RC's daily streaming notes on football, and other, things going on this week...

5/31 SUN

(6:51amET)

Today/tomorrow

-- Discord notifications launch is delayed by a day or two.

I just discovered, after the NBA playoff game last night, that I screwed up some of my testing...all week.

We’ve been testing notifications...and they go through fine, but I was not inputting the ‘@everyone’ label that needs to go at the end of every notification/post (which is the trigger that sends the notifications to all people who have joined the server/thing), so the notifications posted to the server/page we have BUT no one was getting actual alerts/notifications to their devices!!

It’s a new process...and I’m an old dog trying to incorporate a new trick to my routine. My bad.

I’m gonna go through a few more days of testing/doing the messages right and seeing that everyone is getting them OK and can easily dictate how they want their notifications by their own account.

I thought the testers were being quiet because everything was fine, but it was that they weren’t getting the notifications!

-- Quiet football weekend for any major reports or things. We have a couple projects we’ve been working on that will be released.

A new wave of action/series hits Monday next week.

We’re using a lot of time right now working on the draft guide...the first early-release pieces of that are planned to release next week.

-- Miscellaneous reports on things that come my way and more scouting reports to come. I have a backlog of them to get published already.

This Week’s/Month’s Agenda…

-- 2026 Draft Guide studies and commentary writing is about to start. More info on timings of the first reports to hit, etc., coming soon

-- DRD rankings will now settle into once a week (min.) publishing the DRD top 300+ updates and adding/updating commentaries, etc. Likely every THU or FRI the rest of the preseason.

-- Prospect grades by position and rookie rankings boards are being debuted, updated and added to daily/weekly up to kick off 2026.

-- Dynasty and Best Ball rankings audits/updates daily/weekly.

-- Holy series QB and RB done. Holy RB Handcuffs underway (on hold for draft, since we’re this close)

-- Full scouting reports on various prospects from now until the NFL preseason. Deeper looks at Demond Claiborne, Kaelon Black, Cyrus Allen and more all on deck.

-- Any FFM News & Notes or Special Reports during the day as I get them.

-- New coaching staff hire’s analysis series...going through the entire staff...I am working on the framework of how I want to present that. This will be a first ever series (for me) where I go beyond ‘just the new head coaches’. ETA in June to start it up.

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE/REPORT (PFT): "There's been a lot of guys that have done really well for two days in pajamas," Dan Campbell told reporters.

Campbell went on to explain that while the non-contact, OTA practices serve a purpose, he isn't putting too much stock into them insofar as predicting who will thrive during training camp.

"I’m done with the hype of a pajama party in May," Campbell said. "It's about the mental, it's about the movement skills. All that other stuff doesn't matter. We’ll find out in training camp who’s who."

"I’m not hyping anybody up," Campbell said. "Not in May."

"Nobody’s gonna win a job in the spring," he later added. "So, that's where we're at."

I’ve only got one thing to say to this: https://youtu.be/cusQfJKn8c0?si=IMOiE4Hnz_jqW1Hc

EXACTLY!

When I was a young whippersnapper in this business I would get all into OTAs and rumors and people’s observation reports and I would try to go see practices for myself. When there’s the quiet offseason but then a blip of OTAs, well fans tend to get super-excited. But I’ve been around long enough now to know they don’t mean $#!& for the most part.

A lot of key guys aren’t even there. Everything is shorts and t-shirts, which is not real football, so I don’t care who looks accurate throwing passes and who is catching the ball well from OTA reports. It’s all meaningless, just like the Senior Bowl practices 11-on-11 are serious head fakes on scouting players when you can’t touch the QB...and RBs don’t get tackled, etc. When you might get popped by a defender...everything changes. Dan Campbell captured the reality perfectly.

I get OTA reports from people on the ground for me to just ‘know’ some things they see but none of them are a top-secret things that only my source saw...because its generic practices. It’s getting young guys and new guys used to the team. It’s not real football. It’s not an FF changing event...unless someone gets a season-ending injury.

So, I don’t waste my time with ‘OTA buzz’ reports. There’s plenty of those misleading, worthless ‘what I saw at OTAs’ reports from people who don’t know how to scout anything online, or on X etc., for you to look at.

If I get any serious info that no one else really has or is a big game changer thing, I’ll share it. Otherwise, it is football in pajamas. Dan Campbell has another all-time quote.

-- HEADLINE/REPORT: ESPN’s Kevin Seifert writes that the gap between Vikings QB Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy “was not close.”

“Murray made all of the best throws of the practice, demonstrating his downfield touch and accuracy,” he wrote.

Again, we’ll see what happens when they really start playing.

I can’t trust the media observing things because they are already predisposed to hate JJ McCarthy, so I don’t think a thing of what they claim they are seeing. The national beat reporters could be 100% right with what they do see, in these OTAs, but I can’t trust them ever...I have no reason to.

This QB situation won’t be resolved until August, but I don’t think August or OTAs matter because I don’t think Kevin O’Connell really wants JJM anymore...so, he’s going with Kyler, unless Murray melts down or gets hurt.

This is about as much of a competition as when Daniel Jones was brought in to ‘compete’ with Anthony Richardson. The decision on the starting QB was made the day Dimes signed his contract. Same for Kyler v. JJM.

I do like that JJM is being a touch salty about it all. It won’t be long before he is traded to LAC.

-- (PFT) The hiring of Seahawks assistant G.M. Nolan Teasley as the Vikings’ new G.M. will carry a specific benefit for his former team.

