Analyzing the game tape for Dynasty/Fantasy purposes...

We’re back to the narrative that JJ McCarthy is terrible and needs to be replaced long term…because they lost this game. I don’t know why THEY have it out for him so bad, but THEY do.

JJM did not play his best game and the Vikings got down in the 3rd-quarter, after holding the lead all 1st-half, then the lead got extended to two scores in the 4th-quarter and the Vikings mounted a comeback attempt late but ran out of time.

The national narrative on this game is — the Vikings lost because of JJ McCarthy. That’s it. But that’s absurd. Not the JJM was great, but Lamar Jackson was no prize here either, but the media is in bed with Lamar so he can do no wrong. They’re trying to take out JJM for some reason, because they hyper focus on QBs for everything, so this game is now Jim’s fault.

How about that both of these teams are good with good defenses and they battled and a very good Ravens team that emerged victorious?

The Ravens are now within a game of 1st-place after their terrible start. They could be in 1st-place by the end of Week 11. Eventually they will win the AFC North...we project.

The Vikings are in last place but could be just a game out of first of all things go their way this week. We project the Vikings to 9 wins and a shot at a wild card but falling short. But winning the division or a wild card is still a possibility.

Player Notes…

 -- I watched a cut-up tape of just J.J. McCarthy (20-42 for 248 yards, 1 TD/2 INT, 5-48-1) in this game and I thought he was fine for where he is at in his career. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I see Year Two Bo Nix having some similar struggles from time-to-time. JJM is gonna be fine, but he needs time...playing time. He made some good plays here. He made some forced bad plays here. One pick was bad. One pick was a tipped pass. Why the media is trying to crush him at every turn I do not know.

 -- JJM is not going to be a high-volume passer yet (or maybe ever), so expectations have to be tempered for this season for his WRs…but a favorable schedule is lurking ahead in the FF playoff zone.

Justin Jefferson (4-37-0/12) is not his old self for FF-production but he is WR1-capable any given week especially if JJM settles in a bit more each week.

Jordan Addison (3-35-0/11) looks fine but suffered with some nice coverage and JJM missing some throws…but Jalen Nailor (5-124-1/6) playing a terrific game here. His breakout game. Several clutch catches for Nailor who gets better every week. I could see a 2026 world where Addison is traded and Nailor ascends to the #2 spot. Just a theory/wondering/hunch.

 -- Aaron Jones (9-47-1, 3-22-0/6) is definitely the RB to FF-have in the backfield over Jordan Mason (4-25-0, 1-6-0/1).

 -- Lamar Jackson (17-29 for 176 yards, 1 TD/0 INT, 9-36-0) struggled a bit with the Vikings defense here. He’s also a little banged up/not 100%. He should play this week but is questionable midweek.

 -- Derrick Henry (20-75-0, 3-9-0/3) looks totally fine...it’s just defenses are back to stacking everything to stop him...they’d rather take their chances with Lamar, which is a statement the NFL is making that the media does get. All you can do is FF-push Henry out there and hope he breaks through like he usually does/used to do.

Keaton Mitchell (4-31-0) continues to look like his proper handcuff/backup.

 -- The Ravens DST is on a bit of a roll now back to full health — they have held 4 straight opponents under 20 points in a game after a terrible, injured start...and they have a GREAT schedule the next 4 games.

Ahead

BAL = @CLE, NYJ, @MIN, @CLE (best schedule for the next 4 weeks for any DST)

MIN = CHI, @GB, @SEA, WSH, @DAL
