10/12 SUN
(7:46amET)
-- Today’s Agenda...
Sunday Morning Sit-Start show 10:30am-NoonET. Access will post after 10amET.
FINAL Week 6 Projections update.
-- Don’t forget: 9:30am Jets v. Broncos
Obviously, the Broncos are the better team...but when does that matter in the NFL? An international game and the Jets desperate to get their first win -- it’s the groundwork for an upset/close call.
But under normal circumstances, Denver wins this game easily. Denver has an advantage in every area. Especially with their defense.
The Jets are bad in most areas, especially run defense...so, I assume Denver will try to run it over the Jets and get out with a safe win. However, when you have a highly mobile QB (like Fields)...like NYG showed on TNF...you have a curveball to throw at a superior defense.
I’m not betting it (ATS). I think I have a small prop bet on RJ Harvey getting a little extra work (if Denver uses the RBs a lot and tries to attack the Jets weakness vs. RBs). I don’t love the setup for this game...I think the Jets could surprise for a while and Denver/Sean Payton may be developing a mode where they play to the competition.
I’m gonna watch (before our 10:30amET show) and enjoy but not bet on.
-- Weather alerts...
LAR at BAL = The weather is trending away from this game now. 15 +/- mph winds but the rain percentages have really dropped to under 40%. Some reporting services say 25-50%...but they look like laggards from yesterday’s news. The Weather Channel currently shows less than 10% chance of rain -- with a bad storm coming up the coast underneath Baltimore but swerving back towards the ocean and away around 11-12pmET.
If this storm changes course and keeps heading to Baltimore it will hit around kickoff and be pretty strong.
DAL at CAR = 50/50 chance of rain. Winds 13-15mph +/-. Not ideal but not a knockout punch. Not good for weak-armed Bryce if the weather really kicks in.
-- Early injury news for Sunday...
Quentin Johnston = Game-time decision...trending ‘out’...bolsters Ladd.
Jauan Jennings = questionable, but trending to play. A sit to Kendrick Bourne’s full upside.
Mac Jones = Expected to play.
Zay Flowers = Playing, but not 100%...limited.
Kyler Murray = Very likely out and possibly out for 1-2 more weeks or more.
Alvin Kamara = Playing...not as bad as people worried.
Ja’Marr Chase = Good-to-go.
Ja’Tavion Sanders = OUT.
Riq Woolen = OUT.
T.J. Edwards and Kyler Gordon = Both will be back for MNF.
Nyhiem Hines NOT Amar Johnson elevated by LAC for the game today.
-- NBC Headline Commanders WR Deebo Samuel (heel) is questionable for Week 6 against the Bears.
I think he’s gonna play and be fine, kinda like last week he was questionable up to the day before/day of...they are just taking it easy/safe with him. But we have to wait until tonight/tomorrow to know for sure with them playing Monday Night.
-- NBC Headline: Falcons removed CB A.J. Terrell (hamstring) from the injury report Saturday.
This is a big deal for the ATL defense. He’s a #1 corner, and a good one.
Week 6 v. BUF is not a favorable matchup but look at Weeks 7-13. They face: Mac Jones-Tua-Maye-Dan Jones-Bryce-Rattler-Fields the 6 weeks.
The Falcons are the #1 defense in yards allowed per game terms.
I still cannot explain that 30-0 game vs. Carolina.

-- If you’re interested and/or tied to the Dallas RB situation with Miles Sanders gone for the year, I wrote some notes on my thoughts on it in yesterday’s notes (below) in an evening post.
-- NBC HEADLINE: 49ers QB Mac Jones (knee/oblique) is questionable to play in Week 6 against the Buccaneers.
Jones likely to start. Purdy out. But Jones banged up a bit, but very likely to play.
Mac starting is a good first step for Kendrick Bourne Week 7.
-- NBC HEADLINE: 49ers WR Jauan Jennings (ankle/ribs) is questionable to play in Week 6 against the Buccaneers.