Per the league, Teasley qualifies as a diverse candidate under the NFL provision that gives the former team of a newly hired G.M. or head coach a pair of third-round compensatory draft picks.

I didn’t realize this was even the rule.

I want to comment on it, but what’s the point? It doesn’t affect FF.

-- Here’s how Teasley got the GM job, which is smart/logical--it’s a relationship business like most businesses...

Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune notes that Teasley and O’Connell “have known each other for years,” and that they built a relationship through O’Connell’s connection to Seahawks G.M. John Schneider.

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- “He’s a great dude,” Mahomes said of Kenneth Walker. “That’s the first thing I noticed. You can tell he truly cares about football, (and) he cares about his teammates. If he’s not in the play, he’s helping the guys on the sideline, and he’s trying to learn and asking me questions and doing those things. He’s a great football player, even from what y’all saw (Thursday), it’s special.

“The way he’s able to run the football, catch the football, (and) do everything. I said, ‘I’m kind of built like him (laughing), but not just built like him yet.’ He’s going to help us a lot on this team, by his mindset and the football player that he is.”

-- Malik Willis's top target, per OTA reports (I’ve seen a few people comment on this): https://x.com/SleeperMiami/status/2060484075471745055

-- (PFT) While significantly less than the $17.7 million earned by Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter’s figure also breaks the prior single-year record of $9.5 million, set by Tom Brady.

Unlike Sanders, who signed a four-year, $4.647 million deal as a fifth-round pick, Hunter’s rookie deal pays $46.49 million — fully guaranteed.

-- The recent amendment to the Brian Flores civil complaint adds new allegations regarding a “culture of retaliation,” based on his decision to assert his legal rights in court. In reviewing the document, something stood out.

In paragraph 235 of the third amended complaint, Flores alleges that the Dolphins failed to make contractually-required severance payments. In paragraph 236, Flores claims that the Dolphins also have tried to recover money already paid to Flores.

To make matters worse, after this lawsuit was filed, the Dolphins filed a letter with Commissioner Goodell seeking an arbitration over claims that Mr. Flores should be required to return hundreds of thousands of dollars of earned income,” Flores alleges. “The only reason that the Dolphins filed this request is because Mr. Flores filed this suit and opposed the team’s discriminatory conduct.”

Your moment of Zen for this day...

 == Daily 'LIST' Series ==

Just a few observations after I put this list together over the last month...

*There are no TEs or DTs or SAF or PKs on the list. Brock Bowers, Jeffrey Simmons, Brandon Aubrey, and Brian Branch (CB/SAF) were the closest to making it as representatives at those positions.

I’m not anti-DTs, I’m a DT fan...but I don’t think any of the current guys were worth being top two for their team. If Aaron Donald was around, then he would have been top five on the league for sure.

*20 QBs...24 OLs on the top 64 (32 x 2).

Next highest positions...WR and CB tied with six each, and Travis Hunter is #7, for both positions...I guess.

I’m launching the next, new daily ‘list’ thing for a MON/TUE launch.

THE FINAL:

Let’s rank The Best players/The Most Important players in the NFL!

The NFL does that series each summer where the players (and maybe others?) vote on the top 100 for the prior season, and the outcome (to me) is like a voting by people who never watch football besides highlights and people without a clue voting in very bizarre ways. You know this series, right?

Well, I was wanting to do a kinda top 100 type thing myself, but I am going to tone it down to the top 64...but using two players from each team, so it may be more of a true top 40-50(?) with some forced stragglers on there for the player’s after 40-50+...but it should be ‘close enough’ and ‘interesting enough’, and I guarantee my rankings will be way different than the NFL voting.

I’ll do a team a day, two players from it and when we get enough you’ll see 4-5 tiers develop. I’ll go alphabetical order, but to switch up my usual pattern...I’ll do a reverse alphabetical order. We start with Washington and add two more each day until we get to Arizona.

*When I have an offensive lineman, I’m going to add their overall grades from PFF last year for some context...XX Overall Grade/rank at their position...XX/x, XX/x Pass/Run Block grade with the rank at their position for 2025.

Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert/Patrick Mahomes, Caleb Williams, Josh Allen, Matt Stafford, Tristan Wirfs (93/2nd OT...85/4th, 92/3rd), Penei Sewell (95/1st OT...80/11th, 97/1st), Trent Williams (92/3rd OT...80/12th, 93/2nd), Garrett Bolles (89/5th OT...91/1st, 81/14th), Baker Mayfield

Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Jayden Daniels, Creed Humphrey (89/1st OC...84/1st, 89/2nd), Puka Nacua, Andrew Thomas (90/4th OT...87/3rd, 85/7th), Rashawn Slater (2024 numbers: 91/2nd OT...90/3rd, 78/15th), JaMarr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Drake Maye

Jordan Mailata (88/6th OT...82/6th, 82/6th), Laremy Tunsil (85/8th OT...89/2nd, 75/21st), Grey Zabel (From Wk14 on, the SEA march to SB: 82/8th OG...79/10th, 82/5th...9 grades in the playoffs), Tetairoa McMillan, Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, Quinn Meinerz (89/1st OG...71/20th, 92/1st),  Zach Tom (84/7th OT...79/15th, 82/12th), Kolton Miller (hurt 2025, 2024: 81/14th OT, 82/11th, 72/25th), Aaron Brewer (87/2nd OC...71/10th, 92/1st), Joe Thuney (78/5th OG...88/1st, 71/15th), Dak Prescott, Quinyon Mitchell, Christian Gonzalez, Chris Lindstrom (88/2nd OG...62/35th, 92/1st)

