-- Week 1 series continues...a REWIND/look back at Week 1 of last season.

-- Working on the HOLY series this week. Each position report will drop as they are completed. Next up: The HOLY TEs. The HOLY series will wrap up ASAP...with the DST/PK, and then we look at all the HOLY and how it sets up the 1st-round strategy.

-- TST Fri. = Back onto the QB 2027 scouting with a prospect we had a giant gap in what we initially saw in Trinidad Chambliss: https://youtu.be/J-TGteo_p1s

This Week’s/Month’s Agenda…

-- DRD rankings will now update rankings and add/update commentaries, etc., every THU or FRI for the rest of the preseason.

-- Dynasty and Best Ball rankings audits/updates weekly +/-.

-- Full scouting reports on various prospects from now until the NFL preseason. Deeper looks at Cyrus Allen and more all on deck.

-- Any FFM News & Notes or Special Reports during the day as I get them.

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: Rams HC Sean McVay said WR Puka Nacua will be at training camp and will participate in practices.

The sentiment is down on Puka. It’s high/stable on Ja’Marr and JSN, but it’s showing some cracks on Puka. He’s available in some cases. And reasonably available, among the high-end items. If you wanted in...now is the time, I think.

His pending case for biting that girl is no longer a criminal issue from what I see. It’s now off to a civil ($$$) settlement. He can still get suspended by the league, however. That overhang and Puka’s rehab stint and dumb podcast thing and other ‘knucklehead’ things are adding up to drag down his FF valuation in the mainstream.

-- I needed to hear it directly from Dave Canales, this will affect my projections on their next run. We goin’ higher from here... https://x.com/SleeperCarolina/status/2081067996307501495

BUT...BUT...BUT...I thought he was a bad route runner? That’s what all the scouts and analysts said as they pushed Matthew Golden as their favorite WR in the 2025 NFL Draft.

-- HEADLINE: Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters the team has offered CB Christian Gonzalez a contract that would make him the highest paid cornerback in the NFL.

I don’t think he’s the best CB in the game, but he’s up there so NE might as well cough up.

-- HEADLINE: NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe believes Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas has a chance to earn a starting role this year.

1) Who cares what Cameron Wolfe thinks about football matters?

2) I could state 7-8 WR names in Miami who have a “chance to earn a starting role this year.” How is this a news item?

I believe there’s a chance it might rain tomorrow.

Who cares what I think, I’m not a meteorologist? Anyone can make these non-statements.

I think Caleb Douglas is like a worse Dont’e Thornton for the Dolphins.

I believe there’s a chance he doesn’t make the team. Two can play at this game.

-- Someday I may run across tape of a coach speaking to his team or as a TV studio game analyst--and it be inspiring or insightful, but it’s not today...not for most all of my 15+ years in football analysis.

Today’s nonsensical entry that somehow teams release thinking they’re putting out gold. They are not: https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/2080666916847264120

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- HC Sean McVay on Blake Corum: “He’s a stud, and he’s gonna be a big factor in what we’re gonna do this year

-- In games where Rashee Rice has played, Xavier Worthy has averaged 2.7 catches/game: https://x.com/nickercolano/status/2080358925895975025

-- Theo Mackie: Tyler Allgeier takes the first carry of 11-on-11 drills in the Cardinals’ first open practice of the year. Jeremiyah Love working with Carson Beck and the 2s.

You have to remember...you don’t work everywhere you go.”

 == Daily Series ==

Let’s check in on the top receiver groups for a fun little tournament all July. We’ll do one matchup per day. The top 3 WRs facing off, then #4 matchup is the lead receiving TE, then #5 is the #4 WR matchup. Best of 5 matchups, first to 3 wins...and we’ll stop it when hit the three wins.

I will pick the WR that I like best as if I were an NFL GM...and just for having them for the 2026 season...based on talent not age/injury worries. Strictly talent I covet.

MIN v. DET (NFC North finals)

1) Justin Jefferson d. ARSB (MIN 1-0)

2) Jameson Williams d. Jordan Addison (1-1 tie)

3) Isaac TeSlaa d. Jauan Jennings (DET 2-1)

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: Cardinals HC Mike LaFleur said the team has had “productive” negotiations with Jacoby Brissett as they work toward a new contract.

