Today/tomorrow
-- DEBUT: A new/special ‘Top 10 Players for FF 2026’ series of reports from Ross Jacobs will drop this week and run as a 10-day daily series. This series began Saturday 6/6/26, a series exclusively for the Draft Guide.
The debut/#10 was open to all subscribers...#1-9 will be for the Draft Guide package of reports only, as the drive to redraft 2026 is upon us.
-- NOTE: I’m researching and working through all the main/key injuries lingering out there in the NFL/for FF as I work on the draft guide, which has ripple effects for all rankings and ratings and betting, etc. And I am getting a lot/learning a lot from them...and GEMINI does a lot of the heavy lifting/research, so everybody wins.
I’m gonna keep them coming as we dial in the 2026 Draft Guide projections and commentaries. I’m working my way down from the major/monster ones to the more curious/suspect/double-check-and-make-sure-things-will-be-OK injury Q&A’s...like with a Bo Nix (posting today).
-- The month of June is Draft Guide prep and reporting season. It’s pushed back a little bit from usual time ranges due to the Schedule release being so much later this year.
-- A ‘Strength of Schedule’ light reporting, daily series runs through June.
-- Miscellaneous reports on things that come my way and more scouting reports to come. I have a backlog of them to get published already.

== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- HEADLINE: New Orleans Football’s Nick Underhill believes Saints QB Tyler Shough will finish among the top-12 quarterbacks in passing yards this season.
Shough was already tracking ahead of Cam Ward for redraft 2026 QB ADP, now this will add some extra/minor/temp boost to that.
I was one of the original scout-lovers of Shough...before it was cool. I know he’s good, but I think we’re maybe getting a little ahead of ourselves here.
I think we might make Shough one of the topics of me and Ross’s new podcast idea/venture...a scouting review of Shough 2025 to project his future based on a walk through his rookie season.
The debut of our first videos/topics will happen Monday or Tuesday this week ahead. Probably Tuesday or Wednesday if I had to guess...we’re waiting on a YouTube verification for launch. I’ll go into more detail on this new video venture in RC’s Notes ahead of the launch. We already have like 8 episodes in the can, so they say.

-- Now, I'm gonna take a real week off of work... kinda.
This week (Sunday/today is a travel day) kicks off a trip I planned for my family over a year ago. Before I knew anything about having prostate cancer, I was planning my 30th anniversary celebration.
For over a decade, I’d had the notion of taking my wife to Niagara Falls for a special anniversary (we’ve never been). The thought hit me last February, so I went online looking for a house to rent in the area on the US/New York side. I came across an incredible house on a lake that seemed like it was priced wrong—priced too low. It seemed too good to be true. I spent a few days trying to research it, but when I saw the price starting to rise one day in my saved locations, I just went for it and booked it before the rate caught up with all the other houses in the area.
I was a little trepidatious about booking this because the universe has seemingly not wanted my wife and me to ever go to Niagara Falls. For our 20th anniversary, I booked us a room a year in advance at a brand-new, basic Marriott hotel in Niagara Falls. But when we got within two weeks of heading there, I got an email saying there was an issue with the opening. They wouldn't be ready in June, though they offered to help everyone find an alternative place to stay. There aren't that many Marriott hotels on the US side, and with it being only two weeks away, everything was booked anyway—or the prices were 3X what they were a year prior. So, we canceled and planned to go in the future.
For our 24th anniversary, I booked nearly a year ahead for a very nice room at one of the Marriotts on the US side for 2020. Then, in February of that year, there was some talk about a virus in China causing a stir. You can do the math on what things looked like by June of that same year. There was no easy entering the People’s Republic of New York at the time, and hardly anything was open anyway.
So now we’re back for our third attempt at the Falls in 2026. Looks like we might actually make it this time! When I was diagnosed with serious prostate cancer last summer, I thought, Well, I see how this next Niagara Falls trip attempt is going to fall apart! But through the blessing of group prayers and the great care team at MD Anderson—IT. IS. ON!
I am going to try so hard to do as little work as possible Monday through Friday this upcoming week. I owe it to my wife not to work through 80%+ of the annual vacation we take each summer like I usually do. I’m gonna try to relax like I suspect normal human beings do. We’re going to do touristy things, explore local restaurants, and hang out at the massive lake that sits right behind our giant backyard. We’re gonna do the Maid of the Mist and all that, but have plenty of downtime built in this time as well... I hope. That was our agreement, but all of a sudden my wife is trying to find something for us to do every waking second. Grrrr.
If we start trying to do everything and invent things to do at the Falls, turning this into a constant chase for entertainment every day... a 30th Anniversary fight is on deck, and then I will never go on vacation again (it’s quickly becoming one of my life goals). I enjoy my regular life more than any vacation. I’d rather just go on trips to see my kids and friends to hang out and shoot the breeze, rather than turn a simple vacation into The Amazing Race. But maybe, just maybe, we can relax a lot this time.
Knowing me, I’ll get bored of “relaxing” and secretly start working on things... it really is where I find my peace. But like a standard 9-to-5, this trip, I am gonna try to be a good travel companion and just “get away” and relax some. I’m gonna try to get a recharge, just to see what that’s like. I don’t know, maybe I’ll hate recharging. I like chasing projects and information every day.
I got plenty of football material done in advance that will be posting all week, including the new Ross series that was so well received after the first report launched. And I’ll still do RC’s NOTES every morning so I am not out of the loop on NFL things going on.
So, let’s see if I can successfully pretend to be a normal human being and just “be on vacation” to whatever degree I can. Wish me luck! My bet is “I cannot shut it all down,” but I am gonna try.
Look for tales from the road every day in RC’s Notes so I can capture it for my own diary and memories down the road. Off to Pittsburgh today, driving just over halfway there. Niagara Falls arrival on Monday.