Sauce Gardner, Jaycee Horn, Derek Stingley, Christian Darrisaw (healthy...he’s top tier, but injuries are killing him), Jared Goff, Tyler Linderbaum (80/4th OC...63/22nd, 84/4th), Daniel Jones, Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers, Travis Hunter, Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson, Peter Skoronski (79/5th OG...85/2nd, 73/10th)

Michael Wilson, Joey Porter Jr., George Pickens, Myles Garrett, Malik Willis, Breece Hall, Bijan Robinson, Parker Washington, Carson Schwesinger, Kelvin Banks (74/29th OT...70/41st, 76/19th), Armand Membou (73/31st OT...74/31st, 72/27th), Will Anderson,  Isaac Seumalo (78/19th OG...81/2nd, 68/35th), Erik McCoy (68/16th OC...84/1st, 62/25th), Spencer Brown (77/20th OT...61/66th, 85/7th),

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: North Jersey’s Art Stapleton reports that Giants RB Cam Skattebo (ankle) “snuck into some positional drills with QB Jaxson Dart early in practice and seemed to be moving well.”

This is big FF news...nice NFL news for NYG. All things are pointing towards the offense being a heavier run game than pass game, by design/desire. I never hear a peep about Tyrone Tracy. All things point to a 65/35 type split for Skatt/Tracy.

-- HEADLINE: Jaguars coach Liam Coen said he is focused on improving the deep passing game, particularly the chemistry between QB Trevor Lawrence and WR Brian Thomas.

Good luck with that.

It’s definitely how Brian Thomas should be used, he’s not a traditional all-over #1 WR by any stretch...but this is not Trevor’s game; he is not great with the deep ball. It’s been an issue his whole career, but we cant say that out loud or the NFL intelligentsia will admonish you for ever critiquing their next-failed ‘generational talent’.

There’s one sure-fire, 100% accurate bet in football = When the entirety of the football scouts and coaches and media tells you something is a ‘generational talent’...it isn’t.

If football scouting and analysis were a real business with accountability, a high failure rate in scouting the industries supposed biggest assets coming would get you fired 10x over...instead, there’s no accountability and the same people are revered and listened to even more on the next one. No one should expect perfection, but 80-90% wrong on the BEST things (supposedly) coming in the industry? Wow.

It’s not exclusive...Stock Market analysts are almost always wrong or late. The national media is almost always wrong...and then not even late, they intentionally cover up their issues. Economists are usually ‘surprised’ by every reality versus their estimates. National Fast Food chains chase ever worse service and quality...but hey, we got wacky sodas now!

Where was I? Oh, yeah...Trevor is not generational.

-- HEADLINE: Titans QB coach Shea Tierney is “encouraging” QB Cam Ward to run the ball more this season.

It was like midseason 2025, out of nowhere reports all hit that Ward said he was gonna run more--and then ran for 33 and 37 yards, his two season highs...then he decided he didn’t have to anymore and went under 11-yards (high) and mostly single digits the final 6 games of the 2025 season.

My point is...Cam has it in him to be a bit of a danger running the ball. He’s got decent feet and a big frame. It could boost him for a QB1 surge, if true.

-- I always like Grant Cohn’s reports on SF, even though I see about half the time he’s right about OTA/practice observation things when the season actually unfolds...but it’s interesting input to take in and consider from a firsthand observer, and usually presented in a quick, direct opinion way. https://youtu.be/56DqCchPAsc?si=j-vVQI2PHxaxhFMS

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- (PFT) Based on this week’s OTA session that was open to the media, newcomer Kyler Murray is well ahead of incumbent starter J.J. McCarthy.

Here’s the key quote from Kevin Seifert of ESPN: “Overall, the afternoon was a reminder that McCarthy could continue along the upward trajectory he established at the end of last season -- and still fall well short of matching Murray’s experience, arm talent and potential to make big plays in the passing game.”

-- Yikes...details on the Brendan Sorsby betting details: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/brendan-sorsby-made-40-indiana-related-bets-while-on-the-indiana-roster

-- More on Sorsby...on the other hand: https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/patriots-kayshon-boutte-might-hint-that-brendan-sorsbys-nfl-chances-are-fully-intact-202756927.html

-- (YAHOO) Diontae Johnson posted a video of himself training and catching passes while working on his route running and footwork. The Toledo product did not play a regular season game in 2025.

-- FINALLY...decent humans discussing differences not sniping at each other like idiots...the media will not like ‘understanding’ and ‘unity’, they must have ‘strife’ and ‘division’ among football players and all mankind walking the planet: https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rather-rip-giants-jaxson-dart-221534250.html

-- Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated shared that encouraging update during Friday’s Early Edition. As we inch closer to the June 1 date that Patriots fans have circled on their calendars, Breer explained that New England’s trade for the star wide receiver is expected to go through barring “someone backing out.”

My understanding is the framework is in place for a trade to be made early next week that will make A.J. Brown a Patriot,” Breer said. “The exact terms, the details, I still think there are some things to be worked out there. But I think it would sort of take someone backing out at this point, whether it’s the Eagles or the Patriots, for it not to happen.”

 == New Daily Series ==

IT’S A WRAP...a final few tweaks today...and we’re on to a new daily list series SUN-MON start.

Let’s rank The Best players/The Most Important players in the NFL!

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots and Eagles are “not particularly close” on the trade compensation for A.J. Brown.