This is one of the top 5 things I’m monitoring for FF 2026. Arguably, the #1 thing I’m watching. Really, let’s just say it -- this is the #1 thing I’m watching for my boards and strategies.

Trey McBride’s and Mike Wilson’s season hangs in the balance.

A 1-2 punch of info I need...

1) They agree on some new contract for more 2026 money.

2) Do the Cardinals then immediately name Brissett starter?

So far, the players are acting like this is Brissett’s team. The vibe is he’s the guy, but I think they’re waiting for the contract to resolve. It wouldn’t be wise to name him starter and then be negotiating with him.

-- Tony Romo was arrested overnight in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while under the influence. Romo was pulled over yesterday at around 8 pm, performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests, and was then arrested.

-- QB Kyler Murray and WR Jordan Addison have been working out together for the past 2 months in Dallas.

RC NOTE: Immature Kyler ends up connecting with immature Addison, of all the options on the Vikings. Great.

-- Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said he ran the ball too much last year, and plans to hand the ball off to RB Kenneth Walkerif all else fails” and “let him go to work.”

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

 -- Tyreek Hill update: https://x.com/cheetah/status/2080095949527859394?s=20

This was big news today because Tyreek said he is trying to get power in his left leg, that he has no power in it as we saw video of him working out.

Not surprising. He’s likely 2-3 months away from getting plausible or normal. He should be ready for the stretch run perhaps...in time to help the Rams chase the Super Bowl.

-- HEADLINE: NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports Panthers EDGE Nic Scourton “suffered an apparent lower body injury in practice” and was carted off the field.

He is done for the year with a torn ACL. The Panthers have taken massive blows this month: losing their starting right tackle, losing their talented young pass rusher for the season, and knowing their left tackle will miss the start of the year. It feels like Carolina's season is over before it even gets started.

-- HEADLINE: The Charlotte Observers’ Mike Kaye reports that Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks took some first-team reps at training camp on Thursday.

This headline sent Brooks-oholics into a tizzy.

They didn’t read the fine print...

Earlier today, NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported that “there will be no limitations” for Brooks (knee). First-team usage seemingly affirms that. The team hopes Brooks forms a one-two punch with RB Chuba Hubbard before taking over as the starter at some point. Backup RB Trevor Etienne “also got his fair share of reps, and he worked with the starters as well in the running back rotation.” This is somewhat surprising, and worth keeping an eye on.

FIRST TEAM/STARTING RBs DO NOT EXCLUSIVELY TAKE ALL THE 1ST TEAM REPS!!! The other guys that are considered 2nd and 3rd/#2 and #3 RBs will get some work with ‘the 1s’ in camp, especially early. THIS IS NOT NEWS.

The biggest news from it one could say is = Etienne got 1st-team work. That’s a good sign for the youngster.

Has anyone explored the thought that Etienne may be as good/better than Brooks...especially consider cost to the Panthers? Next year Brooks makes $2.7M but can be cut for a $700K cost, which is his final year of his rookie deal.

-- HEADLINE: Jaguars coach Liam Coen said he is expecting “a big year” from Bhayshul Tuten.

What else is he supposed to say?

But he’s not talking about Chris Rodriguez.

But he’s not be asked about Chris Rodriguez...the jags coaches only get asked about the media-obvious players...that I can see/have seen.

 .

-- HEADLINE: Ravens waived QB Diego Pavia.

The goofy or aggressive or goofy-aggressive...the questioning of authority QBs have no home in the NFL.

Pavia...done, essentially. He may come back years from now with more maturity to get a long shot chance after some CFL work.

Will Levis...done unless he gets a lucky break.

Baker Mayfield...they came so close to jettisoning him out of the league in CLE and CAR, but McVay saved him.

NFL coaches want ass-kissers at QB...and the QBs are usually smart enough to kiss ass until they get the control/leverage.

Shedeur Sanders is ‘next’.

NFL Coaches, and some GMs, evaluate personality fits more than actual diving talent at QB. The head coach (especially ex-O-Cs) relationship with the QB IS EVERYTHING, so if the head coach has the pull...they will want to draft or sign ‘pleasing’ QBs...AND AVOID the nut cases they have nothing in common with.