NEW for JUNE: 2026 Strength of Schedule analysis according to FFM!
I am putting my data into GEMINI and letting it do two things...do my calculations for me on our internal NFL-based ‘Strength of Schedule’...which takes a ton of things into consideration like our current win-loss projections for all teams 2026, analysis on weather, and travel, and BYE week impacts, etc.
I’m doing a slow burn for some daily fun/fare, BUT I’m also running my AI writer/creation AI_McGillicuddy1 to take all my data and guidance/notes and then make a report on the schedule as if he is an expert schedule analyzer (with our data) and then writes it in his comedic way that I constructed him to be like...a Frankenstein writer, half robot/half football writer/comedian.
We’ll add a team’s strength of schedule per day until we’re done. But we’ll begin with the first two, to get us started, the A’s group and then their quick schedule analysis reports from AI_McGillicuddy1 will hit during the day.
How we evaluate the SOS is a winning percentage (like everyone else), but ours is weighted for certain factors on top of our own internal projections for 2026 season strength of the 32 teams. The higher the % above .500, the tougher the schedule and vice-versa.
Our FFM Internal SOS for 2026, current:
*Adding Warren Sharp’s #1-32 rank on their S.O.S. calculations just for a fun check/parallel to a football research group that also gets that S.O.S. is a whole different animal than just “what was their record last year?” For Sharp Analysis, it’s #1 easiest/#32 toughest scale.

== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- HEADLINE: Sports Illustrated’s Will Ragatz said Kyler Murray’s impressive throws in OTAs “make it hard to imagine” J.J. McCarthy winning the Vikings’ QB competition.
I think I've seen this headline like 50 times, from 50 different media members or outlets or ‘fans’ in the last week or two. So just how many people went to the Minnesota Vikings OTA's? And all 50-100 of them had the same exact opinion, apparently?
I have a feeling they already had their mind made-up before they even went there. Please, mainstream and downstream ‘football analysts’ enough, we get it...you don’t like JJ McCarthy. No mas.
I almost want JJM to win this battle, and thus I will lose a coffee bet I have with Ross on JJM is/not starting Week 1.
-- HEADLINE: NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports that the Browns’ quarterback battle is “wide open” and that QB Shedeur Sanders is “impressing” coaches.
Well, that changed fast! Why, just a week or two ago EVERY analyst said Deshaun was winning this battle. Now, it’s changed (per the media)?
Trying to handicap the real/true QB battles in OTAs is nonsense.
I will only listen to REAL inside information that I get on it, and right now all my sources have early guesses but they don’t put any real stock in the OTAs either.
The MIN and CLE QB battles will not be resolved until August preseason games.
-- HEADLINE: Seahawks TE AJ Barner said he underwent two surgeries after the 2025 season, but he will “be ready to go” for training camp.
GEMINI research:
The most important thing to know about AJ Barner's 2025 injury status is that the specific nature of his core injuries and the exact surgeries he underwent remain strictly undisclosed.
Both Barner and Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald have been intentionally vague when addressing the media. Macdonald jokingly referred to it as Barner "having the things in the offseason," and Barner himself has kept the details under wraps, simply stating: "Y'all saw what it was during the season... It's stuff that I've been dealing with, honestly for my whole pro career."
However, we can piece together the immense physical toll he took based on the official weekly NFL injury reports. Barner was listed on the injury report for 7 out of the final 10 weeks of the season and into the playoffs. Throughout the latter half of the year, he was listed with a laundry list of ailments including:
- Hip
- Elbow
- Shoulder
- Knee
- Ankle
- Calf
The Offseason Surgeries
Despite managing that massive collection of nagging lower and upper-body issues, Barner was incredibly durable. He did not miss a single game, starting all 17 regular-season games (52 receptions, 519 yards, 6 TDs) and all 3 postseason games—even catching a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl.
Immediately after the celebration ended, the bill came due. Just one week after the Seahawks' championship parade through downtown Seattle, Barner went under the knife and underwent two separate surgeries to correct the issues he played through.
Recovery Timeline
Because the exact procedures haven't been revealed, medical experts haven't been able to give a structural baseline, but the team's official timeline is explicit:
Current Status: Barner is sidelined for voluntary OTAs and the spring program while in heavy rehab mode.
Return to Action Window: Both Barner and the Seahawks' medical staff expect him to be fully cleared and ready to go by the start of Training Camp (Late July).
Getting Back to "Normal": Barner noted that the injuries primarily hindered his ability to practice during the week last season. He expects to feel significantly better and make major physical strides once his body is entirely cleaned up from the procedures.
-- HEADLINE: Jaguars RB Chris Rodriguez (undisclosed) remains absent at organized team activities.
Rodriguez has now been out for more than a week. When asked for comment previously, coach Liam Coen simply said, “the injury report will come out at some point here.”
I don’t have any info on this. Trying to get some intel. Could be nothing, probably is nothing.
I only have some speculation he has a mild injury so they’re letting him stay out of OTAs but their next minicamp is June 9-11, so we’ll see if he’s back then.
-- Oh boy will the media lose its collective $#!& if this happens...
https://x.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/2061567116990390664
I think the football media’s two favorite players of all time are Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald...because it’s two uber-productive defenders they can talk about like they know something about defensive talent.
== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==
-- Follow thoughts on the Rome Odunze foot issue... https://x.com/FantasyFootyPT/status/2062710178215010573
-- (PFT) Myles Garrett said in an interview with the Rams’ social media that he would like to discuss Donald’s plans with him.
“We haven’t talked yet but definitely expect to talk soon. I don’t know what his plans are and I won’t pretend to know, but a lot of people are excited and thrilled about the possibility of him coming back,” Garrett said.
-- New Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley wants his team to be good at the tush push, on both sides of the ball.
Asked about the tush push at Organized Team Activities, Hafley said he wants his defense to figure out how to stop it, and he wants quarterback Malik Willis and the Dolphins’ offensive line to figure out how to run it effectively.
“It’s hard to stop, so get good at it and do it,” Hafley said. “I mean it’s really hard to stop. So as long as it’s a legal play, we need to figure out on defense a way to stop it. And with a quarterback like we have with Malik, and some big guys up front, maybe we can get good at it.”
-- “Every single day that I see Mike, I go, ‘wow Mike Evans is here,'” 49ers tight end George Kittle told reporters on Wednesday. “I think I’m annoying it at this point, but still I pinch myself every day.”
On Friday, Baker Mayfield revealed he was shocked when he found out Evans signed with the 49ers.
“There’s no way to sugarcoat it, it’s disappointing to not have him back,” Mayfield told reporters. “Just the caliber player he is, he’s a Hall of Famer, I thought he deserved to be a Buc for life. Things happen but luckily him and I have a great relationship.”

== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- HEADLINE ESPN’s Dan Graziano writes Patriots have received trade interest in WR Kayshon Boutte.
Yeah...ummm...I bet they really aren’t. Maybe a 6th/7th round pick offer...maybe? This is just fake news that the Pats put out to try and gin up some trade hopes/activity. Ultimately, in August probably, they’ll look to make a simple, cheap trade to just dump Boutte.
And I’m sure they are letting his agent know to go seek trades, so that Boutte will realize there really isn’t much of a market for him...not until a major WR gets hurt and a team needs an emergency replacement.
Heck, the Eagles could have demanded him in the AJB trade and gotten him thrown in.
-- HEADLINE Packers signed WR Christian Watson to a four-year, $110.5 million contract extension.
The deal includes a $31 million signing bonus.
Romeo Doubs got $35M guaranteed from New England in free agency.
Wan’Dale Robinson got $38M guaranteed in his free agent move to TEN.
Carnell Tate got $51M guaranteed just for being pick #4 overall.
Jaylen Reed got a $50M deal with $16M+ guaranteed a few months ago.
The headline number ($110M for Watson) looks huge, but he will never see all that money (not even close)--the guarantee amount is the telltale on the deal, and Watson got paid like a decent #2. Which is appropriate with all the time he’s missed with injuries. But he is paid to be the #1 for Green Bay.
The $110M is #12th highest among all WR...just a smidge below Alec Pierce’s payday this offseason, but Pierce got $60M guaranteed. Pierce is not twice as good as Watson...I don’t think he is better than Watson, period. But Watson’s injury history...Green Bay negotiated Watson smartly, and they have supported Watson through and through, so they deserve a little discount.
-- HEADLINE: Lions coach Dan Campbell told reporters they’re going to ask a lot of TE Sam LaPorta (back) this season.
LaPorta’s injury situation is one of my next medical reports outs. We need to see if LaPorta can even live up to this bold statement. Dan Campbell gets amped up, but he is usually not lying...he’s an open book; to his detriment.
-- HEADLINE Steelers signed TE Darnell Washington to a four-year, $42 million contract extension with $21M guaranteed.
Total contract value...7th highest pay out, but again...he’ll likely never see the total deal. Either they will move him or re-do him ahead of the end.
It’s the guaranteed that matters.
Washington’s $21M puts him 8th highest among all TEs...a little more guarantee than Isiah Likely just got.
A solid contract for Washington. I keep looking to see if the new regime is ready to make him a focal point, but this nice deal is more about his blocking ability...that’s what gets mentioned, no hot talk on his receiving potential or increased usage (that I have found that gets me amped on DW’s FF 2026).