I don’t have any strong inside info, but I’ve been told a deal’s basically been done since pre-Draft, they just need to get to June 1st with everything/everyone healthy involved in the deal to make the deal. We’ll see in a few days if this is true.

Philly didn’t move up in the draft to take Makai Lemon for no reason.

-- HEADLINE: The Athletic’s Daniel Popper said he sees Chargers TE Charlie Kolar as “TE1 because of his complete skill set.”

Yes, I believe this too. Kolar is gonna start and be the main TE like Will Dissly was last season, in there for his blocking, and Gadsden-Njoku will rotate in/out, especially in 2- and 3-TE sets, as the passing game guys.

-- HEADLINE: Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski said QB Tua Tagovailoa has “innate” accuracy as a passer.

Now everyone in Falcons-land is going off the deep end about these comments and the notion that they are gonna get stuck with Tua as their starting QB. I would just remind everybody in ATL and around the globe...these OTAs don’t means $#!&. Every QB looks great in shorts and a t-shirt throwing.

More important on OTAs is to try to see rotations/order at a position to see if there are any early clues as to who the coaches are favoring. QB accuracy at this stage of practice, I could not care less for big picture thoughts.

Will Tua be the Week 1 QB for Stefanski? Hell if I know. Stefanski is the genius who threw Baker Mayfield away and greenlit the single worst trade in football history to acquire Deshaun Watson. He’s capable of wrecking anything. And, no one knows if Penix will even be ready/clear for full action even if he is the preferred QB.

-- HEADLINE: 49ers RB Isaac Guerendo tore his pectoral lifting weights about a month ago and could return “around the end of training camp.”

It seems like Guerendo is about to hit ‘the end of the road’ in SF/the NFL.

-- HEADLINE: Saints head coach Kellen Moore said there is “no timeline” for figuring out RB Alvin Kamara’s status on the roster.

Welp, now the Saints are talking about it more out loud.

A double-edged sword...they’d love to trade him, but no one really wants him--and the Saints would eat most of the contract in a trade anyway, so they might as well keep AK...and hope some RB situation goes awry for some other team in August and they get desperate for an RB.

-- HEADLINE: Bears head coach Ben Johnson said he is “buying Luther Burden stock right now.”

As much as I am not buying Burden, Ben Johnson is...so, I have to take it serious.

FF analysis is part scouting, part trying to figure out what coaches think (and thus will attempt to do). Doesn’t matter what I think if Ben thinks the world of Burden.

And...what has happened to Rome Odunze?

A REWIND study/report of the Bears receivers is on my to do list ASAP.

-- Draft Guide (redraft) 2026 update...

My plan is to start releasing pieces of the draft guide next week, June 1st. The vaunted Undervalued and Overvalued and Deep Sleeper rankings/reports will lead the way with early release and the IDP 2026 projections are near ready to go.

The projections for the offensive players are starting to take shape, as I go through the teams and their schedules one-by-one on a slow burn extended study. But what isn’t close/on pace to ready is the first round of player commentaries. The NFL used to announce the schedule pre-draft, which meant we could get to work on considering/commenting on any tough or easy schedules out of the gates impacts for certain players/teams...but this year, the NFL released the schedule later than ever...a couple weeks after the draft. It makes sense for them but pushes us behind, so we’re working on that and I don’t have a good projection date for that side of the draft guide to be ready/released. I am hoping sometime later June, but once we get to mid-June I will reassess and we might release pieces of the commentaries we do have instead of waiting until all teams first wave of player commentaries are done. We’ve got time to decide that. I won’t rush the team-by-team, slow burn studies...it’s too important.

But note: the first pieces of the Draft Guide puzzle will start releasing next week.

-- New Discord Notification system planned release likely on Saturday, FYI.

I think you’ll want to use it/you’ll like it, so if you want be ready for it, you can sign up for a free Discord account on their App (the preferred way, they say). It’s just username and password, no other real deep data about you do they want.

But there’s no major rush to sign up either. It will be there when you are ready...and really built to be there for when the season gets hot and heavy and rumors and reports are flying on things, you can get the fastest notifications to most all types of devices (mobile and computer).

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- (YAHOO) "I've been dealing with those questions for nine years," Christian McCaffrey said. "I think the workload in our sport is really monitored in practice, not in games. We play 17 regular-season games a year and everybody's livelihoods are on the line. I would say on Sunday you've got to do whatever it takes to win and that's not a coach's job. You don't tell the 3-point shooter you only get six 3s today.

"So much of it is rhythmic and it's my job to put my body in the best position I can to go out there and play and I think everything else can be monitored during the week or with a practice schedule or certain ways you train, whatever it may be. But when it comes to game days, I like to think you prepare yourself for playing every snap."

-- (YAHOO) Matthew Stafford says he understands why the Los Angeles Rams drafted Ty Simpson last month, even though they happen to have got the NFL's reigning MVP quarterback under contract for at least the next two years.

"Listen, I’m not 25 years old, and I get that," Stafford said Thursday after organized team activities at the Rams' training complex. "So we’re doing everything we can to be as good a football team as we can for now, for the future, for all of it."

"Happy to have next year taken care of if I decide to play — and they still want me back," Stafford said with a grin. "Excited to get that behind me, because I just want to come out here and play, and not think about the extra stuff. It’s good to get it done sooner rather than later."