Who wants to work with someone every day (10-15 hours a day) that they can’t stand...and can’t play golf with, etc.?

 -- Interesting Stats:

From Week 2 to Week 17 last season 915 games):

Dak Prescott led all QBs in passing yards...beat Stafford by 91 yards.

Goff 3rd. Maybe 4th. Sam Darnold was 5th. Bo Nix was 6th. Trevor 7th. Caleb 8th.

The FF QB leader in PPG in that span, if you’ll allow it at 7g played = Brock Purdy.

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson reports Joe Mixon told former teammates from the Bengals “his career is over.” RC NOTE: He’s still trying to make a comeback, but apparently it’s not going well.

-- Tua Tagovailoa said “Zachariah Branch actually reminds him of Jaylen Waddle."

-- HC Jesse Minter on Zay Flowers: “He’s not just a slot guy, he’s not just an outside guy, he’s not just a gadget guy. He can do everything… I look forward to him getting the ball in as many ways as possible. The more that guy touches the ball, the better we’ll be.”

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: Panthers placed LT Ikem Ekwonu (knee) on the active/PUP list.

Ekwonu will miss the start of the season, and we found out earlier in the week that starting RT Tyler Moton is set to miss the start of the season as well.

Carolina is out to the worst ‘injury issue’ start of any team this season, so far.

This has ripple effects for FF...

We’ll discuss this more in the days ahead.

-- HEADLINE: NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett reported to training camp while awaiting a new contract.

This is a good first act...WE NEED JACOBY at QB for Mike Wilson-Njigba and if you have Trey McBride.

It will be a small, short party when I see that they’ve paid Jacoby better and officially name him the starter...and not any announcement that he’s in some competition for the job. I better not hear that.

-- HEADLINE: The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt believes Isaiah Davis is the “early favorite” for the Jets’ backup running back job.

I know. Been saying this for over a year now. Not sure what happened to Braelon Allen, but it’s been obvious everyone/coach who has the duo gravitates to Davis over Allen as the backup/#2.

The handcuff situation for Breece = It’s a Davis-Allen split role...with Davis taking a 60/40 or more edge in touches.

I’m still wondering if Allen isn’t trying to bulk to a fullback/H-Back/Move TE this year.

-- HEADLINE:  A fiscal snag in the Aaron Donald comeback story: https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/aaron-donalds-last-rams-contract-204222535.html

-- You gotta see this to believe it: https://x.com/NewEraZach/status/2079907788545761727?s=20

Wow, most every NFL head or assistant coach is the absolute worst/caricature of what they thing a coach is. Who does that? Who’s that outta touch/not reading the room with his fake/contrived enthusiasm? I mean, besides his brother?

No different than those fake corporate meetings or team building events.

-- @AdamSchefter on Jaylen Waddle: “Sean Payton has been looking for a joker. And I think he views Jaylen Waddle as that. A guy that can come in, make some plays, line him up in different places.

“Please, for the love of God, will people stop talking about Sean Payton and his quest for a 'Joker'? Last year, Evan Engram, RJ Harvey, and half the roster were named as Jokers, and 0.0% of them worked out to be Jokers.

And what even is a Joker... doesn’t every team have multiple Jokers without calling it that? Schefter said a Joker is defined as: ‘A guy that can come in, make some plays, line him up in different places.’ Well... NO $#it!!!

Sean McVay did something with TEs that caused the entire league to change everything in the 2026 offseason and adopt/chase McVay’s 2025 thing. Sean Payton is still talking about Jokers.

Sean Payton having a Joker position on offense is the equivalent of Howard Stern signing a new contract to still be on satellite radio. “I'll take things that used to be relevant over a decade or two ago for $500, Alex.” Now they’re both just getting sad and pathetic in this era, living off a past moment. Can't we just let good things go, die a natural death, and enjoy/remember fondly the times that we did have?

What the literal F has Marvin Mims been doing for the past two years? Does Sean Payton not have functioning eyes? No wonder Payton demoted himself from play-calling/running the offense. He has ‘the Joker’ right in front of his face, on his roster... and he doesn’t even see it.”

