DFS Shark Tank Week 16: Player/Stack/Avoid Pitch for the $1M+ Open Tournaments

Andrew Duhan, better known as ‘Andrew DFS’, is a serious DFS player and is the most expert player I (RC) know. He gives us weekly DFS advice for main slate’s every week. Here are some of his picks and avoids for this week…

QB stack of the week:

Week 16’s mainslate features four games with a total of less than 40 points. The crazy weather around the country will make outdoor games less attractive options this week.

MIN QB Kirk Cousins is projected to have the highest ownership percentage amongst quarterbacks. He’s been averaging 425 yards per game and 3 passing touchdowns over the past two games. The game scripts for both were pass heavy since the Vikings had large deficits to overcome. Don’t think this will be the case against the Giants this week; however, Cousins is a safe option relative to the other QBs on the slate.

My QB pick this week is NYG QB Daniel Jones. Potential stack options for him include WR Isaiah Hodgins, WR Darius Slayton and TE Daniel Bellinger. All three players have low ownership projections whereas QB Daniel Jones is on the higher side. Bring back pieces in this stack would WR Justin Jefferson, RB Dalvin Cook and WR K.J. Osborn. Justin Jefferson is projected to be one of the highest owned players on this slate. The Giants secondary has been struggling over the past few games. They’ve allowed 100 receiving yards to WRs three times this season: Ceedee Lamb (Week 12), Terry MacLaurin (Week 13), and WR Jahan Dotson (Week 15). Coincidentally top CB Adoree Jackson has been out since Week 12; Justin Jefferson should have more than 20 points regardless.

Mid-range player of the week:

Baltimore RB J.K. Dobbins ($5,800) is a great mid-range player to consider for Week 16. He draws the lowly Falcons run defense on the road. On top of poor weather conditions and Tyler Huntley starting at QB, Baltimore’s defense should contain the Falcons rookie QB which could lead to a run heavy game script for the Ravens. Dobbins has had over 100 rushing yards and one touchdown since returning from injury.

Cheap player of the week:

Isaiah Hodgins and K.J. Osborn are good options with a low salary this week as mentioned above. Titans TE Chig Okonkwo ($3,500) is another fantastic player for Week 16. QB Malik Willis is slated to start and has shown signs of developing chemistry with Chig in the past. The non-Kelce tight ends have had volatile output all season. Chig is starting to become a consistent performer and I don’t think his salary will be below $4,000 next week.

Chalk to avoid:

Out of all the players with an ownership projection in excess of 20% the player to avoid this week is SEA WR DK Metcalf. His ownership levels are higher than past weeks since fellow WR Tyler Lockett will be inactive, and the Chiefs D presents a favorable matchup in a game that should be fast-paced given the QB on the other side of the ball. Not sure how Geno Smith will fare in poor weather conditions on the road. The Chiefs D will most likely try to focus their coverage on Metcalf and force other Seahawks skill position players to step up.
