We’re going to take Skattebo back up. The initial concerns that this may have something to do with Skattebo have come down. Tyrone Tracy seems to be in the eye of the storm, and his work in their preseason game made that more and more clear...or moved his issues ahead of any Skattebo issues for Harbaugh.

It’s the busy season...12-14-16 hours per day of work per day. I also get bombarded with emails. I try to get my base work done in a day and then get to emails in-between and more after my scheduled work is almost closed for the day or close.

I’m way behind in August, per usual, on emails. So, if I owe you an email or reply, it may be delayed. I’m moving as fast as I can.

-- HEADLINE: NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports that the Texans inquired about Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte’s availability.

I believe: The Patriots do NOT want to help Houston in the AFC; they think they may see each other for the AFC title along the way. That will be true of one of those teams...and it is not NE.

50-50 Boutte is in the move in August/pre-53-man roster. There’s a money issue and NE has Mack Hollins, Efton Chisom, and Kyle Williams for depth with Demario Douglas as the #3 WR.

ATL and NO could be in play here, so is Philly.

-- HEADLINE: NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that multiple teams around the NFL “have wondered about” Steelers CB Joey Porter as a potential trade target.

I doubt the Steelers trade him, but this is a top-rated cover CB...and if he was dealt, this would change some team’s defense big-time, in a division shifting way.

If he were traded, it would be to the NFC. And the leading contenders would be The Lions, the Bears, the Packers, the Cowboys and several other NFC teams.

You know what’s crazy? Watch Lemon go out and play in a preseason game this week or next and do something good and thus be the only ‘big 3’ rookie WR doing anything and jumps Tyson or Tate in the DRD rankings. Probably not, but it’s on the table. Tyson is falling. Now, Tate is cooling.

Not saying it will happen, just that it could happen...the door is opening for Lemon if he had a good preseason moment and the others are nowhere to be found. If he pops his hamstring again he may fall into the #10-15 range in DRD ADP.

The easy thing to do is see the Tyrone Tracy missed block and go nuts on Tracy. The social media one note/one thing I saw--I’m going to now beat it to death thing is in full effect.

The side I’m starting to lean towards...this is more about Cam Skattebo. His foot injury from 2025, but also just as much it is his Diego Pavia-like, career sabotaging persona. Skattebo may be the most talented RB but he’s very likely despised by the coaches. If you’re a 50+ year old, successful, old-school coach...do you wanna deal with Skattebo everyday at work? RBs aren’t worth much to begin with, but the ones who are worth something--are absolute proven, maniacal workers at their craft. Did you think I just described Skattebo?

The problem is Najee Harris is a different kind of fraud...on talent, but he’s more mature and professional...and he’s dirt cheap--signed at the league minimum. This is almost a nothing investment in Najee.

In the end, none of us really knows why Harbaugh did this. But it’s incredibly curious/perplexing by him...and by Najee. For a league minimum deal, Najee could’ve waited longer for a key RB injury to hit ahead or in-season. Why now? Why NYG with three RBs in place?

-- HEADLINE: 49ers WR Deebo Samuel will take over “a portion” of the Z-receiver role, while also contributing as a “wide back.”

The Athletic’s Matt Barrows notes that at 30 years old, Samuel is “not going to be close to an every-down player.”

I mean, dude, are you out of your mind? Do you still think 30 years old is an NFL cliff? What is this 2018 and everyone running around on the interweb with their info graphics on how older backs have performed by age for the past 20 years? All those people thinking they had an ace up their sleeve managing their FF teams relying heavily on breakout age, and anything related to age--was just wrong, for only about a decade. I thought all the ‘ageists’ quietly dissipated into the bushes hoping you wouldn’t notice a decade of erroneous preaching. I guess some relics still exist.

Deebo was the Commanders best offensive player in 2025.

But, OK...a half year later he’s turned 30 so he’s an ancient asset who can only play select downs. Got it. Let me guess, he’ll be on the sidelines watching De’Zhaun Stribling play all three WR positions at one time Week 1, right?

-- HEADLINE: Texans WR Jayden Higgins has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the entire 2026 season, per @RapSheet

The injury epidemic is real and insane this preseason. I bet there will be some kind of push to take the preseason time frame and/or practices and/or number of games they play down to two games.

I guess the ripple effect of this is...back to WR1 goes Nico Collins.

Into the starting lineup goes Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel.

Tank Dell is not ready to be fully back yet.

-- HEADLINE: Chargers center Tyler Biadasz is out indefinitely after suffering damage to his ACL and additional injuries to his left knee during Tuesday’s joint practice.

The Chargers can overcome this; they are so good and so deep on the O-Line. BUT this causes two uncomfortable things...

1) Thank God (for LAC) they drafted a top OC/OG prospect in Jake Slaughter. He becomes a starter most likely, and while he is talented...it’s asking a lot for rookie to take that prime spot on the O-Line.

2) LAC has probably the best O-Line and O-Line depth in the league, but that depth just took a hit. You don’t want to get into this ‘burning your OL depth’ before the season even begins...that hit LAC last year, and then they next major injury or two completely wiped them out.