JAX v. HOU (AFC South finals)

1) Parker Washington d. Nico Collins (JAX 1-0)

2) Jayden Higgins d. Brian Thomas (1-1 tie)

3) Jakobi Meyers d. Jaylin Noel (JAX 2-1)

4) Brenton Strange d. Dalton Schultz (JAX 3-1)

The Jags are gonna be a very tough out in this tournament...they have Travis Hunter for the series end/#5 spot if needed.

Today/tomorrow

-- A special report/study on Parker Washington sentiment.

-- Devy Series post all through the rest of July into August.

-- DST hierarchy/rank daily series from my research, 2-a-day added for the Draft Guide analysis.

-- Working on the HOLY series this week. Each position report will drop as they are completed. Next up: The HOLY WRs. The HOLY series will wrap up ASAP...WR, TE, DST/PK, all the HOLY and how it sets up the 1st-round strategy.

-- New TST video posts today as we do some additional QBs for the 2027 NFL Draft.

RBs we’ve done in the past week...

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: The Athletic’s James Boyd believes Jonathan Taylor could be a training camp hold in.

I’m sure he will. This is a tactic to also lay out of camp...for the player and the team. They don’t need JT taking useless reps.

My guess is they resolve this in August.

-- HEADLINE: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport believes J.J. McCarthy and Kyler Murray will battle for the starting Vikings quarterback job “right up to the start of the season.”

Kyler would have to melt down to lose this for Week 1. No way the Vikings can purposefully go into the season picking JJM...for them or for his sake. It’s a much better set up for JJM if Kyler flops then JJM is forced in; less pressure. JJM starting Week 1 would get all involved crucified.

The trade of JJM to the Chargers looms...my gut feeling. This year or next.

-- HEADLINE: Panthers placed RT Taylor Moton on the reserve/non-football injury list with blood clots.

This is huge if it turns out Moton misses a lot of time or the whole season.

Another reason to like the Bears for Week 1...betting and for DST.

-- HEADLINE: The Denver Post’s Parker Gabriel believes Sam Ehlinger could beat out Jarrett Stidham for Denver’s backup quarterback job.

I believe this is 99% sure to happen. It should’ve happened last season. Ehlinger was really improved last preseason. If this does happen, Ehlinger backs up a somewhat worrisome Bo Nix with his stack of injuries the past 5 or so years--and the broken foot last playoffs.

-- HEADLINE I think you might find this interesting about Kenny Pickett: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/new-details-suggest-kenny-pickett-immediately-regretted-requesting-a-trade-from-steelers/ar-AA28nmOq

-- Multiple teams "felt like De'Zhaun Stribling was the best WR in the draft" and the Rams were targeting him, per @AdamSchefter. (RC: I would like a list of these teams, please...)

-- Sounds like the Panthers are exploring using Tet McMillan in the slot more often to create mismatches.

-- From The Insiders on @NFLNetwork: The #AZCardinals are in talks with QB Jacoby Brissett on a raise for 2026.

-- Random report: Certainly sounds like Jonah Coleman is more likely that JK Dobbins handcuff (similar to previous reports), while Harvey has his own role.

-- Here’s Kenneth Gainwell...preparing hard for his clear secondary, limited touch role, supposedly... https://x.com/Buccaneers/status/2079293103249211820

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: Front Office Sports’ Mark Maske reports NFL owners expect to finalize a contract extension with Roger Goodell “in the coming months.”

I think Goodell is not worth near the money he’s raking in from the NFL...he’s somewhat of a proverbial ‘useful idiot’ the owner’s use. And there’s also the NFL getting more and more popular...so, he gets credit for that to a degree...but almost anyone on the planet could guide this NFL juggernaut to big numbers.

I’m not a fan of his, but that doesn’t matter. He’s gonna get paid for steering a self-driving car.

He’s done nothing for the fans but try to squeeze every ounce of football love and goodwill out of them...like most every big corporation or investment firm does when they’re not run by the founder. It will catch up to the NFL someday, but not likely in the next few years. It remains the national pastime and by far the best fantasy and betting sport. The NFL prints money right now. Nothing anyone does at the top can stop the printing press yet.

