We're looking at free agency ahead of the official FA start period (March 12th, kinda officially…but things are happening all week+ prior), going position by position to discuss some of the big names, tour top ranked guys, as well as the sleepers and frauds of the group…and we'll make some throwaway/dart throw predictions on landing spots.

Today's position group: WRs

The consensus top three WRs available…

1) Tee Higgins, CIN

2) Chris Godwin, TB

3) Davante Adams, FA/NYJ

FFM’s Top Three WRs Available...

1) Tee Higgins, CIN

The obvious #1. Such a great time for him to be a free agent. The FA market either has older WRs or Chris Godwin coming off serious injury and inflated numbers that will cause a huge deal to be had from Tampa. I’d rather spend the money on Higgins over Godwin.

2025 FA PREDICTION: The Bengals won’t let him go, they’ll get a deal done and NOT trade him.

2) Davante Adams, FA/NYJ

There’s a surge of ‘names’ in free agency this year...all the old WRs are being discarded -- Davante, Keenan, Stefon, DeAndre and so-on.

I think the best of these names is Davante Adams. He looked like he still had some juice left but not nearly like he did last year. The Adams fade is beginning. If a team could get him on a one-year deal, he could contribute...but his ‘star’ days appear over, but still useful/good.

2025 FA PREDICTION: I assume he’s gonna sign wherever Aaron Rodgers goes to...and I think that will be Las Vegas. New Orleans (with Carr) isn’t an option because they have no money. It’s possible it won’t be LV or NO...then it will likely be the highest bigger for a year, with a lean towards a contender.

3) Keenan Allen, CHI

You could argue Allen over Adams...both are starting to fade off, but both are savvy veterans still capable of getting open enough and having great hands still.

2025 FA PREDICTION: Wouldn’t be shocking to see him go back to the Chargers...unless he and/or Harbaugh don’t like each other from their initial visits last year...when they traded Allen. If Keenan is unhappy with LAC, he could go to KC-DEN-LV as an option as well. I’d guess back with LAC if the money doesn’t matter or goes to a DET-LAR-SF-BUF if one of those contenders would pay up for him. I think Allen is more about the money than chasing a title, from a gut feel. Nothing wrong with that, he’s in his final year or two of NFL existence.

The fraud WR of free agency 2025: Amari Cooper, BUF

I think Cooper is moving towards ‘shot’ after watching him fade away for CLE and then BUF last season. He probably gets another shot with a low-level team that throws some money at him on a one-year prove it deal.

2025 FA PREDICTION: Dallas reunite is the best guess. My dart throw guess is that it’s the Giants that give him a look, due to Brian Daboll doing a favor for an ex-Alabama player. Again, just a wild guess.

The best value WR in free agency 2025: Noah Brown, WSH

Played like a quasi #1 WR for Houston when both Dell and Collins went down in mid-2023 season. Was an on-and-off ‘strong’ #2 for Washington in 2024. He’s a legit starting WR in the NFL for 2025...and he’s one of the best blocking WRs in the NFL.

2025 FA PREDICTION: I think he’ll go where he gets the best offer to make $$. Going back to Dallas might be in order. Going to Miami where former Houston O-C Bobby Slowick is a pass game coordinator now is possible too. Back to Washington is also on the table. He’s got links to all three of those teams.

The deep sleeper WR in free agency 2025: Tyler Johnson, LAR

I thought Johnson was one of the most impressive ‘non-starter’ WRs that I watched work last season. I think he’s a hidden gem addition to a WR depth chart for near-nothing. You can find a ‘smart’ team by who extends Johnson a decent offer.

2025 FA PREDICTION: The Rams saw it, they had to see it last year...they are likely the team who gets him back, and where he may be most comfortable -- but LAR just pissed a bunch of money away on Tutu Atwell. Houston’s new O-C is tied back to LAR last season, so they may make a move and beat the Rams to this. Outside chance Seattle, who hired a Rams staffer to coordinate the pass game in 2025 also makes a move. Possible Jacksonville signing with their new GM coming over from LAR’s war room.
