kareem Hunt is possible. I bet they’d like to have gotten A.J. Dillon back, but the Panthers kept him on the roster...which is more bad news for Jon Brooks. GB would be wise to snag/add TB RB Josh Williams since they tried to be slick and cut him to try to stash on the practice squad.

 -- HEADLINE: Colts WR Keenan Allen was arrested early on Sunday morning and charged with DWI and DWI endangering a person.

He was arrested while sitting in a car, not a moving violation. Probably not a suspension.

Here’s some footage of the scene: https://x.com/ghetto_gronk/status/2094122356759224654

 -- HEADLINE: Dolphins waived RB Jarquez Hunter.

 Atwell survived the cuts for now...

== INJURY CENTER ==

 -- When you play too well and show up the dipstick head coach: Browns placed QB Dillon Gabriel (back) on injured reserve.

 -- Packers placed Micah Parsons (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.

 -- Lions place S Brian Branch on the reserve/physically unable to perform list with an Achilles injury.

 -- Ravens placed Adam Randall on injured reserve.

 -- Panthers placed Ikem Ekwonu (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.

 -- 49ers placed DL Mykel Williams (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.

 -- Saints placed RB Devin Neal on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.

 -- Seahawks placed Zach Charbonnet (knee) on the PUP list.

 -- Bears coach Ben Johnson said Luther Burden (hamstring) looks “100 percent.”

  -- @DhananiZain: Heavy speculation here but it seems like we don’t have much detail on Keaton Mitchell even from sources like @alexinsdorf99  who is plugged in with the team. Could be minor but also could be a multi-game absence

 == QUOTES & QUOTABLES ==

 -- 49ers TE George Kittle (Achilles) hasn’t had any setbacks and is expected to practice this week, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

 -- Rams signed DT Aaron Donald to a one-year, $20 million contract.

The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports that the NFL has granted a two-game roster exemption for Rams DT Aaron Donald.

 -- The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reports the NFL will place Broncos EDGE Jonathan Cooper on the commissioner’s exempt list.

 -- Saints waived Charlie Smyth. RC NOTE: signed to a 3yr deal in the offseason, now cut. I don’t know what happened.

 -- Buccaneers agreed to terms with RB Sean Tucker on a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

 -- Dolphins acquired QB Kyle McCord from the Packers in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

 -- NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jalon Daniels has earned the Bucs’ backup quarterback spot.

 == Daily Series ==

New series: BEST Organization.

From the perspective of thinking of the organization as a ‘stock’...would I buy this stock, which one would I want over all the teams/stocks? Considering their current everything...current Owner, current GM, Current coaching staff, roster, and geography. Not for wins-losses, but quality of the organization as a whole.

We’ll add a team a day (alpha order) and just rank them and tier them as we go...this will take us to the start of the season. https://x.com/NFLDraftDome/status/2087593886067593509

--------------

LA Rams, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Buffalo

Kansas City, Denver, Indianapolis, LA Chargers, Carolina, Detroit, Cincinnati, Philadelphia (passionate fan base, one of the top teams of the past decade...but on the slight/slow decline)

Dallas, Minnesota, Green Bay, New Orleans

Atlanta, Miami, NY Giants, New England, Baltimore, Arizona

NY Jets (bad organization, coaching staff no one wants to play for, Fireman Ed), Cleveland