The NFL could use an AI Chat Bot to run the league and take the savings and make NFL Sunday Ticket $50-$100 for everyone, and available for everyone...easily...and Netflix and Peacock can have NFL games, but they would be broadcast free...those companies can advertise their stuff on it for 4 hours but they could make it free. A real businessperson would go into the NFL and take out the admin bloat to save money and then make the game accessible for everyone and go find money elsewhere. Not the NFL...it’s low hanging fruit for its management to just be lazy and overcharge the audience and make it complicated for them through so many different streaming services.

The NFL deserves a lot of money/revenue/income...but they could actually work at it and get it from other sources because you could. The NFL is so poorly run that they screwed up ‘the NFL Network’ and ‘NFL+’ and all digital content attempts, so they just sold the remains (more $$ instead of making quality) and gave to ESPN--the current chief ‘destroyer of things’. ESPN will screw up the NFL’s digital media like they are already screwing up the MLB TV digital media--what was a fantastic was to do digital media a few years ago is now a hellscape of blackouts and everyone having individual channels for their own teams.

Roger Goodell and the owners are selling out a sport’s future for $$ in hand today. It’s going to catch up to them at some point, but not anytime soon. The golden goose will be killed eventually. And McDonald’s will be a losing money joke soon. It happens to the best of businesses when they are run lazily and poorly...when things are almost too easy.

It’s like America/running a country. It’s easier for politicians to just sit back and enjoy the perks of the office and do nothing but find ways to raise taxes to support their dumb/ignorant whims. We could be the world’s juggernaut if we built the infrastructure, brought in investment, negotiated tough with our marketplace competition, responsibly leveraged our natural, abundant resources--then there could low/no taxes for average income families/individuals. It’s easier to do nothing but make empty and silly promises and make the citizen’s pay for it...it’s even easier for the politicians to set up the system to steal the money for themselves and their friends and then give us no/worse service for our tax money sent, and then the politicians constantly ask for more money to solve problems and then they steal that too and we remain with the same problems for years/decades...and yet people keep voting for incompetence in either party or they don’t vote/understanding history or economics on any level at all.

What was I talking about? Oh yeah...the NFL is poorly run, but we all keep supporting their lazy, failed administrative bloat because it’s a nice monopoly and a sport we love. But let’s be sure Roger Goodell makes $100M+ for heading it up again.

-- HEADLINE: Fox 13’s Mark Skol Jr. said Bucky Irving told him he will be “good to go” for training camp.

I don’t know that they’ll cut Bucky loose right away, which is going to keep the Kenneth Gainwell question/issue on usage up in the air...it also allows Gainwell impress as the lead back if Bucky is held back.

I don’t know what TB is thinking at RB for this season...I think it’s not an automatic “it’s all Bucky,” but I do ‘know’ (from a source) that Gainwell personally feels like this going to be a 50/50-ish split with the hope he can pull ahead. Maybe Tampa lies to him like the Arizona people lied to Tyler Allgeier.

The Tampa Bay backfield is going to be a huge preseason issue in the media...especially if Tampa holds out Bucky longer.

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- Slow football news day/weekend, the last if it’s kind for half-a-year. So, let me talk about the World Cup and soccer for a moment...and if this personal opinion after me watching some of the title game Sunday offends anyone -- I’m not apologizing for any of it, it’s my opinion.

So, before we talk about the World Cup/Final here’s my soccer background...it’s limited.

*One of my sons played soccer from age 5-14. City teams. Church leagues. ‘Select’ travel teams. I really enjoyed watching the game of soccer through my son’s career. I love many sports overall--but among youth sports and soccer might have been my favorite ‘watch’ of them all (especially because I didn’t have to coach it). Even though I never played the game myself.

*I’ve watched most of the Men’s USA World Cup games over the past 16-20 years. I’ve watched some Women’s USA soccer games too, but not recently. I watched all the USA Men’s games in this year’s tourney...and also happened to catch half +/- of the Argentina-England semi-final match by accident at a restaurant.

