May 2021 Mock Dynasty Rookie Draft (Five Rounds) Series (#1.09 of 12)
For the next 12 days, I’ll be releasing a Mock Dynasty Rookie Draft daily -- ones I conducted using the FantasyPros mock draft tool as my platform.
I used FantasyPros’ PRO tools, so I bumped up the value of RBs for their A.I. to reflect reality a little better/favoring RB-lust that usually happens.
I’m going start the series from the #1 spot, and then move back and spot and do a new Mock Draft every day until I get through drafting from each of the 12 spots in a typical DRD. I will add some brief commentary as I see fit, to give you an idea of what I’m doing/seeing in recent DRDs happening.
Here we go…
From the #9 pick spot:
1.1 Ja'Marr Chase
1.2 Najee Harris
1.3 Trevor Lawrence
1.4 Travis Etienne
1.5 DeVonta Smith
1.6 Javonte Williams
1.7 Trey Lance
1.8 Kyle Pitts
1.9 Jaylen Waddle – Man, Pitts falling to 8th in this A.I. mock…that would never happen in reality. With my #9, I take the same guy I took (got stuck with) at #8 spot yesterday. I take Waddle in order to immediately trade him…no interest in Waddle + Tua, or anything + Tua.
1.10 Rashod Bateman
1.11 Rondale Moore
1.12 Kenneth Gainwell
--------------------------------------
2.1 Terrace Marshall
2.2 Justin Fields
2.3 Trey Sermon
2.4 Michael Carter
2.5 Tylan Wallace
2.6 Elijah Moore
2.7 Amon-Ra St. Brown
2.8 Kadarius Toney
2.9 Zach Wilson – If you give me Zach Wilson this late, I’ll take him.
2.10 Dyami Brown
2.11 Amari Rodgers
2.12 Jermar Jefferson
-------------------------------------
3.1 Pat Freiermuth
3.2 Chuba Hubbard
3.3 Mac Jones
3.4 D'Wayne Eskridge
3.5 Tamorrion Terry
3.6 Elijah Mitchell
3.7 Dez Fitzpatrick
3.8 Nico Collins
3.9 Kyle Trask – They stole Collins right before me, so I reached for Trask (hoping for a Brady injury play). I have little interest in anyone else around this pick with Eskridge and Collins gone. There’s not even a name that’s all that trade worthy for anything to take to flip.
3.10 R. Stevenson
3.11 Javian Hawkins
3.12 Seth Williams
----------------------------------
4.1 Khalil Herbert
4.2 Anthony Schwartz
4.3 Tutu Atwell
4.4 Cornell Powell
4.5 Jaret Patterson
4.6 Kylin Hill
4.7 Josh Palmer
4.8 Brevin Jordan
4.9 Chris Evans – To use as a Mixon ‘cuff…or deal to the Mixon owner. He is the Chuba Hubbard thought process, only available two rounds later than Hubbard.
4.10 Shi Smith
4.11 Larry Rountree III
4.12 Sage Surratt
----------------------------------
5.1 Pooka Williams Jr.
5.2 Marquez Stevenson
5.3 Hunter Long
5.4 Cade Johnson
5.5 Demetric Felton
5.6 Rakeem Boyd
5.7 Kellen Mond
5.8 Dazz Newsome
5.9 Raheem Blackshear (Gerrid Doaks) – To introduce a new name to the later rounds…Doaks isn’t available on the FPros list, so I took a random other name in his place.
The more I think about it (from an email someone poked me with on the situation), the more I underestimated how good of a spot Doaks is in. I mean, I have some questions on Doaks as a talent – but he isn’t terrible. His tape is better than his college output or Pro Day. But on the Miami depth chart…there’s no worse RB depth chart than Miami’s. So, Doaks has a better chance here than if he were drafted by SF or LAR or NE, etc.
5.10 I. Smith-Marsette
5.11 Davis Mills
5.12 Marlon Williams