-- (YAHOO) A reflective Puka Nacua wore a smile as he spoke to reporters Thursday at Los Angeles Rams OTAs, one day before his 25th birthday. It was the first time he addressed the media since a woman filed a civil lawsuit against him — citing gender violence, assault and battery, and negligence — and the two-time All-Pro wide receiver entered a holistic care facility to focus on his personal growth.

Nacua discussed how he’s been grateful for the support he’s received from the Rams organization, especially from his teammates.

Something I feel like I've learned is it's OK to ask for support,” Nacua told reporters, as captured by Nitecast Media’s Nick Hamilton.

He added: “… and then to recognize the platform that I have and being a professional football player and trying to use that for the betterment of myself and for those around me and the people that have supported me.”

-- (PFT) The 49ers ended up with not one but two international games in 2026 — one in Australia and one in Mexico. Even though the trip to Melbourne will be much longer than the trip to Mexico City, the Mexico trip will likely keep them away from home even longer than the season-opener down under.

We haven’t finalized it yet, but we’d love to stay here and go there,” Kyle Shanahan said of the travel plans for the Week 11 game against the Vikings in Mexico City. “It’s a shorter flight, but that’s not really the issue. The main thing with Mexico City is it’s 2,000 [feet] higher than Denver. And so, we like to get adjusted to that altitude. So, we’ll probably go to Colorado Springs again like we did last time to get ready for that altitude and then probably go to Mexico City the night before.”

The 49ers play their Week 10 game at Dallas. Shanahan was asked whether the team would go straight to Colorado from Texas.

We haven’t decided that yet, but most likely,” Shanahan said. “We’ll probably end up, the Mexico City trip will probably be a longer one than the Australia one, just because of that.”

-- Pittsburgh’s defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator, Jason Simmons, spoke highly of the young corner (Daylen Everette) on Wednesday, praising his effort and coachability.

When I think about him, I think about humility,” Simmons said. “You know, he’s played in a lot of big games coming from Georgia. Let’s just be honest, that guy has played in SEC Championships, National Championships, and you talk about [being] receptive to coaching? He absolutely is. He is a sponge. He’s a bright guy, and the next thing is his poise as well. And to be a young guy, well, and I go up and down to realize when you say you’re going against a quality receiver, like DK Metcalf, he doesn’t let that take him out of his technique, and I love the confidence.”

 == New Daily Series ==

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE/REPORT: The Brown County District Attorney’s Office “is not yet prepared to make a formal charging” of Josh Jacobs in relation to his domestic abuse arrest.

The update comes directly from the DA’s office. They note that the standard for an arrest in this case is probable cause. The DA’s Office, however, applies a higher standard. The evidence against Jacobs did not meet that standard and he was released from custody, though this does not mean charges can’t be filed at a later date.

I have no idea what really happened with Jacobs and his accuser, but I am keeping an open and skeptical mind. Again, most of these cases are nothing...trumped up claims by a person wanting to either get some revenge or fiscal payoff. Not that ‘nothing happened’, but typically it’s that a heated argument, a relationship break up, a small shove out of the way or push away of someone slapping them gets reported as something 100x worse followed by a claim...which leads to a charge...which usually leads to a quick dismissal...which then leads to the accuser trying a civil suit threatening the player -- all of it done out of spite/revenge and/or a money grab attempt because the football player/celebrity is a walking lottery ticket. So, I assume this situation (that I know nothing about the reality of) will turn out to be nothing as it pertains to Fantasy Football.

The football media, however, is taking this VERY seriously...why no one would ever make serious claims/charges and try to shake down an athlete...it has to be the big, bad football player’s fault, surely he’s guilty! I even saw a report yesterday on a serious football site that was going over the details on the cost to cut Jacobs and how the Packers need to send a message.

If these abject idiots in the media ever did a hint of research instead of all reactions and feelings and posturing, they’d know that someone being accused and taken to jail in these instances is because of laws in certain areas where the accuser is believed and the accused is almost always arrested and then has to prove their innocence. It’s not the police’s fault...they’re following the law on domestic abuse.

It looks like Jacobs was ready to pay a tiny bond to get out and then the DA’s office quickly ascertained that there was nothing worth holding him on. That happens to most cases where exaggerated claims are made.

Again, I have no idea how this winds up or what really happened...but it is looking like it’s nothing as big as the media is pushing/hoping, and you have a short window to make deals on the cheap for JJ...which I am trying to do with clients. I’m only shopping for A DEAL--I’m not paying anywhere near the normal rate...and he was already kinda hated as a player for FF 2026 as it is...oddly hated/dismissed for a guy who has been so good in recent years. Deals can be had...but there is some risk in the unknowns of what happened to him...risk of suspension for 1-2 games or maybe it’s worse than we know, etc.

But from what I see...this looks like every other case of these types--hits the news cycle with a lot of hyperventilation from media reports and the headline looks terrible then a week or so later the case is dropped, and all is forgotten.

---------

Here are more details from the Josh Jacobs event from an X post here, and please notice some of the viewer comments...people are rightfully asking questions, and suspecting things might be being trumped up by the accuser...doing the job the media isn’t in asking questions and being suspicious. But the media lost their credibility years ago. Anyway, here’s more detail and a 911 call. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dispatch-audio-released-regarding-alleged-000612746.html

-- This story got my attention, and then made me do a spit take...

(PFT report) The Jets are expanding their reliance on automation well beyond Madden ratings. Via Rob Schaefer of Sports Business Journal, the Jets have fully embraced AI.

(Story/report) The effort has crystallized under Iwao Fusillo, the team’s new chief data and analytics officer. That title put him in charge of business and football analytics.