*I watched the 2nd-half of Argentina-Spain final Sunday. I kinda forgot it was on midday Sunday...I was too busy watching my new favorite team: The Pittsburgh Pirates. I had my close friend come in for a visit this weekend and all did was watch sports (baseball, MMA, and old 2025 season football games running on NFL  Network), placing bets on them, and eating too much.

OK, that’s my soccer bio...here’s what I want to talk about...

So, we’re watching the World Cup Finals Sunday, 2nd-half of a 0-0 game. We understood the gravity of the game/finale. So, we’re watching it...and time after time after time after time...guys are falling down all over the place from real hits, quasi hits, phantom hits...falling down to try to get a penalty, obviously...I’ve seen it a million times in World Cup. Not in youth soccer...only in pro soccer.

So, we’re watching Spain-Argentina and the game could hardly flow because everybody was falling down and trying to draw a penalty...acting like they just got shot but a sniper rifle in the leg...always the knee/leg...they could get slightly bumped in the shoulder and they fall down and start clutching their knee in the worst acting job in the history of acting...the WWE laughs at World Cup Soccer player’s physical pain acting skills.

My friend and I just kept commenting--What is going on? Is this their title game? Are these the two best teams in this majestic sport? All they’re doing is flopping around like dead fish every other minute!

It was so awful of a viewing experience...we just turned it off and went back to watching a midseason Pirates-Guardians game instead...that was our statement on how much we valued the championship of the world in soccer.

It was so bad we turned it off.

This was your crown jewel event of your world’s most popular sport, Soccer? Your sport sucks. Not at the youth level, not in in America youth level (haven’t seen youth version in other countries)...your World Cup event--it could be so great, but it overall sucked. When the commentary of every game I watch, when talking to friends who were watching it is--how did they call that blatant acting job a foul? How did they give a red card for that bang-bang play where someone fell down?

The NFL flirts with disaster with all the technical/eyeball contest fouls where penalties get judged by how exactly a big guy landed or didn’t land on a QB. Wide receivers constantly throw their arms in the air and fling their one arm in a gesture to call a penalty/throw a flag. We all hate that. NFL games are now won and lost on a judgement call or not a call made that should’ve been. The NFL has to get this under control before they turn into soccer. We’ve got all this great camera capturing and AI technology...we should check every penalty for 15-30 seconds after it’s called, for a review in a control room to make sure it was a foul.

Optional, just spit-balling: I also think players gesturing and screaming for calls to be made--it should invoke a penalty as well for them acting like idiots. And let the coaches have 3-5 challenges to throw to call for a booth review on a penalty not called, but the coaches/team thinks the refs missed a call. Also let the control room buzz down to the refs on penalties they see.

As bad as the NFL is getting soccer-like, they aren’t (yet) flopping on the ground like a captured marlin on a fishing boat every minute of the game. You can’t earnestly watch/enjoy a soccer game with this constant nonsense...and the NFL is starting to flirt with the same issue, in a different way.

So, my friend and I shut off the soccer title game. But as the Pirates and Astros games got out of hand and we saw on our phones that the World Cup Final was getting late in the game and still 0-0, we turned back to it to see how it would finish.

More flopping.

Eventually, Spain won.

And with all the class in world...after the game ended, a few Argentinian players immediately went over to random Spanish players and sucker punched/pushed and kicked them and knocked them over before they could start celebrating with their team.

My summary of this wonderful, global iconic tournament held in the USA--I was completely turned off by it, the finale was one of the worst sporting events I’ve watched (half of). The referees are an absolute embarrassment...and that’s caused by the governing body allowing the nonsense to happen.

Why soccer is so iconic, when a similar sport is a thousand times more difficult, graceful, with absolutely (almost) no flopping, but doesn’t get NEAR the full respect that it deserves--it’s hockey. Guys could literally get into a fistfight midgame in Hockey and pay an instant price for it...because hockey was smart enough to clean up its sport and doesn’t coddle/cater to fighting and cheap shots anymore. You can legally smash players in hockey if you do it cleanly, but one wrong move trying to play too physically and off the ice you go. Hockey is referee’d wonderfully. Soccer is referre’d like too many European and South American governments are run--illogically, ineffectively, wide-open to fraud, hard-to-watch.

