2024 Pre-NFL Draft ‘Best Team in the NFL’ Tournament (Round-2/Sweet 16 Matchup #2: KC v. TEN)
It’s March madness time, so websites are federally mandated to do some kind of tournament styled something. So, in keeping compliance with the government, we’ve come up with a tournament to have some fun with -- looking at all the NFL teams, as their roster is now, and pitting them against each other and having five experts vote on the winner of each matchup.
This tournament is not ‘seeded’. It was a randomly generated matchup setup...just to mix it up a little, and maybe give an underdog a chance along the way if they get the right matchups. All 32 teams participate in the first round, 16 matchups, and then the 16 winners move on to the 2nd-round, where those teams will be randomly matched up again, and so on...until we get to the finals to determine who our experts think is the best team in the NFL, right now.
We’re going through this for fun, but also for some betting guidance...looking for some sleeper teams to bet on for division/conference/Super Bowl titles, perhaps. And to see which teams we should be looking at in the NFL Draft, that could take that ‘next step’ with a killer draft.
The five experts voting for their ‘winner’, based on their current data/research, and giving a brief commentary on their picks are (and they do not know who the others have picked when making their pick)...

Here’s what the experts think of today’s matchup:

KC v. TEN = (KC wins by 10.5) Sneed revenge game! Kansas City is in a different class than Tennessee. The Titans must address their offensive line early in the draft. I’m bullish on their second-year QB Will Levis; however, without the appropriate protection up front, KC’s defensive line will have a field day.
Tennessee bolstered their secondary through signing Chidobe Awuzie and trading for L’Jarius Sneed but it won’t matter much in this match up as KC would could lean on TE Travis Kelce and RB Isaih Pacheco.
RC
KC v. TEN = (KC wins 33-23) I‘m a huge Will Levis fan, but there’s no way the Titans are top-to-bottom better than the Chiefs. The Cinderella Titans (in this tournament)...are Cinderella no more. Tough draw for the upstart Titans.
Bet The Close Chris
KC v. TEN = (KC wins 31-13) I like TEN win total over 6.5 but I fear this may be the next in a long line of teams I bet a year too early. I believe TEN is more improved than most people seem to recognize but also not ready for prime time, KC gets an easy sweet 16 draw. Sneed can have a good game vs his old team but the gap in talent here is 5 projected season wins for good reason. CEH may even get some carries as this gets out of hand.
Ross Jacobs
KC vs TEN = (KC wins 27-17) Tennessee looks much improved over last year (assuming they sort out the tackle position at some point), but not nearly improved enough to take down the two-time defending champs. Chiefs roll on easily.
ChatFFM (forgive any typos...it’s still learning language and I’m not correcting them for it...it needs to learn -- and I am programming it to be more sarcastic than I/RC am...so, I’ll have someone to talk to all day in my office watching football tape)
KC v. TEN = (KC wins 84% of the simulations) No matter how good you think Will Levis could be, he’s not better than Mahomes (right now)...and then the Chiefs have the advantage at all the rest of the position groups on the field, including special teams. Easy win for KC here.
The Chiefs sweep the Titans 5-0, as expected.