Fusillo told Schaefer that 91 percent of the team’s front office now uses Microsoft Copilot on a day-to-day basis. Roughly a hundred days ago, only “a handful” of the team’s employees used it. Those utilizing it are averaging two or three prompts per day.

“I call that level one, or horizon one, which is adoption,” Fusillo said. “Do we have large business gains from that level one? Not really. But have we changed the culture of the entire front office? Yes. To think AI-first.”

Microsoft Copilot is considered like the McDonald’s of AI options if you compare them all as like restaurants. Many AI options are sit-down-restaurant-good. Some are nice fast food place good, like a Chik-Fil-A. People in the AI world mostly laugh at Copilot.

Leave it to the Jets...

Copilot is useful, and better than nothing, but it’s not like the Jets are some advanced species from another galaxy using it...it’s more of a thing many people in the ‘AI know’ would laugh at. But this report makes it seem like the Jets are using Claude to now be their offensive coordinator.

If you don’t know why that last statement was humorous...then you’re like the writer of the report--you know little to nothing about AI and LLMs, which is no crime for you...but it makes the report that was meant to be a ‘wow’ that’s actually a giant laugh and is ‘typical J-E-T-S’.

-- NEW CHANGE/NEW LAUNCH ANNOUNCEMENT WEEK...continues with a new notification system for FFM announcement.

The old notification system from our App will still work, but I wanted to come up with a much better, far more stable and universally easily accessible (and FREE) notification system...notifying when reports post and on major breaking news items, especially key in season.

I have been testing a notification system using the major, national platform DISCORD...and it is set to launch FRIDAY/SATURDAY.

What’s neat about using Discord for notifications is...

If you choose to do so, you can/will get notified of a report post or news item in two ways. (1) The typical pop-up banner on your phone, and (2) a pop-up notification on your computer screen as well. You can shut either or both off as well, but now we have more firepower happening for notifications.

The old notifications through the App would (and will) go down 2-3x per year for 3-10 days because Apple is too stringent to work with/trying to extract money at every turn to use their system, and shuts us down wherever they want to put us on a spot to comply with them/our overlords. And Android? Forget about it to work with on an App. Now all smartphone, tablet, or computer users will get all the notifications they desire via free use Discord.

AND the notifications will include a link to the report we’re posting, so you can touch the notification then touch the link and the report pops up...or click it on your PC/MAC, etc.

You have to have a Discord account (FREE), which is just the typical username and password, no other deep info being requested. Then you can follow/join our special notification spot from a special invite that we will post at launch and be open forever (FREE).

Sign up for a free account or revive your old Discord account to be ready ahead, if you want. Signing up on the App is always their preferred way but keep that Discord user/pw handy to also access Discord on your computer and keep the page open when you want for notifications that way via a little pop-up and/or one beep sound to let you know.

More details on sign up when we do the official launch Friday (target) or Saturday (worse case).

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- An article on how Keeanu Benton and Yaya Black could be used differently with the new regime...  https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/steelers-dl-coach-hints-changes-010413205.html

-- De’Von Achane had this to say about expectations following the team’s financial commitment to him.

It comes with the territory. I think I’m ready for the job. And like I said, I’m going to be here if my team needs me in any way. I knew when the contract got done, I was going to have to take on a bigger role.”

-- (YAHOO)  Last year I would go out there, and I’m saying, ‘I somewhat know what I need to do, but I’m not 100 percent sure,’” Shermar Stewart said this week, via Jay Morrison of SI.com. “And then I go out there and I overthink. Then I don’t make a play. Then it’s just a whole lot of things because I’m just too up in here.”

Stewart has formed a close relationship with defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery, which he thinks will help in his development.

I think I got my first ‘good job,’ from Jerry,” Stewart said. “That’s my guy. He never gave up on me. Always held me close even though when I wasn’t performing good, he always stood by me.”

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- Thank you to everyone who responded to my ‘call to arms’ message yesterday. I stayed up as late as I could to respond to all that I could. If I missed you last night, you’ll hear from me early today.

There’s still plenty of space for anyone else interested.

-- NEW ITEM announcement: The week of ‘change’ announcements for me/FFM continues. Here’s a new offering that I am very stoked about...

A good chunk of my Tuesday was tied up shooting the first 3 pilot episodes of a new podcast with Ross Jacobs. It’s a podcast where tackle/debate FF topics of interest from a “scout’s” perspective.

I wanted a better way to capture all the great conversations and debates that Ross and I usually have on a chat during the week. I also think the scouting debates/studies can come across better when you can see/hear/feel the emotion or lack thereof.

It took 2x longer to do because of ‘first time’ issues. I messed up the first video that was the intro to the new channel/podcast, but then we successfully shot two real ‘shows’.

I’ll give you more details when we officially launch it, but the first two shows are:

Is Jeremiah Smith Radically Overvalued? (slated for 15-20 min, but probably went 30-45 min.)

Just How Good is Brendan Sorsby? (went about 20 or so minutes)

We don’t just talk about the player; we also try to debate and set a Dynasty/Fantasy valuation on the players as well in a fun/unique/challenging way. I’m really happy with the two pilots. And I just love the overall concept, which I’ll explain more on later as we get ready to launch. It’s gonna be a couple days before everything is set.

Figure next week we will probably debut.

-- HEADLINE: Packers RB Josh Jacobs was arrested in Wisconsin on domestic abuse charges.

