(same intro each day) I’m doing a daily series to determine what team I feel has the best pass game receivers in the NFL.
I was spurred to the idea when I saw a PFF similar ranking where they had the Eagles as the number one past game/receiver group. I knew that couldn’t be right, in my mind, so then I wondered who we might show as the best pass game/receiver team is in the NFL…maybe it is the Eagles? Thus, we’re here for a quick/fun tournament style series to determine just what team has that best receiver group in 2025.
We’re gonna start out going division by division putting matchups together based on the 2024 regular season standings. And we’re gonna go from division to the conference and onto the Super Bowl/our real winner.
How I’m going to determine a winner in a head-to-head matchup is in a best-of-seven style format, judging six different player matchups.
1) The first matchup in every series is the number one wide receiver head-to-head, BUT that battle is worth two points or two wins in the best of seven series. The number one WR is so critical and so important that it’s worth double any other match up.
2) The #2-3-4 matchups will be the team’s wide receivers after the number 1WR. So, who I think is the second best wide receiver versus the other team second best, then a battle of the third best, and then a battle of the fourth best wide receiver to show the depth of a team’s receiver group.
3) After we pit all the wide receivers against each other -- then it’s a look at the #1 Tight Ends against each other.
4) Then, lastly, if needed, it’s a matchup of who I think is each team‘s best receiving running back.
So, a total of six matchups but the first one counting double or seven possible points or wins, and the best of seven winning team moves on to the next round/match up.
Not going to give much commentary here, just showing the results and moving the teams on. These are my personal choices, so if you don’t like it... I don’t need to say the rest.
==========================
49ers v. Rams
Puka Nacua d. Jauan Jennings (LAR 2-0)
Davante Adams d. Brandon Aiyuk (LAR 3-0)
Tutu Atwell d. Ricky Pearsall (LAR wins 4-0)
Jordan Whittington d. Jacob Cowing (LAR 5-0)
George Kittle d. Tyler Higbee (LAR 5-1)
CMC d. Kyren Williams (LAR 5-2)
The Rams blast past the 49ers onto the NFC West finals. When you really look at that SF WR group...it doesn’t give me a ton of ‘good vibes’ that SF should be the favorites in the NFC West.
Cardinals v. Seahawks
Michael Wilson d. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (1-1 tie)...I like Wilson as a talent, but JSN is producing more, I get that too...so I’ll split the difference. But if I could have just one (healthy) for my NFL team, I take Wilson.
Cooper Kupp d. Marv Harrison Jr. (SEA 2-1)
Greg Dortch d. MVS (2-2 tie)
Ricky White d. Zay Jones (SEA 3-2)...these are quite the ‘name battles’ on the last two, no?
Trey McBride d Elijah Arroyo (3-3 tie)
Zach Charbonnet d. James Conner (SEA 4-3 win)
Seattle slips by and onto the NFC West finals to face the Rams.
Seahawks v. Rams
Puka Nacua d. JSN (2-0 LAR)
Davante Adams d. Cooper Kupp (3-0 LAR)...the serendipity of it all...
Tutu Atwell d. MVS (4-0 LAR) sweeps for the second game in a row.
Jordan Whittington d. Ricky White (5-0 LAR)...at this stage, but it’s close...I am a Whitt fan too.
Elijah Arroyo d. Tyler Higbee (5-1 LAR)...the first total sweep avoided.
Zach Charbonnet d. Kyren Williams (5-2 LAR)
The Rams are onto the NFC Final Four with
