-- Special Podcast appearance
My annual multi-hour Podcast extravaganza appearance on the Podfather’s podcast is recording this week and will be out THU or FRI, I imagine. As soon as I get a copy, I’ll post access to it on the FFM site.
-- Weekly Video Show Q&A
Our weekly Tuesday night 8:30pmET show of the news/rumor updates but mostly subscriber Q&A starts up Tuesday 8/8 and runs weekly for the rest of the season…turning into our regular Tuesday Night Waivers video show starting Week 2 of the season.
Our usual Sunday Morning Sit-Start 2-hour pre-1pmET games video show/Q&A begins Week 1.
We have a weekly handicapping show planned, but the times each week are to be determined.
-- Preseason Game Recaps
My focus on grinding tape and reviewing the games begins with the HOF game this week, but really takes over the following week when the full slate of games hit.
I’ll scout the tape of every preseason game and report out on all that I see, as I have for over a decade now…my single favorite time of the year, when we get to see all the rookies and other young players needing/getting a chance to play and I can scout them more/again. So many football things to discover in August. I can’t wait. If you’ve been with us for a year or 10+, you know this is a great time of the FFM year.
I will be working all 16 preseason games each week. I plan to write up 11-12 of them but then introduce something new…the other 4-5 games each week, I will do a 15–30-minute video review of my scouting notes/impressions of a game.
It’s near impossible to break down the tape of these games and write my small novellas on each one for all 16 games. To save some time and toll on my fingers and sleep tally, I’m going to do a video review of 4-5 of the games each week -- going through my notes and speaking it vs. typing it. I want to see how it feels/flows. But really…I need to preserve my hands and my time each week.
Some of these preseason game reports are open to the public, to show a sample of our work to any new readers, but some reports are for subscribers only and some special notes from the public game reports will be published for subscribers only.
-- Draft Guide top 600 and Best Ball (including IDP) Rankings updates
As I scout all the preseason games, I’ll be updating the projections and adjusting for injuries, etc. We’ll be updating it all in our system for the Draft Guide and Best Ball projections/rankings/valuations and publishing as often during each week as needed/warranted.
-- Redraft, etc., Mock Drafts
Plenty of Mock Drafts of various kinds and with various commentaries will flow all throughout the month…all the Redraft and Best Ball ones published for the Draft Guide subscribers.
-- Dynasty Rankings to 600
With all the preseason scouting and news, we’ll also update our Dynasty top 600 rankings all month. I keep working the Dynasty top 600 until September kickoff and then I stop until the following offseason.
It’s impossible for me to keep up with the Dynasty top 600 properly in-season with all the games to scout and report on and shows I do. I talk about it and write about it a ton in-season but the actual board itself -- it freezes once the season starts.
-- Dynasty Rookie Draft top 300 rankings (including IDP)
We will continue to update these weekly all preseason, and we’ll do at least one more series of mock DRDs (five rounds) after we get a week or two of preseason tape.
-- 2023 Rookie Scouting Reports and Prospect scouting grades
So much rookie activity in August, obviously. Any breakout/surprise rookies I haven’t done a scouting report on -- I’ll do some as I can throughout August.
September 1st to the kickoff, we’ll update all our scouting grades on the 2023 rookies (by position group) with all the new information and scouting done on their preseason work. Scouting isn’t just ‘Pre-Draft’ and then live with that forever -- everything is fluid. We get more info on these guys in August, and we use it to re-grade them before their real NFL debut.
-- Random news and notes…
As info hits, and it will, in waves, all August -- we’ll have App notification alerts, website alerts, special reports and reactions to it all as the various situations dictate.
All that (above) and more (that I may be forgetting to hit on).
August is finally here! Football is back! August means 14+ hour workdays for me…and I love it (and hate the lack of sleep). Time to go to work to do some good old-fashioned profiteering on Fantasy and Handicapping!! August is so key to setting the table for ‘winning’ things in the regular season. I’m ready to go into attack mode!
Here.
We.
Go.