I’m gonna wait to FF-react to this. Most of these situations are someone trying to take advantage of/shakedown a rich NFL player...or is a ‘lady friend’ out for revenge, and it’s baseless. That’s the sports player’s new reality of life. In this case, it looks like a ‘lady friend’ issue.

Jacobs has already denied it.

The last few of these type of ‘things’ ended months later with charges being dropped. I think Puka and Rashee were two of the latest to get hit with a ‘lady friend’ issue...and I think both cases got dropped because of no real evidence (going from memory).

If anything, I’d be a Jacobs buyer on a super cheap mode if his owner panics.

Just because Jacobs was charged and jailed, doesn’t mean anything really happened. The laws in some states assume the woman is telling the truth justvia making a claim--that’s why these football players need to be on their toes to stay out of compromising situations. They are targets for shakedowns.

I’m not defending these guys because ‘football’. I just can see the stats on these cases/resolutions...most cases are BS shake downs. So, without any more facts...my guess is this is another shakedown. We’ll see. If there was some actual criminal physicality, a payout likely ends it, and the player is cleared of wrongdoing because they case ends/gets dropped by the other party.

Instead of trying to remember recent cases, I ran a report out of GEMINI for 2026. Here's the year's cases...

Active & Pending Criminal Cases (2026 Arrests)

Josh Jacobs (Green Bay Packers)

Incident/Arrest Date: Arrested on May 26, 2026 (following a Saturday, May 23 disturbance complaint).

The Charges: One felony count of Strangulation and Suffocation, alongside four misdemeanor counts: Battery–Domestic Abuse, Criminal Damage to Property–Domestic Abuse, Disorderly Conduct–Domestic Abuse, and Intimidation of a Victim.

How it Stands Legally: The case is completely active and in its earliest stages. Jacobs turned himself in to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin and was booked into the Brown County Jail, later released on a $1,350 bond.

Defense & Details: His defense attorneys (David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac) issued a joint statement stating that Jacobs "vehemently denies" the allegations, noting that important evidence has not yet been made public. Because the arrest just occurred, no charges have been dropped or dismissed, and the judicial process is just starting.

James Pearce Jr. (Atlanta Falcons)

Incident/Arrest Date: Arrested on February 7, 2026; formal charges brought by the Miami-Dade State Attorney on March 12, 2026.

The Charges: Faced three heavy felonies: Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Fleeing and Eluding Police, and Resisting an Officer with Violence, plus a misdemeanor count of Stalking.

How it Stands Legally: The criminal case is active and pending trial in Florida. A temporary protective order was granted on February 9, forcing Pearce to stay at least 500 feet away from the victim's home and workplace.

Dismissal/Reduction Details: The state attorney did alter the original police arrest sheet. An initial arrest charge of felony aggravated stalking was reduced to a misdemeanor count of stalking, and a charge of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer was dropped completely before formal filing.

Case Details: The allegations stem from a severe traffic incident where Pearce allegedly used his vehicle to repeatedly ram the car of his ex-girlfriend (WNBA player Rickea Jackson) as she attempted to flee to a police station. Pearce's legal team has stated he maintains his total innocence, urging the public to wait for the complete story.

Quintayvious Hutchins (New England Patriots)

Incident/Arrest Date: May 2026 (shortly after signing with the team following the NFL Draft).

The Charges: Domestic Violence / Assault charges stemming from a loud physical dispute at a residence where property was damaged.

How it Stands Legally: The case is active and unresolved. Hutchins appeared in court, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was released on personal recognizance. He is officially due back in court for his next hearing on June 29, 2026.

.

Civil Lawsuits & Resolved Non-Criminal Actions

Rashee Rice (Kansas City Chiefs)

Lawsuit Filing Date: February 16, 2026.

The Allegations: A civil lawsuit seeking more than $1 million was filed in Dallas County by his former girlfriend and mother of his children. The suit alleges a multi-year pattern of physical abuse from December 2023 through July 2025, specifically citing incidents of choking, headbutting, and throwing objects, notably occurring while she was pregnant.

How it Stands Legally: While the civil lawsuit remains an open financial dispute in the Dallas court system, no criminal charges have been filed by Texas authorities regarding these specific claims.

NFL Personal Conduct Update: In April 2026, the NFL officially concluded its separate internal investigation into these specific domestic allegations and cleared Rice of personal conduct policy penalties for the upcoming 2026 season, allowing him to participate fully in team activities.

Tyreek Hill (Free Agent / Formerly Miami Dolphins)

Trial/Settlement Date: May 8, 2026.

The Allegations: A civil lawsuit brought by social media influencer Sophie Hall claiming assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. She alleged Hill became enraged and forcefully charged her during a backyard football drill at his Florida estate in 2023, fracturing her leg so severely it required surgical hardware.

How it Ended Legally: The civil case was abruptly resolved via a private settlement agreement on the second day of the jury trial in Broward County Court.

Why it ended/got dismissed: To stop the trial and avoid a potential jury verdict, both sides reached a mutual financial compromise for an undisclosed amount. As a direct result of the settlement, Hall voluntarily agreed to dismiss her civil counts of assault and battery with prejudice, and Judge David Haimes dismissed the jury. Hill’s defense consistently maintained the injury was a pure accident and that she assumed physical risk by participating in the drills.

The legal situation involving Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is fundamentally different from the criminal arrests seen elsewhere in 2026. His legal defense team has explicitly clarified that his case does not involve allegations of domestic violence, nor is it a criminal matter. Instead, it is an active civil lawsuit concerning an altercation on New Year's Eve.