If Jennings is out, that’s the full win for Kendrick Bourne. But we’re on a holding pattern on whether JJ plays. Still not bad for Bourne with just JJ playing, but it’s full-on Bourne Identity hope if JJ is out (with Pearsall already out).
Let’s see what SAT and/or SUN reports say...that’s all we can do.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez (calf) did not practice on Friday.
This is REALLY GOOD news for JCM...not that he needed more, but I’ll take ‘all the good news’.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (foot) is questionable for Arizona’s Week 6 game against the Colts.
It very much looks like Jacoby Brissett week. A good thing for the Colts-DST.

10/10 FRI
(5:55pmET)
-- Miles Sanders was placed on season-ending IR today.
So, what’s the Javonte handcuff fallout, etc.?
Jaydon Blue will now be active and will be seen by the FF-world as the obvious/darling handcuff for our beloved Javonte. I don’t think that is true. Dallas doesn’t trust Blue as far as they can throw him. But he will get more touches to try to prove himself/dig him out of the hole he put himself into...but like Kaleb Johnson, I don’t think he can get out of it.
Here’s who I think the order of ‘handcuffs’ are for Javonte now/with Sanders gone...
1) The long-term handcuff is not on the team at the moment.
Dallas sees themselves as a contender...and they just watched the Eagles get spanked by NYG, so Jerry Jones feels like he’s ‘in this thing’.
As a contender there is NO WAY they are going forward with Jaydon Blue as their #2 from here.
D’Onta Foreman worked out for the Chargers off the Omarion injury/IR, but they went with the guy who had been with the team all preseason (Nyhiem Hines). So, we know Foreman is actively available/seeking. It could be they sign Foreman or some other free agent or make a trade for Jerome Ford or similar type RB.
2) The short-term handcuff (like in-game this week or next week, if needed) is probably Hunter Leupke...he’d be working with Jaydon Blue some, and whomever gets ‘hot’ takes the majority of the work but Luepke would assuredly be the experienced (and talented) hand they’d lean on.
3) When KaVontae Turpin returns to health (prob. Week 7), then the short-term cuffs would be Luepke-Turpin-Blue mix with Turpin then Luepke then Blue seen as the touch count priority.
Turpin has worked out of the backfield on occasion for the past two years.
4) Where is Phil Mafah? Still on IR. Not practicing yet. Eligible to come off of IR but hasn’t been moved off of it.
Mafah is gonna stay on IR for a ‘redshirt season’. But if you see a rush to get Mafah back to practicing over the next few days into early next week -- then we have to take seriously that Mafah will enter the handcuff sweepstakes. As of now...odds are Dallas will get a back from the outside for the full season outlook/run.

-- Today’s Agenda...
More game reports all day.
Week 6 projections update between 8-10pmET
More Wk6 Prop Bets (and I posted a handful of Week 6 props on the portfolio post last night)
-- TNF first reactions...
Congrats to my NYG fans/family...last night may be the beginning of hope, or ‘the peak’ of a momentary spike moment...but either way it feels good now.
I thought, going into the game/writing my preview-overview yesterday, that the Giants were better than their public perception (and the Eagles worse than public perception), and I thought the G-Men would try to run the ball on the bad-run-D Eagles to stay close...close enough to cover +7.5...but I didn’t think they’d blow the Eagles out while running for 172 yards.
To be fair, I think the Eagles lost 5-7 defenders in-game...including most all their secondary at certain points...and were also without Jalen Carter from the jump (and without OG Landon Dickerson). The Eagles injuries + the Giants enthusiasm just blew the defending champs away. It could be a giant bucket of cold-water dumped on them in Week 7 when this young NYG group goes to Denver. The Giants carriage may turn into a pumpkin for the moment next week...but that the high (today) and the low (Week 7 at DEN) might not be really ‘real’ either...Week 6 and 7 might be two extreme situations that the truth lies somewhere in-between, but for now...let the G-Fans have their day, they’ve earned it.
