Add Intro: Now, more featuring my (RC) news and notes from the day's/week's discussions and/or studies...

Old Intro: Whenever I come across any football news reports/articles in my research or sent to me by FFMers that I think are interesting or back up/contradict/debate things I've discussed, I'd like to share them for extra/interesting reading material...and have them put into the archives so if you you are researching things about a player or situation, you can search it on the FFM site and it's part of the arsenal for your research.

It will be mostly reports on players/situations not as discussed nationally (but could be from national/big media sites), but are (hopefully) relevant to Dynasty/Fantasy/Handicapping purposes as we go...with the occasional item that I just thought was interesting in general about anything football related.

Here's what I have for this day (noting the players/situation discussed for future archive search purposes with a link to the article):

FFM News: Football News/Reports of Interest (7/2/23)

 -- Tim Patrick

There was a report/comment by James Palmer (NFL Network) last week, where he said: Multiple people in the Broncos’ building believe Tim Patrick is “the best football player” in the team’s wide receiver room.

I believe that is probably a true statement, but a couple thoughts I had when I saw this…

1) I do, personally, believe Patrick is the best WR the Broncos have -- but that’s his pre-ACL self. Not sure how he’ll run/go this year. He’ll be 30 years old this season and coming off a big injury. Tough to bounce back great/under timeline. New offense…and he can’t be a full participant yet…he’s losing valuable time/he’s lost valuable time.

2) I believe players believe Patrick is their best WR…not because he’s great, but he’s good…but more because the other WRs stink. Courtland Sutton, as I chronicled last offseason, is a WR time has gone by. He’s not a new era WR. He’s just a so-so deep ball/fling it up for grabs guy -- and Patrick is taller with better hands to be in that role.

And most of you know how I feel about Jerry Jeudy. Not my cup of tea…never has been.

I believe that Sean Payton isn’t enamored with Sutton/Jeudy either -- I think he looked at the Broncos’ tape upon getting hired and thus we all saw the Sutton and Jeudy trade rumors pre-NFL Draft. Only, no one wanted them worth trading for/away.

If Patrick is fully back, I believe he’ll potentially be the #1 WR…but I also don’t think that means he’s an FF WR1 killer or sleeper in hiding. It will likely be erratic output/results with Sutton and Jeudy not just going away. They’ll all split each other up for targets/output, I would suspect.

And don’t forget -- the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL two years running is now part of the fix-it team for potentially dying off Russell Wilson for Denver 2023. Probably not much help to the passing game overall in 2023 no matter who could be the breakout WR of the group.
