8/24 MON

(8:24amET)

Today/tomorrow

 -- Working on a Dynasty Rankings update for later today.

Have a bunch of medical stuff this afternoon, so hopefully I’m in good shape to keep working!

 -- Tuesday night Video Q&A will be at 9pmET, instead of the usual 8:30pmET. It Fantasy draft season, so every night the rest of the preseason gets crowded.

 -- Preseason games week! Reports will be out as fast as we can do them properly.

 -- New Two Scouts Talking YouTube Video drops today or tomorrow. Subscribe to that channel (it’s free) so when a new video drops, you get notified and it goes to the top of your feed when you’re looking for something to kill time with).

 -- DRD Mock Draft series 3.0 goes on a pause...we’ll pick it back up after all the Week 1 preseason games, to see how things will have changed after people get to see players.

 -- Devy Series ...probably done with Devy for the season. Got behind and too many NFL live bullets flying overhead. Sorry, we couldn’t do our usual amount. If I get some time when the preseason ends and before the NFL season begins, we’ll try to sneak in a few more.

 -- Miscellaneous reports on things that come my way and more scouting reports to come. I have a backlog of them to get published already.

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

 -- FIRST REPORT: Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty “got hurt in practice today and could not put pressure on his leg when leaving the field.”

SECOND REPORT: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty “is believed to have sprained his ankle,” and it is not considered a long-term injury.

First report sent the FF community into a tizzy. Ross reported redrafts taking place after the news hit had Jeanty falling several round back and pushing Mike Washington WAY up. Now, it looks like just a sprained ankle of some kind.

Wow.

The injuries are happening at an alarming rate. We all need to buckle up for this season, I have feeling it will be an injury-o-rama.

And it’s gonna be painful when a key injury hits your team, but don’t ever despair...but especially don’t despair this season. Mass injuries and chaos is to our FF-advantage--we know the backups and situations with them better than anyone on the planet, in my humble opinion.

Do your best in a redraft draft day, but you’re not winning your league because of the draft...but you do want to kill it. You will win your league by leading the league in transactions and rejected trade offers...and possibly people in your league mocking and laughing at your redraft if it’s your first go ‘round with FFM redraft plan. Believe me after you finish with this initial season, the moves you will make--it’s the last time they will laugh. The laughter will turn to fear/respect by the time we progress through the season and then forever.

You either draft and play this game to gain the approval of people who think they are experts, but they are not (really just trying to avoid criticism from know-it-alls). Or you play it to quietly crush everybody by being 1-10 steps ahead in waivers and trades and get yourself in position to go all the way. Whether you win the actual title...that’s up to God. Our mission is to make you the most respected and feared personnel person in your league. Titles typically go our way at an above average rate along with that.

Where was I? Oh, Jeanty appears to be fine/not a devastating injury. Whether he misses a game or two, we’ll see. I know this...Mike Washington is now a 1st-round DRD ADP from here on in.  He was already working his way there but this scare will put him over the top and into the DRD first round and he kinda deserves it.

 -- There's been word going around the Internet from some beat reporters notes or something that Sean Tucker is going to be the goal line back for the Buccaneers (because he had a rushing TD in a meaningless preseason game Saturday).

I will make you two predictions about the TB backfield, that I would be willing to bet on...

1: Sean Tucker will not be the goal line back for the Bucs this season.

2: It's gonna be hard for Tucker to become the goal line back for Tampa when he will be cut in a couple of weeks and Josh Williams is pronounced the #3 RB on the Buccaneers, as he makes the 53 man roster.

I wish I could bet on that, but we're not that advanced yet in the predictive markets yet.

 -- HEADLINE: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Browns coach Todd Monken will name the team’s starting quarterback on Monday.

I have no idea who he is going to start, but I assume Watson...let him get crushed and then turn to Shedeur as a savior.

If they start Shedeur, and they should, and when he then fails...the fans will crush him. They can protect Shedeur for a bit by letting him be #2 for 1-2 weeks and then coming in for some hopeium.

 -- X NEWS: According to @grantcohn:  Jordan Watkins leapfrogged Deebo Samuel on the depth chart and started in place of De’Zhaun Stribling today. Deebo had all of his catches with the 2nd and 3rd string at practice.

This really makes no sense. I’m sure those events happened, but it reads like Deebo is now benched for Watkins or Stribling or both. If this hits the RotoBlurbs and scares everyone, I’m going on a Deebo shopping spree where I don’t have him already.

 -- This is a long read, but if you’re interested you’ll come to the obvious conclusion on Zach Ertz for 2026: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7518828/2026/08/18/chiefs-patrick-mahomes-zach-ertz-rehab-buddies/

== INJURY CENTER ==

 -- Interesting: https://x.com/CoachspeakIndex/status/2090954046458966384

 -- Chargers placed C Tyler Biadasz (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

 -- Browns placed DE Alex Wright (Achilles) on injured reserve, ending his season.

 -- @mattbarrows: RB Jordan James was back at practice today after a three-week rib injury. He looked sharp but mostly worked with the 2s while Kaelon Black was with the 1s. Black simply has practiced more than James this summer and is ahead as we head down the homestretch.

 -- Chargers WR Brenen Thompson (undisclosed) was seen practicing on Sunday.

 -- The Mercury News’ Cam Inman reports that 49ers WR Mike Evans (quad) left practice early as a “precautionary” measure.

 -- 49ers WR De’Zhaun Stribling (shoulder) resumed practicing in a non-contact jersey on Sunday.

 == QUOTES & QUOTABLES ==

 -- The Athletic’s Jon Machota believes Malik Davis will start the season as the Cowboys’ RB2.

 -- Giants coach John Harbaugh said there is “a chance” WR Malik Nabers (knee) sheds his red non-contact jersey this week.

 == Daily Series ==

New series: BEST Organization.

From the perspective of thinking of the organization as a ‘stock’...would I buy this stock, which one would I want over all the teams/stocks? Considering their current everything...current Owner, current GM, Current coaching staff, roster, and geography. Not for wins-losses, but quality of the organization as a whole.

We’ll add a team a day (alpha order) and just rank them and tier them as we go...this will take us to the start of the season. https://x.com/NFLDraftDome/status/2087593886067593509

--------------

LA Rams, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Buffalo

Kansas City, Denver, Indianapolis, LA Chargers (has a lot of things going for it but is the bastard team in LA and aren’t close to the Rams) Carolina, Detroit, Cincinnati

Dallas, Green Bay

Atlanta, Baltimore

Arizona

Cleveland