Jaxson Dart is living up to my last week’s proclamation: the new Justin Fields, with a better head about him. I did not get, from his college tape, that Dart was so talented a runner. I judged his passer ability and didn’t like it, nor did our computer scouting models, but he showed decent feet in college but I didn’t see an aggressive/weaponized runner at Ole Miss -- he’s playing a different style in the pros as a weaponized runner and scrambler. Weaker pocket passing QBs can be gods when they scramble to extend plays and coverage breaks down -- just like Caleb Williams is an A+ passer scrambling and a D/F in the pocket in crunch time. Dart may be that same thing ultimately, and it just takes NFL defensive coordinators a few weeks to figure his tendencies and to come up with their schemes to put him in bad spots...but when a QB (like Dart) has sweet feet, they don’t have to be classically great every play...they just need to make some plays with their legs to blow the whole defensive plan up.
My final thought...damn, Lil’Jordan Humphery. He just pops up out of nowhere and has moments every year it seems. Still, I despise the name. Respect for his game last night...the Giants new ‘Nabers’, I guess? The new ‘Slayton’? The new Isaiah Hodgins find like Daboll did a few years ago?
My final-final thought: Thanks for nothing Daniel Bellinger. I was so sure that prop was ‘money’...and he got zero targets/catches. As the Philly secondary went down, NYG went to more 3 WR sets to go at it. Bellinger was barely on the field. Grrr
-- NBC HEADLINE: Chargers OC Greg Roman said he does not have a lead back between Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal for Week 6 against the Dolphins.
This is as 50/50 and ‘hot hand’ as it gets. The fact that no coach is being preferential to either one means they value Vidal more than people think...because the FF-public is holding Vidal’s practice squad time against him (vs. Haskins on the main roster).
All I know is I watched Rico Dowdle become a Hall of Famer running against Miami last week...with the Panthers O-Line all injured/banged up. So, Haskins/Vidal are potentially both gonna look decent this week behind their wounded O-Line.
-- NBC HEADLINE: 49ers WR Jauan Jennings (ankle/ribs) was limited on Thursday.
One small strike for the Kendrick Bourne story IF JJ plays. It looks like Purdy and Pearsall OUT, but JJ is an unknown right now.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Colts WR Alec Pierce (concussion) practiced in full on Thursday.
We’ll see if Pierce gets back to action (looks like he is) and see if he gets into the flow quickly or not.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said he “feels really good” about AJ Terrell’s status moving forward.
If AJ Terrell is 100% clear to play...I really like ATL to go knock off the Bills this week.

-- Today’s Agenda...
More game reports. All day.
All Picks ATS report by NoonET.
Week 6 projections update ahead of TNF, approx. 7-7:30pmET, after the inactives are announced.
TNF Overview and Betting items.
Week 6 Player Prop bets I’ve made (the books are lagging in letting the full amount of them out up to WED late night -- hopefully they upload their usual options by midday today).
-- TRADE: JAX trades CB Tyson Campbell for CLE CB Greg Newsome...
Why swap starting corners?
I dunno.
I think CLE senses an issue with Newsome, and his rookie deal expires at the end of 2025 season. He will want a massive deal.
CLE gets Campbell, who is under contract for a few more years.
For 2025/today, I think this is a ‘win’ for the Jags...possibly a huge win. Campbell is mediocre at best. Newsome is legit. AND Newsome is a top slot CB...critical chess piece.
-- The 49ers injury report...
Purdy-Pearsall-Jennings = all did not practice Wednesday. All may miss Week 6.
If that happens...Kendrick Bourne Part II is in play this week.
-- NBC HEADLINE: ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Texans “still view” RB Woody Marks as “predominantly a passing-game back and one who had a bit of an injury history in college.”
Well...this just crashed down on Woody Marks owners’ heads. How many leagues did someone spend 50-75-100% of their FAAB on him after one moment against the JV Titans?