I think of World Cup Soccer today: I conjure the image of players fake-falling down and grabbing at their one random leg and writhing around like they blew out an ACL...and then 10 seconds later they get up and sprint down the field back into play like nothing happened.

I think of World Cup Hockey today: I remember Jack Hughes... https://youtube.com/shorts/AkcWv9umQsY?si=mSpkzFbXhiHIN5tO

-- The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman said Tucker Kraft (knee) “wouldn’t divulge the plans for his participation early in camp” when asked about them on Sunday.

The Packers have no reason to push Kraft. He knows the offense…same coach…same QB. He doesn’t need to be at camp early. If he sits out it doesn’t mean anything. As a Kraft owner I’d want him to sit out. If I see him practicing right away I’d be scared…scared he’s rushing back to be a macho man but it’s gonna set him back at some point.

-- “He’s a dynamic player,” Ben Johnson said, via the Bears’ website. “I’ve known that about him since he came into the league, firsthand up there in Detroit, and certainly last year I wasn’t surprised about the year he had. So, is he capable of more? Absolutely. He absolutely is. He’s a vital part of what we do here.”

-- Cam Skattebo also was asked whether he enjoys being regarded as a “wild maniac.”

I totally enjoy that part,” Skattebo said. “I think I less enjoy the ‘brain-dead kind of guy.’ But it is what it is. I mean, the New York people love it, so I’m just gonna keep being me. And if they wanna say I’m brain-dead and I don’t have no brain, then who cares? Fuck it, you know?”

-- "Coach want me back so I can draw all the coverage and make it easy for the guys that remind him of himself back in his heyday," Brandon Aiyuk posted on his Instagram story, with a thumbs down emoji, a man emoji and a garbage can emoji.

-- George Kittle blasts NFL for World Cup surface at stadium

-- Grey Zabel on the Green Light with Chris Long Podcast:

Poona Ford’s a great example. Dude, just pure raw strength. Like, he picked me up, like just lifted me up as I was trying to base block him, and I’m like, ‘Alright, yah I can’t do anything about it’. Kobie Turner’s the same way…I know for a fact that I would ten times out of ten, I would rather block a bigger, stronger, slower guy than some short, stocky, quick dude who can go side-to side in just like, the blink of a second.”

Zabel was then asked about, and discussed the moment after the Seahawks’ NFC Championship win over the Rams when Zabel immediately went up to Kobie Turner. Zabel explained that he was bummed Turner got hurt in the game, and he wanted Turner to know how much Zabel values facing off against him.

Sean McVay and Les Snead talk about wanting to draft guys who love football and according to Zabel, Turner is exactly that. Also, based on Zabel’s response, he seems to love football as much as anyone else in the league right now.

Well, first off, Kobie Turner is like my kryptonite right now in the game of football. Like, I don’t know what it is, he’s just got my number, he just works me every single game, but it’s so cool. Like I said, as much you, like, want to hate the Rams, like, they’re all really good dudes. Across the board. And like Kobie, for instance, he’s out there and he just smiles. Like he just plays the game for the love of the game. No question about it. And it was a sad deal because he got a little banged up, and he couldn’t finish that NFC Championship Game. So, the moment after the game was done, I just went and talked to him, talked how awesome he was, and what a great game…how fun it is to compete against him. And he’s just an unbelievable guy. I mean, if anybody watching knows Kobie, they know exactly what I’m talking about because it’s…he’s top tier. He’s what makes the game fun to play against defensive lineman.”

 == Daily Series ==

LAR v. SF

1) Puka d. Ricky Pearsall (LAR 1-0)

2) Mike Evans d. Davante (wanted to get the iconic older guys facing off...1-1 tie)

3) Jordan Whittington d. Christian Kirk (LAR 2-1)

4) George Kittle d. Terr. Ferguson (2-2 tie)

5) De’Zhaun Stribling d. Konata Mumpfield (SF 3-2)

Then Rams actually lost at something in 2026! A mild shocker. That Evans-Adams matchup is debatable--but Mike Evans has been a #1 for the past 2-3 years in his 30s...Adams has not been a #1 in a while.

We’re onto the Sweet 16!!