6/4 THU
(5:30amET)
Today/tomorrow
-- DRD top 300 update tonight ET.
-- NOTE: I’m researching and working through all the main/key injuries lingering out there in the NFL/for FF. And I am getting a lot/learning a lot from them...and GEMINI does a lot of the heavy lifting/research, so everybody wins.
I’m gonna keep them coming as we dial in the 2026 Draft Guide projections and commentaries. I’m working my way down from the major/monster ones to the more curious/suspect/double-check-and-make-sure-things-will-be-OK injury Q&A’s...like with a Bo Nix coming up, etc.
Next injury research report planned is on Tucker Kraft.
-- The month of June is Draft Guide prep and reporting season. It’s pushed back a little bit from usual time ranges due to the Schedule release being so much later this year.
What we have coming up this week (besides us researching schedules and player projections and writing commentaries for the overall Draft Guide...
* This is Draft Guide early release items week...the vaunted/critical Undervalued (UV), Overvalued (OV), and Deep Sleeper (DS) report players/commentaries will slow release/drop all week along more DG items.
*A new/special ‘Top 10 Players for FF 2026’ series of reports from Ross Jacobs will drop this week and run as a 10-day daily series. This series will also begin this week...a THU/FRI launch, a series exclusively for the Draft Guide.
-- A ‘Strength of Schedule’ light reporting, daily series began Monday...more on that in RC’s Note sections below each day.
-- Miscellaneous reports on things that come my way and more scouting reports to come. I have a backlog of them to get published already.
-- Dynasty, Best Ball, and DRD rankings updates later in the week.
NEW DISCORD NOTIFICATION SYSTEM/INVITE: FFM Discord Notification System
This is not a chat room. It is a one-way channel for FFM notifications about newly posted items and critical breaking news.
This Week’s/Month’s Agenda…
-- 2026 Draft Guide studies.
-- DRD rankings will now update rankings and add/update commentaries, etc., every THU or FRI for the rest of the preseason.
-- Dynasty and Best Ball rankings audits/updates weekly +/-.
-- Holy series QB and RB done. Holy RB Handcuffs underway (on hold for draft, since we’re this close)
-- Full scouting reports on various prospects from now until the NFL preseason. Deeper looks at Cyrus Allen and more all on deck.
-- Any FFM News & Notes or Special Reports during the day as I get them.
-- New coaching staff hire’s analysis series...trying to slot/schedule this. Once the Draft Guide is set, I hope/plan to turn to this.
== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- HEADLINE: 49ers’ OT Trent Williams said Wednesday that he is unsure if he will play beyond 2027.
This news will hit and hardly anybody will notice or care about it, but this really should be more major news...even if it’s something 2 years away. ‘Major news’ from the standpoint that great offensive linemen are just as valuable as great quarterbacks, and if Matt Stafford or Patrick Mahomes were to say they were unsure if they'll play beyond 2027 then people would be buzzing about it.
Williams is the single most valuable player on the San Francisco 49ers. It's not Brock Purdy and it's definitely not Christian McCaffrey and it is absolutely not Nick Bosa, it's Trent Williams...a first ballot Hall of Famer and one of the 10 best/most important players in the league. My projections on Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey are built on the back of Trent Williams. If he goes down, their projections are going down.
-- Tweet/X: I don’t exactly know how to scout/project Rome Odunze’s injury issue he recently spoke about (quoted in this tweet) but the issue + the way he talks about it + his less-than-stellar play so far in the NFL = I think we got a problem here.
https://x.com/danwiederer/status/2062273683754774580?s=46
-- HEADLINE: California authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of 49ers’ WR Brandon Aiyuk.
I feel like we don't give enough focus on just how absolutely stupid the San Francisco 49ers were to watch this guy act like someone who was going off the deep end...and then give him a gigantic contract and then watch him officially go off the deep end... barely stepping on the field under his giant extension.
They had a chance to trade him when he was hot/somewhat sane, but the 49ers are so absolutely poorly run from a management standpoint...they eschewed offers and shoved him a bunch of money. The 49ers personnel management is downright laughable, but then Kyle Shanahan makes it all better because he's arguably the top on-field head coach there is or he's in the top three if he's not #1.
I think when Trent Williams hangs it up, I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle Shanahan hangs it up too--where he just takes off a year and then becomes the hottest coaching free agent in the game.
-- More on the AJ Brown deal and his knee issue from a Yahoo report...
Some of the key quotes on his knee: Yes, Wolf acknowledged, Brown has a degenerative knee condition. But as the player said in his defense, he missed only one regular-season game (plus one playoff game) in three Philly seasons due to a knee injury designation. Brown also missed three games due to a hamstring injury in 2024, per Fox Sports’ record of injury designations. In all seven years of Brown’s career, he’s played at least 13 games.
“It’s a factor, but we examined him,” Wolf said. “He's got a knee that has some wear and tear that we were aware of. Our training staff and medical staff signed off on it.”
-- We plan to slow release the first Draft Guide commentary report/s of 2026 today...one player in each of the UV (undervalued), OV (overvalued), and DS (deep sleeper) rankings is on tap to start us off...and that begins today.
One player, each day for the next 10+ days (the initial top 10+), in each category (UV+OV+DS) will be selected to put/post on the list and integrated into the on-going rankings. So, the first player you see in each...isn’t necessarily THE #1 for the category, they are randomly being selected/placed, one per day for 10+ days.
The slow-release of the UV-OV-DS report players allows everyone to check that they’re subscribed/accessing the Draft Guide for 2026, if they desire to, so when we start really dropping Draft Guide material, you’re already set.
*If you want to see if you’re accessing the Draft Guide already, click the following link and if you can see/read the sample report from last year then you’re good... https://ffmetrics.com/draft-guide/3081-fantasy-football-mock-draft-grade-of-f-it-is-exactly-what-i-m-shooting-for