I kinda felt this way about Marks, but he should get decent touches with the Houston offensive struggles...but he’s not any RB of the future or main carry guy.
Nick Chubb isn’t the greatest, but he is the lead back for the Texans and getting a little better as he goes. The media and fans keep trying to take him out/talk him down, trying to get him out of FF existence...but he just rolls along.
Those of us long-time (2025) Chubb owners...exploring a trade high of him to the Marks owner is something to look at.

-- Today’s Agenda:
Game reports as fast as we can pump them out.
Week 6 projections update between 7-9pmET approx.
Any Week 6 bets that I see. Little has been listed so far by DK or FD.
-- Waivers info from last night:
People really went in on Hassan Haskins...most people are buying that he is the guy to have in the LAC duo. I think Harbaugh had the most glowing sentence about him in his press conference, but it was more of a passing compliment than a big time endorsement. What Harbaugh really said was that it would be a duo/split/hot hand...but that part of his comments got more minimized...and I get that...it may be Haskins over Vidal, but I’m not so sure...not so sure of anything on this backfield really.
Kimani Vidal, worst case, has a chance to be 50/50 or 40/60...or take the slight lead for touches but he could also faceplant...so could Haskins flop too behind a nonexistent (without Alt) O-Line.
I saw more Haskins heat than Vidal from last night’s activity, but also saw a fair amount of situations where Haskins wasn’t touched but Vidal was bid on/taken. But more so it was the opposite. Mostly it was both pursued, but Haskins seemed to be favored in general.
More on this situation with a special post I have in a bit, after RC Notes has been posted.
Other waiver notes...
Some people went really hot for Kenneth Gainwell last night...especially leagues where Haskins was already picked up as an Omarion handcuff prior to Sunday.
Patriots-DST was the big DST grab last night.
Ryan Flournoy did get some heat in deeper roster leagues. Not much excitement out there for WR gets, so that helped him draw heat...and ‘he’s a Cowboy’.
Mason Taylor remaining availability was scarfed up, but then A.J. Barner got some decent heat/action among the TEs.
Brandon McManus was the top PK grab. I have been pushing for Matt Gay among the likely available, for those who lost Shrader.
Not a lot of people bought into Kendrick Bourne on waivers or FAAB.
-- Word is leaking that the Ravens are offering Mark Andrews in trade...likely to try and fill some of the holes they have due to mass injury. If Andrews is traded, Isaiah Likely goes a little nuclear, per se, in people trying to grab (in leagues where he’s ‘free’)...grab him this morning ASAP as a #2 or #3 TE if he’s on waivers for those with TE issues or need depth or wanna possible trade chip or whatever. If interested.
Likely would be a middle/back-end TE1 thought with Lamar. More middle/like #4-8 overall TE type potential for FF scoring. Think about how hot Andrews gets with Lamar, and then consider Likely is a better receiver talent the past 2 or so years. Being a top 3 TE isn’t out of the question eventually.
Likely is worthless Week 6 with Andrews there and no Lamar, and then a Week 7 bye, so it would be a 3-week investment with no ROI...so keep that in mind. But IF-IF-IF the Ravens trade Andrews, there’s flip value, etc., if that’s your possible angle for a pickup.
It’s ‘IF’ Andrews is traded. The Ravens always have some leaked intention the past 2 years but never do anything...they might be in panic mode and this is Andrews’ last season (or days) in Baltimore (free agent to be).
-- TRADE: Bengals acquired QB Joe Flacco and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Browns for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
I don’t think current Joe Flacco is better or (best case) much better than current Jake Browning...especially when you factor in the awful O-Line; Flacco is gonna get killed.
I think Cincy made this trade because the coaches are petrified for their jobs and are buckling to media and fan pressure of them being whiny babies that Browning isn’t throwing for 4 TDs a game and winning games...the team is losing since Burrow left, so Browning gets the blame. So sad.