Good thing they took an older defensive end with their first pick. I’m not sure which LA GM is stupider...LAC with a title run at hand passing on O-Line in the 1st-round, or the Rams on the verge of a mega-team and having a high pick for probably the last time for a decade...takes a QB that cannot help them at all in 2026...nor probably ever.

It’s not about any one catch (I see 2-3 of these per day from Cyrus Allen, I don’t even react to them anymore...who cares about one good play, except Cyrus gives you 2-5 of them on social media per day...always from Mahomes...mostly always beating KC’s top CBs)...

But it just hit me today that the whole situation here is a vortex all going my way. Best receiver on the team, talent wise...technician-wise. Best hands of any KC WR. Best route-runner of any WR on KC. Rashee Rice looks 100 years old in the preseason. And Xavier Worthy is the ‘who cares’ generic WR that football people mostly thinks Worthy is what Cyrus Allen really is. It’s a low probability of a series of events pointing towards Cyrus. If Tyquan Thornton goes down fully the fuse is fully lit.

I can say all this wide open in public because 99% of anyone who would hear it outside of FFM is going to dismiss it because Allen was not a top draft pick and ‘look at his weak/non-amazing numbers in college’. They didn’t listen to me about Marv...and they for sure aren’t going to fully get this until it’s too late, thank God. We need the majority of FF players and bettors against us, or none of my scouting will work as well/be a value. There are already too many fans starting to get ‘woke’ on Cyrus from the sheer volume of football analysts clanking symbols together to let you know they just saw this guy and he’s pretty good and he’s a sleeper with their other 214 sleepers they’ve identified.

It’s not a battle of scouting a hidden player with Allen now...the media is talking about him too much. He’s been somewhat discovered and the name is in people’s brains. Now it is a battle of conviction and price that has to be paid for him. Who really believes in or understands the talent? Who is willing to pay what draft price? It’s starting to get to be not the raging deal I wanted it to be if you drafted in August for your DRD. I always pitch for people to do their DRD’s close after the draft where we can crush the asleep mainstream and draft a Cyrus Allen at #50-60+ in DRDs like we were in May-June-July.

Cyrus Allen is an anomaly of sorts...the one who slips through the cracks of our normal scouting assumptions and systems. I think. But even if I’m less right about his talent then I think...it’s the situation that is going his way to help him for FF. On a different team, he might never get off the 2nd-team for three or more years.

Talent is one thing. QB and surrounding depth chart competition is another. Allen would be a ghost on the Jets or Jaguars, etc. On KC in 2026...he’s about one more thing happening from getting himself into the starting lineup as a lock, which is all we can ask from our 4th-5th-6th-round DRD pick...if you picked before August. We need guys like this getting chance. Cyrus needs a chance. Nick Foles needed a chance. Mike Wilson needed a chance. David Johnson needed a chance. Parker Washington needed a chance. It took ‘a break’ to for the coaches to really see them. The NFL has a rich history of possessing talent it has no idea is a talent because it didn’t play in the SEC or doesn’t have the same agent as the head coach, etc.

So...missing Week 1 or more this season from the rookie class: Love, Tyson, Lemon. I am dead serious, it won’t be long before De’Zhaun Stribling is the 1.02 in ADP.

I ask again? Why do you want these rookie picks so badly?

I’m seeing Tyson fall to 1.04...1.05...1.06...and falling. Makai Lemon is crashing as well.

My strategy at #2-3-4-5-6 picks yesterday in DRDs that I was directly in...take Stribling after Jer. Love is gone, then trade Stribling by his next preseason game.

I’m going to update the DRD top 300 again tomorrow. I’ll leave all the movements/change numbers from yesterday and leave them in all week through to the normal Thursday update. Then I’ll clean the changes and get ready for fresh movement when next week’s (preseason Week 2) get going.

Selling DRD picks for real players is the smart way to go--leverage the general pop’s bloodthirst to discover/virginally FF-possess hot rookies.

Stribling is starting to go top in DRDs. I am planning to do a quick update of the DRD board today to adjust for the preseason Week 1, what we know so far. A little update before the main update every Thursday.

-- HEADLINE: Packers TE Tucker Kraft (knee) said the team will “probably” keep him on a snap count until halfway through the 2026 season.

Tucker Kraft: “They’re going to take into account my rep range probably until halfway through the season, and then they’re going to just pat me on the ass and send me out there and send me to the wolves.”

These injury projections we did earlier in the summer are mostly on track right now.

The pattern is: The team and the player talk a big game in the offseason. The players start moving around in the training camp, but then the closer we get to the season start...then we get closer to the season and then the talk starts getting a little more worrisome and restrictive.

Kraft is gonna be on managed reps for a while. Malik Nabers might be too...that’s going to be a big one. Alec Pierce is a real concern. George Kittle is not a lock for Week 1. Zach Charbonnet may really not be on track as fast as they’re trying to tell us.

-- HEADLINE: Bears coach Ben Johnson said Kyler Gordon (calf) has a timeline to return of “unknown.”

Coby Bryant out. Kyler Gordon likely out.

-- HEADLINE: Bills C Connor McGovern (undisclosed) is dealing with a multi-week injury.