-- Ross Jacobs’ special ‘Top 10 Players for FF 2026’ report series will also begin this week, one-a-day report releases, starting on Saturday, 6/6/26, and running for 10 days from #10 to #1.

-- George Holani opened with the No. 1 offense at Seahawks OTAs Wednesday, sharing reps with Jadarian Price.
-- (ESPN) The Pittsburgh Steelers extended their second 2023 draft pick in as many days Wednesday, this time reaching an agreement with tight end Darnell Washington on a four-year, $42 million extension that includes $21 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"Love Darnell," first-year Steelers coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday. "He's been here every day, classroom, good student. He's a pros pro. I've been very, very impressed with him. ... Year 1, as you get to know your players, there's certain schemes you may tilt one way or the other, variations of schemes. And definitely we've been doing that with our tight ends, and he's a big part of that reason."
-- (PFT) Odell Beckham: I never wanted to the leave the Giants, and I’m grateful to be back.
-- (ESPN) Ten-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson confirmed Wednesday in a video posted to social media that he's retiring from the NFL to take a job with CBS Sports.
Wilson's announcement came two days after news broke that he was finalizing a deal to become an analyst on CBS' Sunday NFL pregame show.
"As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and 'The NFL Today,' I'm so blessed to continue doing what I love most -- being around the greatest game in the world," he said in the video.
-- (FOX) "As a father, you feel like, ‘Dang, I kind of missed her whole life until adulthood,’" Trent Williams said. "When she goes off to college in a couple of years, I want to be there and be accessible. I don’t want to be that father that shadows a kid. I want to be close. I don’t want to be somewhere at a joint practice when it’s time for her to move in to school, and stuff like that. Little stuff I have to think about."
-- (YAHOO) “I think both quarterbacks have played well enough where we haven’t really been in pads. We haven’t played any games yet.” Todd Monken said “Haven’t really got to that point yet. Every day I kind of lean one way or the other with quarterbacks. I just tell you, we got two starting level quarterbacks. We really do.”
*He didn’t say which two...
-- (Fox) Jared Verse, who was a two-time Pro Bowler with the Rams after they took him with the 19th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, admitted that he was initially disappointed in the move during his introductory press conference on Wednesday.
"It caught me by surprise. I love LA. I loved the coaches, the organization, my teammates … it was upsetting," Verse said. "I was upset for a good little bit of time."

The higher the % above .500, the tougher the schedule and vice-versa

49.73% = Carolina Panthers (#31)
52.25% = Buffalo Bills (#14)
53.11% = Atlanta Falcons (#20)

== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- HEADLINE: Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said Michael Wilson will play the Puka Nacua role, “closer to the core,” as the Z-receiver.
I am having a hard time finding the words to type how I feel about this news coming from the new regime.
So, I can only express my feelings through a video spokesman: https://youtube.com/shorts/thXZUKKYWq4?si=kvB9nKOlXUH0ZhIR
-- HEADLINE: Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said Marvin Harrison Jr. will play the Davante Adams role as the team’s X-receiver.
Good. Go drift outside and never get open like you usually do. Sure, you’ll catch a few contested high points and back shoulders...but you ain’t no Michael Wilson!
Now time for the MHJ theme song: https://youtu.be/SiBe2_xvZRk?si=DF-wIwqLngSyPsib
The single creepiest video in the history of YouTube.
...and you’ll be singing it in your head all day.
You’re welcome.
-- HEADLINE: The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reports the Rams “weren’t satisfied with what they saw” on A.J. Brown’s medicals.
I don’t have a real good feeling on AJB to the Patriots. Not for FF...not for the Patriots. I think they thought that because they got away with doing a deal with the devil last year (Stefon Diggs) that they could do it again this year, maybe.
If you add possible medical issue...then this gets to be a problem.
There are two competing forces in this: Brown’s mental and medical baggage vs. the fact that his last, best contract extension is ahead. If he can just con them quickly and sign a 3-year, $$60M+ deal...then he can flake out and do whatever.
As it stands, the Pats can easily cut him after this season with minimal fiscal impact.
-- HEADLINE: Chris Olave told reporters that he feels a contract extension is “going to get done soon.”
Olave re-signing with the Saints would smack Jordyn Tyson’s value down and make this 2026 Dynasty Rookie Draft even more problematic at the top.
-- HEADLINE: Giants released K Jason Sanders.
Ben Sauls is making his move!!!
== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==
-- NFL insider Jordan Schultz said former Rams DT Aaron Donald told him that returning to the NFL “is a possibility.” Schultz apparently texted Donald, 35, about whether he would consider coming out of retirement to play alongside new Rams EDGE Myles Garrett. Per Schultz, Donald responded by saying he is “for sure flirting with the idea,” and if he can “find the fire, it’s a possibility.”
-- With A.J. Brown and Myles Garrett traded, Alvin Kamara and Brandon Aiyuk move into the spotlight for potential post-June 1 moves.
I spoke to Kamara’s agent, Brad Cicala, yesterday and he said, “We plan on playing for the #Saints in 2026.” From @gmfb
-- (PFT) Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett is sitting out voluntary offseason practices while he seeks a new contract, which means he’s not building chemistry with wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Asked whether he has developed chemistry with Brissett, Harrison answered, “Not much. He’s got to be here to do that.”

It’s a new process...and I’m an old dog trying to incorporate a new trick to my routine. My bad.
I’m gonna go through a few more days of testing/doing the messages right and seeing that everyone is getting them OK and can easily dictate how they want their notifications by their own account.

== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- GEMINI TRADE OVERVIEW: The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots have finalized a major blockbuster trade sending star wide receiver A.J. Brown to Foxborough. The deal has been officially announced by both teams, pending a physical.
The exact trade compensation details include:
New England Patriots receive: WR A.J. Brown
Philadelphia Eagles receive: New England's 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
Behind the Deal: The June 1 Timing
Much like the Myles Garrett blockbuster, the timing of this deal was entirely dictated by the league’s June 1 financial deadline.
Trading Brown prior to June 1 would have forced Eagles GM Howie Roseman to swallow a massive $43.45 million dead money hit on the 2026 salary cap all at once. By executing the agreement on June 1, the Eagles are allowed to split that dead cap hit across the next two seasons—taking a $16.3 million hit in 2026 and deferring the remaining $27.1 million to 2027. While it doesn’t hand Philadelphia immediate net cap space, it keeps them from destroying their 2026 financial flexibility while adding premium, long-term draft assets.
The Fit & Fallout
The move ends months of speculation and friction. Brown was vocal about his frustration with the consistency of the Eagles' offense during a rocky 2025 campaign where his production dipped to a four-year low of 78 catches for 1,003 yards and 7 touchdowns.
The trade lands him in a highly familiar environment. Brown reunites with New England head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him during his first three breakout seasons with the Tennessee Titans. For the Patriots, it reshapes a passing game that recently moved on from Stefon Diggs, providing young quarterback Drake Maye with an elite, physical true No. 1 X-receiver to anchor Josh McDaniels' offensive system. Meanwhile, the Eagles pivot to a reworked wide receiver room that added Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, and Dontayvion Wicks earlier this offseason.
So, it’s A.J. Brown for a 2028 1st and a 2027 5th. But when New England cuts AJB loose and someone else grabs him in a year or two, New England might get a 3rd or 4th-round compensatory pick. So, really... this is essentially AJB for a later 1st-round pick in 2028; the other picks are useless garnish trade-off. Like the Myles Garrett move... it is a smart play for a team on the brink now to add weapons today and give draft picks away much later to do it. The Patriots are better "on paper" today, obviously.
However, I like Philly in this trade as "the winner" big picture... because I think AJB is a played-out sideline/locker room headache that’s an "addition by subtraction" for the Eagles. I think AJB is gonna make Vrabel mad quickly. It’s been years since AJB was ditched by Vrabel in the first place... Brown hasn’t really matured. But it’s only for the season, so they can’t get too hurt by taking a chance... but a 1st-round pick in exchange is a good get by Philly... if they then use it to trade for something else they want this season or next. It’s an asset in the league, even if I de-value it.
I assumed AJB would be traded from Philly all along, like everyone, so this doesn’t really change our projections on him for FF, nor Drake Maye or anything else. It was already baked in. Now it’s official.
-- SIGNINGS (all by NYG): Giants signed WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, formerly of the Chiefs.
Giants signed WR Odell Beckham Jr.
Giants signed WR Braxton Berrios, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year contract.
Ummmm...this is not good. This is a PANIC, in my book. This is John Harbaugh being bad at WRs and now scrambling, spiraling for answers after getting a splash of reality in the past week or so.
If he had signed one WR today, I’m not sure I would have commented on it. But signing three names out of free agency in one day? What happened? Something triggered this.
I think it’s a three-fold issue...
1) I think when NYG saw what we all saw on Malik Nabers two days ago (if you didn’t check out RC Notes yesterday/below)...when you saw him ‘moving’ in a softball game, you had to be jarred. ‘Jarred’ by how immobile he is still...but then jarred/angry (if you’re NYG) asking yourself, why the hell are you out playing softball when you should be uber-protective of your rehabbing knee?
I think it shows incredibly poor judgement by Nabers, to put your livelihood at any risk.
I think it may show Nabers is not rushing back in 2026. My speculation: he’s not being diligent in rehab because he knows what we discovered on our medical research on his situation--when he’s back this year, he isn’t gonna be in peak ability for this season. If I were Nabers, or his advisor, I would also tell him to take all the time in the world and pretty much count on NOT playing this year until late in the season if at all. Be 1000% when you return. Don’t be a hero, it’s not worth it.
Nabers’ money year is 2027, so he can totally take off 2026...he’d be wise to. Why risk a relapse or some other injury or mediocre play, when it will be held against you by the team come contract time? Just skip to a fully healthy best-case 2027.
2) More speculation by me: When John Harbaugh got a load of ‘washed’ Darnell Mooney and ‘not ready’ Malachi Fields, I’m sure/bet he panicked. The Arvell Reese pick could be the death of the Giants. It could’ve been a Jordyn Tyson layup instead.
3) JuJu Smith-Schuster is a Matt Nagy cohort from the KC days, so it was easy for Nagy to push that.
You don’t want Matt Nagy picking your talent. Another Harbaugh mistake.
To wrap this segment up...I think the best WR they signed today was Braxton Berrios. Seriously. JuJu is 2nd best. Signing OBJ is a joke in 2026, at his age...and the drama he brings. OBJ cons another organization. The Giants are really getting conned by elite, but tempremental, LSU WRs in the 2000s era.
-- HEADLINE: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Russell Wilson is finalizing a deal to join CBS to become a sports analyst.
Maybe the biggest mistake involving a Giants thing today...some network putting Russell Wilson on TV. Sanitized football coverage for your protection...
-- I wrote a longer piece on the Myles Garrett trade, but an add note on that -- there are some rumors floating around that Aaron Donald might consider joining back up with LAR. It may be more joking than serious, but...just letting you know.

