2022 Dynasty Rookie Five-Round Mock Draft Series Two (pick slot #12)
It’s been 2+ months since our first 12-part DRD mock draft series. It’s time for the follow up now that we’re into training camps starting…for those who rookie draft in August.
We’ll publish a mock draft daily, starting from the #12 spot (as reflects most FFMers from a nice 2021) and we’ll take it in order down to #1 slot mock.
Parameters: Half-PPR, 4pts per pass TD, one flex spot/non-Superflex.
1.1 Breece Hall
1.2 Drake London
1.3 Garrett Wilson
1.4 Ken Walker III
1.5 Treylon Burks
1.6 Jameson Williams
1.7 Chris Olave
1.8 Skyy Moore
1.9 Christian Watson
1.10 James Cook
1.11 George Pickens
1.12 Dameon Pierce = I want Tyler Allgeier as a top priority RB from the rookie drafts, and I know I need a mid-2nd-round pick to ensure it…but I might pull it off with any 2nd round pick (12 team league) here.
Allgeier is now right on that #20-25 bubble of in/out of 2nd-round…but he’s gaining momentum into the #20 range and heading towards the ‘teens’.
I’m gonna take Pierce here as a shot to get past Mack-Rex ASAP…with a chance to get Allgeier next.
In reality, I trade this asset to get a #15-18 pick to take Allgeier and get ____ in the deal with the pick for my trouble for doing so.
------------------------------
2.1 Jahan Dotson
2.2 Rachaad White
2.3 Kenny Pickett
2.4 Zamir White
2.5 David Bell
2.6 John Metchie III (bad news on leukemia…he’s gonna fall hard now, but this mock was right before that news hit)
2.7 Trey McBride
2.8 Isaiah Spiller
2.9 Alec Pierce
2.10 Malik Willis
2.11 Tyler Allgeier
2.12 Jelani Woods = Of course Allgeier went one pick in front of me. Couldn’t be 3-4-5 picks in front to be bad enough, it had to go right to the pick in front of me to torture me. So, I take my 2nd favorite player from this draft…way ahead of his ADP range…but no chance I’d get him at 3.12.
------------------------------
3.1 Jalen Tolbert
3.2 Wan'Dale Robinson
3.3 Desmond Ridder
3.4 Khalil Shakir
3.5 Matt Corral
3.6 Brian Robinson Jr.
3.7 Greg Dulcich
3.8 Tyrion Davis-Price (falling)
3.9 Velus Jones Jr.
3.10 Hassan Haskins
3.11 Tyquan Thornton
3.12 Calvin Austin III = My new favorite ‘weapon’ WR. I have Kyle Philips rated much higher, but I’ll get him next pick…if I thought there was any risk at all of missing out on Phillips in the 4th, I’d take him here. Maybe I should take KP here, but I feel good about my odds for getting him the next round. Philips has not caught real heat with the public yet so not been getting scooped on him often.
------------------------------
4.1 Pierre Strong Jr.
4.2 Romeo Doubs
4.3 Keaontay Ingram
4.4 Jerome Ford
4.5 Sam Howell
4.6 Justyn Ross
4.7 Cade Otton
4.8 Tyler Badie
4.9 Kyren Williams
4.10 Danny Gray
4.11 Jeremy Ruckert
4.12 Kyle Philips = OK, I wasn’t scooped on Phillips here. I probably should’ve taken him 3.12 to not miss out -- he’s got a chance to be one of the top WRs from this draft. I shouldn’t have risked missing out.
------------------------------
5.1 Daniel Bellinger
5.2 Bailey Zappe
5.3 Kevin Harris
5.4 Isaih Pacheco (DANG IT…this is who I want. Next mock I will take Philips 3rd and then Pacheco 4th. No screwing around, getting cute…no need to)
5.5 Charlie Kolar
5.6 Ty Chandler
5.7 Isaiah Likely
5.8 Snoop Conner
5.9 Trestan Ebner
5.10 Carson Strong
5.11 Chigoziem Okonkwo
5.12 Abram Smith = Just taking a flier that the Saints lose Kamara for 4-6 games in August, and they try to go ancient Ingram to bridge the time, and that maybe he has issues and there’s some emergency need to force Smith to get a shot -- hoping that Smith delighted a little in camp and gets some shock touches early on 2022.
