Let's go through a Rashee Rice update and my predictions as to what happens from here and the FF valuation changes...
We (the world) have now gotten video tape of the accident event...including Rice and friends walking away from the scene of the crime. We also now have Rice starting to admit his guilt. We have word/rumor of marijuana being found in the vehicle. It all seems very damning, but no one was fatally injured.
If you parallel this to Alvin Kamara and friends caught on tape beating (punching and stomping) a man senseless at a hotel the night before the next day’s Pro Bowl – that case dragged out for two years, was finally settled, and all Kamara got was a 3-game suspension.
My guess/projection, without any legal research/just going off prior NFL events like this, as to what happens from here and the FF impacts is...
Rice will either drag this case out and then settle with/pay out to all the banged-up cars and their drivers...or he’ll not drag it out but settle it quickly to help it get forgotten for when he’ll be up for a contract extension in a couple years.
Ultimately, regardless of the time that it takes, Rice is going to pay a lot of money to replace cars and for ‘trauma’/pain and suffering the victims feel in a civil court threat or trial. He’ll buy his way out of trouble, like 99% of the horrific cases a few NFL players have wrought to society, property, or women.
Rice will have top representation and get some kind of slap on the wrist for walking away from the scene of a crime, speeding, endangering lives, reckless driving, and a probable DUI. He’ll probably lose his license (suspended) for 6-12 months, attend some classes, and it won’t really affect him as a human -- because he can get to his job via Uber or a friend who becomes his driver or he moves to a property close to the KC facility and walks or electric bikes to work, etc., until he gets his license back. Or the team offers up some kind of chauffeur/taxi services (that he pays for...because he can’t be trusted to manage his own life, like the majority of players).
Once the case settles THEN the NFL will hand down a suspension...with no fatalities and Rice losing money and driving privileges and settling up with all the victims...I’d guess he will get a 2-3 game suspension in 2025, when this is more forgotten, and all legally settled.
If somebody is FF-dumping Rice for .10-.20 cents on the dollar, I’d be a vulture buyer for a flip later...but other than that, I’m not interested in Rice because I think he is a potential problem player going forward...he’s not that swift, and not that great of a WR...just landed so fortunately. Kinda like Gabe Davis with the Bills – big numbers, thanks to his situation in Buffalo/with Josh Allen, and it’s exciting/fresh name at first...but then everyone realizes he’s not that good and we kinda forget about him...but he pops up from time-to-time with big FF games....and his original team just lets him walk in free agency for a sucker NFL team to pay him.
If you own Rashee in Dynasty, I’d just hold him and wait for closer in the season start/August when all this stuff blows over/is lost in the hype of the season starting and then sell him off if the opportunity presents.
Will the Chiefs cut him like they did to Kareem Hunt? When you think about it, Rice should be cut for the same reason they did Hunt...but they likely won’t do that here because there is no victim on tape to see/feel sorry for...just some banged up cars. It’s unfair, but the truth is...we (society) have different standards for these things.
Alvin Kamara and friends stomped the crap out of a man in a hotel hallway, caught on tape, beating him and doing permanent damage to him...and that warranted a 3-game suspension.
Kareem Hunt violently shoved and kicked a female, caught on tape, and he was quickly cut...ultimately, suspended for 8 games. Then signed pretty quickly as a free agent; given a second chance and no one even remembered his transgressions after a few games after his return to action for the Browns.
What kind of NFL punishment will Rashee Rice get for damaging cars on tape? He’ll keep his KC job and get a 2-3 game suspension, I suspect.