-- (PFT) “The reality is that I wasn’t willing to give up billions of dollars of taxpayer money in order to give it to a billionaire-owned family, or team, and believe very much that the incentives that we provide for businesses are to be similar to the incentives we provide to this type of business,” Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said Monday, via Mitchell Armentrout of the Chicago Sun-Times.
“As much of an emotional connection as many of us have to the Bears, and to keeping them in the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois, [the] No. 1 principle is we’re not going to foist this on the taxpayers of the state of Illinois.”
I actually agree with the sentiment...cities shouldn’t be paying a ton of money to build a stadium for billionaire owners because it’s the taxpayers paying, BUT maybe Chicago/Illinois would have the money if every politician wasn’t stealing it or wasting it all.
You can’t blame the team for asking.
You can’t blame the state for balking.
Guess who is will pay for this issue...the politicians that let an iconic team the masses love go to another state.

It’s an hour+ long catchup of the entire saga up to a point. If you go down this rabbit hole, we’ll have to find out what’s next...because the story is still in progress, but this gets you up to speed on a wild, interesting hunt for justice story.
An hour+ long video to chew up some time during your day, but this is legit becoming national news this past few days out of nowhere...
https://youtu.be/GwhQHBIqpow?si=NewgK-yOQZ6ZF8H2
Young people rising up against citizen, corporate, and gov’t theft is a beautiful thing...makes us/the USA different than if you did this most anywhere else you’d be killed or imprisoned for trying that kind of stuff.

The higher the % above .500, the tougher the schedule and vice-versa
Our FFM Internal SOS for 2026, current:
57.98% = Arizona Cardinals (may go wire-to-wire as the toughest...I don’t know at this point, I am working/studying on one-a-day...but this one is wicked for AZ)
53.11% = Atlanta Falcons
49.08% = Baltimore Ravens