And where is the Zac Taylor outrage/held to accountability by the media for holding on to and developing Browning for 3 years...it’s a huge failure on him. And then Taylor gives up on him/throws him under the bus after 3 losses to way better opponents? Taylor is the one who should be getting replaced, not Browning.
Taylor not backing Browning after all the good/decent things Browning has done as a backup the past 3 years...shameful. But this is what desperate-to-not-be-fired head coaches do. It’s sick.
For FF...nothing really changes. Flacco is OK, but he’s in a world of trouble/QB hits coming up behind this O-Line. He may start this week...or it takes one more week before they start him.
Not trading for Jameis Winston instead, shows Zac Taylor has no vision. He’s a reactionary dolt. Only employed because Joe Burrow and the great D-C he fired (another brilliant move) Lou Anarumo (now killing it in Indy) allowed him to stay employed. Now that those key humans are gone, Taylor’s team/roster is exposed as arguably the worst in the league.

-- Today’s Agenda...
Tuesday Night Waivers Video show 8:30pmET to 10pmET?
Week 6 projections will debut between 6-8pmET...I’ll be working on them most of the day.
Game reports as fast as we can get them out. First one today may not be until midday. I got a weird schedule today.
-- MNF KC at JAX first thoughts...
No player really blew up for FF last night, except the QBs had nice FF games. A lot of under performances for FF, which brought in several more wins across FFM-land. This was a really great week for the overall group of us in our tracking. Best week of the season.
My first thought after this game was... There are no more good teams in the NFL anymore, thinking back over the week. There’s like two awful teams (CIN and TEN...and NYJ...and prob. NYG) and there’s teams devastated with injury, especially O-Line injuries (LAC, MIN, and BAL all over). Other than the bad or injury rocked teams, the other 25-28 or so teams are random events clashing each week where a penalty or a fumble that bounces the wrong way or a blocked FG (even by a camera wire) or a concussion or O-Line or QB injury changes the game.
Every solo night game favorite lost this week, and home teams overall were (4-9) straight up this week...homefield means nothing. Underdogs covered 10 of 14 games...Vegas odds mean nothing. 10 of 28 teams this week scored 27 or more points and only one team scored single digits...defense is dead in the NFL.
Another thought...I couldn’t tell you the difference between Mahomes and Trevor in this game? Did you see some magical difference between their in-game performances? Trevor looked better in the end...Mahomes faltered all 4th-quarter, while Trevor rose.
What world is this? Drake Maye outplayed Josh Allen Sunday night...Trevor outplayed Patrick Monday night. Rookie QBs are now winning (or ‘covering’) their debut games without batting an eye (Dart, Gabriel). I’m just gonna assume all teams are the same and defenses can’t stop the offenses...it’s a game of deflected passes and penalties called or not called.
But isn’t it great TV? Isn’t it a great pursuit...trying to bet on these things and trying to manage FF teams through it all. So much turmoil and randomness...you’re definitely not out of any FF races yet with all these random events. It’s chaos and survival of the fittest in 2025. What? Are you gonna collect stamps...or read books instead? Do they still make stamps? I cant remember the last time I mailed anything. Come on and enjoy the football ride. The chaos is what makes it great!
-- NBC HEADLINE: Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Omarion Hampton (ankle) will be placed on injured reserve.
People are assuming Hassan Haskins because he’s been on the roster all year, but did we learn nothing from Michael Carter this past week?
I’m sure this will be a true split of some kind between Vidal and Haskins, likely lean Vidal.
My biggest curiosity -- what RB will they sign off the streets? D’Onta Foreman...I’m looking at you. Stop looking at me Gus Edwards.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Titans HC Brian Callahan said Tyjae Spears’ role will see an increased role going forward.
This has never come true once in two years...and I’m not inclined to believe it now. The fact that Callahan has said this same thing like 10+ times in 2 years and never follows through with it means he’s a moron too for continuing to say it. I don’t think he realizes what’s happening from one week to the next. He was a Demercado dumb fumble away from being fired yesterday.
