Add Intro: Now, more featuring my (RC) news and notes from the day's/week's discussions and/or studies...
Old Intro: Whenever I come across any football news reports/articles in my research or sent to me by FFMers that I think are interesting or back up/contradict/debate things I've discussed, I'd like to share them for extra/interesting reading material...and have them put into the archives so if you you are researching things about a player or situation, you can search it on the FFM site and it's part of the arsenal for your research.
It will be mostly reports on players/situations not as discussed nationally (but could be from national/big media sites), but are (hopefully) relevant to Dynasty/Fantasy/Handicapping purposes as we go...with the occasional item that I just thought was interesting in general about anything football related.
Here's what I have for this day (noting the players/situation discussed for future archive search purposes with a link to the article):

-- The RBs don’t get paid…
Monday was the deadline for franchise tagged players to shed that tag and sign a long-term deal, but the big three tagged RBs didn’t make a deal.
My first thought is…it’s likely a mistake, as the market will not be getting any better for RBs than it is now. It will keep getting worse every year until the NFL expands, and even then…it’s just too easy to replace these guys with others -- we know this from Fantasy Football play.
My second thought is…the WRs better get ready because their days of getting treated like this is coming. WR talent is in a huge inflation mode.
To hit on each of the big three backs for FF ahead…
1) Saquon Barkley is probably now feeling ‘spurned’ and is looking ahead to his next situation. Not good for NYG…not good for FF 2023. Jonathan Taylor showed the way last year -- why put your health/knees/body on the line for a company that is not committed to you or before your big free agency moment/time? Anytime Barkley has a minor injury this season, like Jon Taylor last year, he’s going to sit out and not come back until he is 100%+.
Barkley has made a bunch of money as a high draft pick player, so he has no raging need to ‘prove himself’ to NYG or anybody. He needs to stay healthy for his next deal in 2024…and hope he can be the top guy in the market.
2) Josh Jacobs is even madder at the Raiders…no commitment to him and his great fear going into the 2023 offseason was that the team was fading, and he wanted to see them rebuild/restock…and they didn’t. He wants out already…now getting dissed contractually is not going to make this any better.
Jacobs is not in Barkley’s class, so I think Jacobs made a huge mistake here. The best offer he will get for the rest of his pro life was probably whatever LV just offered him.
I’m betting Jacobs, like Barkley, ‘misses’ some games this season…not rushing back from injury, and already looking at his future. And Jacobs was a 1st-round pick but not as high as Barkley, not close, so JJ has made some good money but he’s really wanting a bigger, long-term secure deal.
3) Tony Pollard is in a different boat…not as established as Barkley-Jacobs and has made nowhere near what they made. Career earnings before 2023…
$41M+ = Barkley
$21M+ = Jacobs
$3.1M = Pollard
I don’t see Pollard feeling too burned by this process…more grateful for the $10M tag this year. He is in no position to have a half-ass 2023 season to protect himself -- this is Pollard’s ‘prove it’ season…prove it to Dallas and the other 31 teams in the league, for a decent 2024 deal.
If you’re going to put a big redraft bet on Saquon or Jacobs for 2023 -- just know they have a lot of incentive to be a ‘pain’ to their NFL and FF teams this season.