6/1 MON
(8:11amET)
Today/tomorrow
-- The month of June is Draft Guide prep and reporting season. It’s pushed back a little bit from usual time ranges due to the Schedule release being so much later this year.
What we have coming up this week (besides us researching schedules and player projections and writing commentaries for the overall Draft Guide...
* This is Draft Guide early release items week...the vaunted/critical Undervalued (UV), Overvalued (OV), and Deep Sleeper (DS) report players/commentaries will slow release/drop all week along more DG items. WED/THU start to things.
*A new/special ‘Top 10 Players for FF 2026’ series of reports from Ross Jacobs will drop this week and run as a 10-day daily series. This series will also begin this week...a THU/FRI launch, a series exclusively for the Draft Guide.
-- A ‘Strength of Schedule’ light reporting, daily series begins today...more of that in RC’s Note sections below.
-- Miscellaneous reports on things that come my way and more scouting reports to come. I have a backlog of them to get published already.
-- Dynasty, Best Ball, and DRD rankings updates later in the week.
-- Discord notifications launch TUE/WED.
We’ve been testing notifications...and they go through fine, but I was not inputting the ‘@everyone’ label that needs to go at the end of every notification/post (which is the trigger that sends the notifications to all people who have joined the server/thing), so the notifications posted to the server/page we have BUT no one was getting actual alerts/notifications to their devices!!
It’s a new process...and I’m an old dog trying to incorporate a new trick to my routine. My bad.
I’m gonna go through a few more days of testing/doing the messages right and seeing that everyone is getting them OK and can easily dictate how they want their notifications by their own account.
I thought the testers were being quiet because everything was fine, but it was that they weren’t getting the notifications!
This Week’s/Month’s Agenda…
-- 2026 Draft Guide studies.
-- DRD rankings will now settle into once a week (min.) publishing the DRD top 300+ updates and adding/updating commentaries, etc. Likely every THU or FRI the rest of the preseason.
-- Dynasty and Best Ball rankings audits/updates daily/weekly.
Once The Draft Guide is set, I hope to turn to this.
== NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==
-- HEADLINE/S: Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly said Dolphins WR Malik Washington “seems to be grasping Miami’s playbook faster than the rest of his fellow receivers.”
Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly reports that Dolphins TE has been one of the team’s top performers at organized team activities.
No duh...the veterans (for this young team) receivers get the offense quicker than the others most of whom are attending their first real (kinda) practices in the NFL? Shocking.
The starting trio of WRs is set to be:
Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell on the outside, and the most talented of the group in the slot = Malik Washington. I expect Atwell to also be decent (NFL-wise) in this offense, but I won’t swear to it until I see it in July/August.
Kelly’s ’10 things’ about Miami OTAs (including Willis negativity): https://x.com/omarkelly/status/2061199368137437694?s=43
-- HEADLINE: Bills WR DJ Moore said he is having “growing pains” while adjusting to his new team’s offensive scheme, but he believes things will be “perfect later on.”
Such Amari Cooper ‘in the career fall/fade’ vibes for me with DJM. I could be wrong, but I didn’t like what I saw, along with many other people seeing it, with DJM’s effort last year...not a big believer in this year it somehow changes. It’s just a gut feeling from watching him the past two years.
-- HEADLINE: ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports that Patriots WR DeMario Douglas took the first rep for every positional drill at organized team activities on Wednesday.
This is some kind of news out of OTAs, except...we all already knew this was coming...or I did, when Mike Vrabel said he was tasking the coaches to start featuring/involving ‘Pop’ (Douglas). So, the coaches are following the orders.
The other side of this is: my long-lost love, Kyle Williams is nowhere to be found as a taken-seriously starter option.
But none of this probably matters when New England announces they’ve acquired A.J. Brown from Philly today/this week. The starting WR group for NE will be: AJB, Doubs, Hollins most likely.
== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==
-- According to John Shipley of Sports Illustrated, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington has continued to impress during the team's OTAs and is set to play the "most important role" of his young career during the upcoming season. According to Shipley, Washington has made a strong case to be named the team's OTAs MVP as he continues to find success in this offense.

Well, we tried to keep it quiet. But... https://youtu.be/x30fYiwKm4U?si=9u4UqDPciYUuA8-L
-- (Pewter report): “As good of a week as [Emeka] Egbuka had catching the ball, I was told that [Jalen McMillan] was slightly better.” With other reports saying that McMillan has been getting tons reps at all 3 WR spots, and could start at the X, it seems like he may be primed to bounce back from last year’s scary neck injury.
RC NOTE: OK, I’ll buy your Egbuka shares at a discount then...
-- Via Jason La Canfora for SportsBoom:
One general manager, who is not involved in the process but has been in contact with several parties who are, said: “I hear it’s New England for a 2028 first-round pick. He’s a good football player, but that’s a helluva deal for (Eagles GM) Howie (Roseman).” […] Another general manager, who said he was unsure of the compensation but expected Brown to be with New England by the end of the week, said, “It’s getting done. Howie is ready to put this behind him.”
-- (YAHOO) The Cardinals ended up drafting Love third overall, one pick ahead of the Titans, so it’s unknown whether Tennessee would have drafted Love.
Pollard was unbothered by talk of the Titans taking his replacement.
“I know in this league, it’s their job to try to replace you,” Pollard said, via Nick Suss of The Tennessean. “That’s what comes with the business. To be honest, I wasn’t really paying attention to it. Not much. I’d seen it, but I’ve got a wife and three kids and my wife’s pregnant, so I’ve got a lot of things that keep me occupied.”
