We're looking at free agency ahead of the official FA start period (March 12th, kinda officially…but things are happening all week+ prior), going position by position to discuss some of the big names, tour top ranked guys, as well as the sleepers and frauds of the group…and we'll make some throwaway/dart throw predictions on landing spots.

Today's position group: EDGE Rushers

The consensus top three RBs available…

1) Khalil Mack, LAC

2) Josh Sweat, PHI

3) Haason Reddick, PHI

FFM’s Top Three EDGE Available...

1) Khalil Mack, LAC

He’s 34 years old, but he’s still got it. At his age, his 2025 contract will be a one-year mercenary deal -- great for teams trying to win now and don’t want to commit money long term to waste of money pass rushers (as you know I think they all are).

Two years ago, he had 17.0 sacks. Last year, just 6.0 -- but it was the scheme switch some to blame and yet he still was a 2024 Pro Bowl’er.

2025 FA PREDICTION: The Chargers should want him back, but I suspect Mack is going to the highest bidder. A return to Las Vegas is possible if the Malcolm Koonce bidding gets silly. Washington is possible if they move on from Dante Fowler. I have no idea where he goes, but I would bet it is a contender/high bidder...possibly back to LAC. He’s not going to a rebuild/highest bidder.

2) Malcom Koonce, LV

The most talented young pass rusher available in free agency. He could find a shocking amount of interest in this free agency period.

2025 FA PREDICTION: It seems the Raiders really want him back...Pete Carroll has said as much, but we’ll see if the market goes heavier for him than people realize. Watch for the Eagles as a potential spot if the Raiders bow out...it was originally a Mike Mayock pick and Mayock is cozied up to the Eagles now, big time.

3) Josh Sweat, PHI

Younger-ish (28 this season) pass rusher, been solid for years...if you’re looking for pass rushers, Sweat is ‘something’. He’s never been great, but he’s always been OK/good. I wouldn’t spend the money on him but there’s not many other options left to love among the EDGE FA group.

2025 FA PREDICTION: Philly passes on re-signing him and some bad team/bad geography team with lots of money that can’t attract top tier free agents throws a bunch of money at him -- maybe the Bengals or Patriots make this mistake.

The fraud EDGE of free agency 2025: Haason Reddick, PHI

This guy... He should get a 1-year incentive contract to prove himself, but he got a lot of sacks a couple seasons ago for a 3-year stretch and thus some team will chase him hotter than they should. He’s strictly sacks or bust, which I absolutely cannot stand for a defense’s efficiency.

2025 FA PREDICTION: Put himself in a (bad) spot, after his 2024 shenanigans, where he’ll have to take a 1-year deal, which means he’ll probably go to a contender bottom fishing. If he goes where the money is...he might go to Arizona to get back with Jonathan Gannon, where he had his two best years of his career...and where he was a former 1st-round draft pick of.

The best value EDGE in free agency 2025: Dante Fowler, WSH

10.5 sacks, very quietly, last season. He’ll be a value because he’ll likely stay with Dan Quinn because he’s flourished under him. He could be bought if someone threw enough money at him, but I don’t think anyone will. He’s the value EDGE...the value for the Commanders.

2025 FA PREDICTION: Stays with Washington on a 1-year deal.

The deep sleeper EDGE in free agency 2024: Joseph Ossai, CIN

5.0 sacks in his final 7 games...10 QB hits in that span. He was finally starting to come into his own after a choppy 4 years in Cincy. He might be a real steal for some team because he doesn’t have a name/buzz about him in free agency.

2025 FA PREDICTION: Might he join his old Cincy D-C in Indy...or he may be pissed at him for not giving him the chance until late last season due to injuries to others. He’s up for grabs if not going to Indy.