About the only predictable thing in the NFL is how bad the Titans are...and even they won a game Sunday -- it took the sheer stupidity of an early TD celebration fumble.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Commanders coach Dan Quinn said he’s “optimistic” about Terry McLaurin (quad) for Week 6.
Looks like TML is back this week...or definitely by Week 7.
And no, McLaurin is not the #1 WR in Washington...it’s Deebo Samuel, and it’s not even debatable.
-- NBC HEADLINE: Bengals coach Zac Taylor said “like all personnel decisions, we have to evaluate it” when asked about Jake Browning starting in Week 6.
Like, what QB are they turning to that’s better?
I think the season is over for them, but then I look and see they are (2-3) and in second place. They could be a half game out of first after Week 6...not likely at all, but possible. The way this NFL season is going, nothing is impossible.
They just lost to MIN-DEN-DET...give the guy a break...give the guy an O-Line...give Burrow an O-Line, oh that’s right your crappy O-Line has gotten him hurt two out of the last 3 years.

(7:44amET)
-- Today’s Agenda...
Executive Report day...so, that’s my entire day. The report will post between 6-8pmET. Early reports looks like it was a pretty great week across the land, in general, for the initial win/loss tracking of Week 5. Scoring was really good this week from ‘our guys’ (the most FFM owned guys across the land)...despite Henry and Jamo, which is actually another good sign with that happening.
Week 5 TNF SF-LAR game report starts off the game report week, and is slated to post mid-morningET.
Week 5 MNF overview and betting outlook will post before 8pmET.
-- Injury watch today...
How bad is the Omarion Hampton injury? Looks like it’s more precautionary with his ‘boot’
Philly OG Landon Dickerson (ankle)...they play TNF this week.
What’s going on with the Bucky Irving ever-increasing injury list?
Why is Xavier Worthy questionable all of a sudden? Ankle issue non-practice, expected to be OK but unknown officially.
Detroit OT Taylor Decker’s latest issue. He missed Week 5.
Brock Bowers ‘IR watch’.
And many more we’ll find out about throughout the day.
Some side notes...
-- I didn’t realize that Jordan Addison was benched for the 1st-quarter of Week 5 from London...on a coach’s decision. He missed a walkthrough.

-- From a Houston Chronicle article (concerning Joe Mixon and Tank Dell)...
On Joe Mixon:
I’ve seen a lot of conspiracy theories that suggested Mixon isn’t happy or that he hurt his foot doing something he shouldn’t be doing. What I can tell you is none of that is true.
Here’s what we do know: DeMeco Ryans did not even acknowledge two questions about Mixon’s status when asked; When asked in late August, general manager Nick Caserio was non-committal about Mixon’s return; Mixon has not participated in any football-related activities with the team since the injury was revealed in the spring.
Mixon has not been seen at games, practices or in the locker room. He was seen wearing a boot in the summer; Mixon traveled to Tampa, Fla. to see a foot and ankle specialist; And nothing significant about his status has even leaked.
All of those things would lead me to believe that Mixon has a very serious injury to either his foot or ankle. It’s probably why Ryans has declined to say anything of substance. Last month, he called it “Mixon’s business.”
One league source I spoke to a month ago had doubts about whether he’ll return this season. And those doubts have not changed.
On Tank Dell (referring to reports that he could be back this season):
There has not been any update on Tank Dell. We often see him in the locker room. The CBS broadcast of Sunday’s game noted he’s begun sprinting.
And the fact that Ryans has never ruled him out would lead me to believe there’s likely a small chance he could return if he’s healed and doctors clear him late in the season.
But that would also depend on what the Texans need at that point or even if they have enough IR return slots. Remember, you can only have eight. It hasn’t even been a year since he was injured.
One source close to Dell told me, while he could be healthy late in the season, the receiver and those on the team are not expecting to return this season.
I’d suspect he still has a ways to go before he’s ready. At that point, the Texans would be asking themselves would it be worth it to risk him returning that late in the season if he hadn’t played in a year?
