Three Simultaneous 2022 Redrafts (from the #4, #8, #12 spots, full PPR)
*Rushing this out as fast as I can on a Sunday, forgive typos and formatting*
Doing three redrafts side-by-side to compare and contrast where we are at today/this week…
Full-PPR
4pts per pass TD
9 starters, flex with PK and DST, 9 bench
My base plan going in…
-- Start out RB-RB but could go WR-RB…or RB-WR. Total flexibility to take the players I want to work with, but they're all good…and I have to consider RB for one of those first two picks, if the guys I see value in are there -- if not I might go WR-WR and take a bunch of RBs 5th-8th round. I have to lean RB in a 50/50 toss-up option between an RB-WR if I play in a league where everyone is an RB-zombie scarfing down every RB on an NFL roster.
-- I am going to do what I WANT to do 3rd-round, and that's Kyle Pitts if I can get to him. Justin Herbert in a QB-friendly (6pts pass TD, bonuses), etc.
-- I am taking Allen Lazard 6th-7th-round because he never gets near his supposed ADP of 8th-round.
-- plenty of RBs 5th-8th-round, I'll get a couple/as many as I need or want of Dillon-Penny-CPatt-Edmonds-Singletary-E.Mitchell
-- I don't have to try and be a hero over-drafting rookie RBs or rookie WRs…or rookie anything.
-- I'll take two QBs before some take their first one.
1ST-ROUND
1.04: Austin Ekeler…Henry went first. I had my choice of WRs and thought about taking one and trying to get Javonte in the 2nd, but from the 1.04 that's risky, so I'll hit it in the fairway with Ekeler. If like Cook or Najee or the WRs…go for it.
1.08: Ja'Marr Chase…I got a shot at Javonte next. I coulda gone Najee, but to mix it up a bit I'll take Ja'Marr in PPR.
1.12: Alvin Kamara…I don't love the #12 this year, because I'll reach at 12-13 because I won't pick again for a while…but I'm gonna play the board the way I want. I'm going to take the AK gamble followed by Javonte to start out RB strong and fade the WRs. I could entertain Javonte-Tyreek otherwise here…higher than ADP says but I don't care about THEIR stupid ADP.
-----------------------
2ND-ROUND
2.09: Tyreek Hill…Javonte and Kamara gone, Saquon-Fournette there but I go for my WR love, the last elite WR on the board (for me).
2.05: Javonte Williams…how much do like a Chase-Javonte start? If you're a Javonte believer…a lot.
2.01: Javonte Williams…everything is a reach here, and I know RBs will be gone at the late 3rd that I'm stuck with, so I'll go heavy RB and try to WR my way out as we go.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte
Which path do you like best so far? I'm not against any of them…until Kamara gets suspended, then I'll cry and cry. If AK not suspended…#12 team is ready to fly.
-----------------------
3RD-ROUND
3.04: Kyle Pitts…let's get frisky and try and win this damn thing!
3.08: Kyle Pitts…this is MY DRAFT, not THEIRS. I'm not living in a fear that Pitts is 'only' a TE#3-5 instead of 'generational'.
3.12: Justin Herbert…I can live without Mike Williams and Sutton and for sure Breece or Etienne. Let's get sexy.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert
#4 & #8 have some balance, I can anywhere from here. #12 is going to be leaning WRs ahead.
-----------------------
4TH-ROUND
4.09: A.J. Dillon…going to take an RB of interest, then see what nice WR falls to me next…like ARob, but could be an RB catches my fancy next.
4.05: A.J. Dillon…ditto, but could go E.Mitchell to diversify.
4.01: Mike Williams = Already drafted Herbert, and I got two RBs already, I'll stack LAC here.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert-MKWilliams
What team looks best to you after four rounds? It's a critical test point, judgment point. I got two RBs and a nice WR on each team…but doesn't #4 and #8 seem to stand out? In 4pts pass TD, like we're doing here, Herbert just doesn't totally stand out as much…and then Mike Williams is not in Tyreek or Chase's league, and I got a lot of Mike Williams-like hopes I can take from here. It's fine but #12 is a step behind, I think. Gut feel.
==================================
5TH-ROUND
5.04: Rashad Penny…I won't get him if I don't take him now.
5.08: Jalen Hurts…locking in one of the best 4pts pass TD QBs out there.
5.12: Rashaad Penny…going to overload on RBs and fade WRs in this one. If my RBs hit, then I can trade the excess into slick WR deals in-season. I'm not worried about being RB strong…this draft is giving me a ton of RBs in the middle.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon-Penny
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon-Hurts
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert-MKWilliams-Penny
-----------------------
6TH-ROUND
6.09: Chase Edmonds…going to load up at RB and then go Lazard next followed by QBs.
6.05: Rashaad Penny…I'll take it.
6.01: Chase Edmonds…going RB strong because they're giving it to me, and I got WRs I like/love coming up.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon-Penny-Edmonds
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon-Hurts-Penny
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert-MKWilliams-Penny-Edmonds
-----------------------
7TH-ROUND
7.04: Allen Lazard…A real chance at WR1-1.5
7.08: Allen Lazard…I'm not joking.
7.12: Allen Lazard…I ain't missing him again
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon-Hurts-Penny-Lazard
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert-MKWilliams-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard
-----------------------
8TH-ROUND
8.09: Trey Lance…I needed a QB, taking him and Matt Stafford, hopefully.
8.05: Trey Lance…taking shots he's a 4pts pass TD high-end QB1.
8.01: Dawson Knox…had to do it, left behind some good options.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard-Lance
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon-Hurts-Penny-Lazard-Lance
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert-MKWilliams-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard-Knox
===================
9TH-ROUND
9.04: Dameon Pierce…he likely won't be here but he was this draft.
9.08: Kadarius Toney…Claypool right before me, one pick away.
9.12: Trey Lance…got on all 3 squads
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard-Lance-Pierce
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon-Hurts-Penny-Lazard-Lance-Toney
#12 Roster = Kamara-Javonte-Herbert-MKWilliams-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard-Knox-Lance
-----------------------
10TH-ROUND
10.09: Skyy Moore…all my WR hopes went. Now, I'm reaching for one to be the guy with Mahomes in 3-4-5-6 weeks into the season.
10.05: Marquez Valdes-Scantling…one of my fave late WR picks.
10.01: Marquez Valdes-Scantling…I was hoping Claypool would fall but he didn't in all three drafts. He is in reality.
#4 Roster = Ekeler-Tyreek-Pitts-Dillon-Penny-Edmonds-Lazard-Lance-Pierce-Skyy
#8 Roster = Chase-Javonte-Pitts-Dillon-Hurts-Penny-Lazard-Lance-Toney-MVS

My pattern is becoming…
-- Get radical in the 3rd-round
-- RB strong…I can trade from strength.
-- 2 QBs, 2 TEs…taking 2nd QB early to have flexibility, insurance, and trade assets -- there's power in being the league power at QB.
-- A lot of Penny, Lazard, Lance
-- a top kicker
-- LAC + GB DST pairing with these a bit deeper rosters
