Week 8 Picks….
ARI at MIN (-3.5)
The Computer says: MIN by 7.7 (a 4.2 spread differential)
Minnesota has a great home field advantage with the crowd/noise (the Vikings are 3-0 at home this season with all wins 4+ points). A mature, smart leader of men QB is needed to go on the road to Minnesota to win. Kyler Murray is none of those things. Look for a confused, mistake ridden Kyler to go down in flames this week.
*FFM SURVIVOR PICK*
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: MIN
Ross Jacobs: ARI
TEN (-2.5) at HOU
The Computer says: TEN by 5.9 (a 3.4 spread differential)
The best coached team in the league facing, arguably, the 2nd-3rd-4th worst coached…I'll swallow the 2.5 happily.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: TEN
Ross Jacobs: HOU
WSH at IND (-3.0) *UNDERDOG OUTRIGHT UPSET*
The Computer says: WSH 0.2 (a 3.2 spread differential)
I'm going to go with the rising, better-than-people-think Commanders to play old school ball right at a weak against the run and poor in O-Line protection Indy team starting a new QB.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: IND
Ross Jacobs: WSH
CAR at ATL (-4.5)
The Computer says: ATL by 1.5 (a 3.0 spread differential)
I can't go with the Falcons and lay 4.5 to any team in the NFL…especially with all the secondary injury issues for the Falcons.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: CAR
Ross Jacobs: CAR
LV (-1.5) at NO *UNDERDOG OUTRIGHT WIN*
The Computer says: NO by 1.3 (a 2.8 spread differential)
The Saints are due to win (three game losing streak), and they have some renewed lift after last week where the NFC South got jumbled up and the Saints are just one game out of first…with a win this week they might be tied for first!
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: NO
Ross Jacobs: LV
SF (-1.5) at LAR
The Computer says: SF by 4.3 (a 2.8 spread differential)
The 49ers are too good to fall to the Rams, even at L.A. Heck, there will probably be 75%+ SF fans in attendance.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: SF
Ross Jacobs: SF
CHI at DAL (-9.5)
The Computer says: DAL by 6.8 (a 2.7 spread differential)
Such disrespect for the Bears… They have a burgeoning great defense, so they can keep this game close within the spread you'd think. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears won this game or near-missed it.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: DAL
Ross Jacobs: DAL *SURVIVOR*
PIT at PHI (-10.5)
The Computer says: PHI by 8.4 (a 2.1 spread differential)
The Steelers are annoyingly tough…they're not good, but they're scrappy and can stay within 10 of the Eagles…maybe. I wouldn't want to bet on it…just picking it.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: PHI
Ross Jacobs: PHI
DEN at JAX (-2.5)
The Computer says: JAX by 0.5 (a 2.0 spread differential)
With Russell Wilson back, I'll take the Denver defense to keep it close or win it versus a dying Jacksonville team in London. And London isn't a second home for JAX…they're (1-2) in their last 3 Europe games and lucky not to be (0-3).
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: DEN
Ross Jacobs: DEN
NYG at SEA (-3.0)
The Computer says: SEA by 1.1 (a 1.9 spread differential)
How are the Seahawks 3-point favorites here? I guess NYG is due for a fall, but Seattle is too. In a battle of two surprising teams, I'll take the one getting a field goal of points.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: SEA
Ross Jacobs: SEA
NE (-1.5) at NYJ
The Computer says: NE by 2.9 (a 1.4 spread differential)
I think I want to side with the Belichick team after they get embarrassed on national TV, no? The Jets are due to flop…they've been a little charmed for their win streak. They are not that good.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: NE *Best Bet*
Ross Jacobs: NE
BAL (-1.5) at TB
The Computer says: BAL by 0.9 (a 0.6 spread differential)
Tampa Bay feels like a broken team you wouldn't want to bet on -- but when teams get embarrassed the week prior, they tend to have a snapback game. Tampa is due for a snapback game…and the Ravens are getting thrown on all over again. Maybe Brady can cash in here against a sloppy Baltimore secondary. But the Bucs are so banged up…it's hard to take them seriously in anything.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: TB
Ross Jacobs: BAL
GB at BUF (-10.5)
The Computer says: BUF by 11.1 (a 0.6 spread differential)
I think the Bills are going to murder the Packers on national television. My brain says Green Bay is so obviously not the pick…that it means they are the pick, but I couldn't bring myself to it.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: GB
Ross Jacobs: GB
MIA (-3.5) at DET
The Computer says: MIA by 3.8 (a 0.3 spread differential)
I want to take the Lions, but Miami is just too good a team in my eyes/on tape. If Miami has Terron Armstead, then I'm for sure with Miami as a pick this week.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: DET
Ross Jacobs: DET *BEST BET*
CIN (-3.5) at CLE
The Computer says: CIN by 3.7 (a 0.2 spread differential)
I wish this line was 3.0, but I'll lay the points to the Browns in a do-or-die game for Cleveland…because I think the Bengals are one of the best teams in the NFL and it's hard to take the Browns against them when the Browns are having such issues on defense and with the weather not being a factor.
Chris 'Bet The Close' Podcast: CLE
Ross Jacobs: CIN