The specific breakdown of where his case stands in the 2026 calendar year includes the following details:

The Allegations & Lawsuit

Filing Date: Late March 2026.

The Claims: A civil lawsuit was filed in a Los Angeles court by a plaintiff named Madison Atiabi. The suit cites assault and battery, gender violence, and negligence.

The Specifics: The plaintiff alleges that during a group dinner on New Year's Eve in Century City, Nacua made an unprovoked, audible antisemitic exclamation that caused her emotional distress. Furthermore, the suit claims that later that night while sharing a van, Nacua forcibly bit her on the left shoulder, leaving a visible circular teeth mark. It is also claimed he bit a friend's thumb.

The Defense & Legal Response

The Denial: Nacua's attorney, Levi G. McCathern II, denied the allegations "in the strongest possible terms," stating they have video evidence showing behavior inconsistent with the claims.

Clarification on Case Nature: His attorney publicly emphasized the boundaries of the civil filing, stating: "This matter is not sexual in nature, nor does it involve any allegation of domestic violence... It also doesn't involve any elements of antisemitism." The defense team characterized the physical contact as non-malicious "horseplay" and announced intentions to pursue a defamation countersuit.

How It Stands Legally (Current Status)

Restraining Order Request: The plaintiff initially filed for a temporary restraining order against Nacua, but a Los Angeles judge denied the request. A follow-up hearing was scheduled for April 14, 2026.

Rehab Stint: In April 2026, his attorney confirmed that Nacua had checked into a rehabilitation facility prior to the lawsuit going public. The defense noted this was an effort "to improve his overall behavior in every aspect of his life" rather than a direct reaction to the filing, with expectations to complete the program in time for Rams organized team activities (OTAs).

Active Status: The civil litigation remains active, pending, and unresolved in the California court system. No criminal charges have been filed by law enforcement.

-- I’m not bought into the ‘next gen stats’ yet, as a great tool...but I thought this list was interesting. https://x.com/4WhomJBellTolls/status/2059119350519349489

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- Josh Jacobs, through his attorneys, denied the allegations.

"Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course," attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac said in a statement.

-- Less than five and a half months after suffering a torn ACL, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was back on the practice field.

The Chiefs posted video of Mahomes taking part in the team’s OTA session on Tuesday. He was wearing a large brace on his left leg.

-- Coach Mike Macdonald has come up with a different bit of messaging.

"We're using the term, we want to run it forward -- 'it' meaning our process and who we are," Macdonald said Tuesday. "I think this is going to be ... something that we're going to talk about consistently. I don't think it's a one-and-done type of conversation. Really, it's just how we talk about how we operate all the time. It's something that we're having conversations with our team and our units every day about who we want to be and how we want to do things, and this situation is no different."

Macdonald often preaches the importance of focusing on process over results. Those words have made their way onto one of the team-issued T-shirts that players and coaches wear around Seahawks headquarters.

"Run it Forward" could be next.

"I think when you look at some of these high-performing teams that have been able to do it over a long period of time, I think the common thread that you find is a standard that you feel responsible to uphold on a daily basis, and part of that standard here is chasing edges, is a spirit of evolution and a spirit of moving forward all the time," Macdonald said. "So that's where our minds are. But giving us the freedom to move forward and have the space to kind of make each new phase of the year our own and unique to us. There's a balance there [of thinking about picking up where they left off versus starting from scratch].

"But again, I've just been really pleased with every day's work and haven't sensed an ounce of complacency, and that's been really positive."

-- (PFT) With Jesse Minter now the Ravens' head coach, Derwin James will anchor first-year defensive coordinator Chris O'Leary's defense as the Chargers look to maintain one of the league's stingiest units.

"One of my favorite players I've ever worked with and coached because of how contagious his energy is, how great he wants to be," said O'Leary, who was the Chargers defensive backs coach in 2024. "So, I can't put into words how excited that I am. I'm ready to get started right now."

-- (PFT) Wide receiver Tory Horton, a fifth-round pick in 2025, made 13 catches for 161 yards and five touchdowns and also contributed a 95-yard punt return touchdown. But Horton had a shin injury in Week 9 that ended his season.

Horton underwent surgery, and his timetable for a return has been uncertain.

There’s a chance that he could do some stuff toward the end of the spring,” coach Mike Macdonald said Tuesday, via Connor Benintendi of SI.com. “We’ll see.”

That’s great news for Horton’s chances of being ready for Week 1.

Tory has made a lot of great strides,” Macdonald said. “We got some feedback that can really accelerate his recovery, which is great. He deserves some good news: He’s been working really, really hard. It’s one of those things, you don’t have a timetable until you do. It shows you’ve just got to keep grinding away at it.”

 == New Daily Series ==

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- HEADLINE: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs “have no plans” to give Rashee Rice an extension before the start of this season.

How could they in good conscious? And he has little ground to stand on to get an extension...except he gets away with everything, and KC allows it, so why should Rice stop thinking everything should go his way.

Think of the upper hand KC has here... Everyone knows Rashee is living off Mahomes. Once you remove Rashee from KC/Mahomes, he’s ‘done’. If KC lets Rice go to free agency...there will be almost no market at all given he’s a Mahomes creation AND all his baggage.

The only market Rashee has is ‘whatever KC is willing to pay him’.

The possible other market is...’there’s always a Cleveland or some other idiotically run team out there’. But I don’t think even the dumbest team would go for this...there’s no reason to. He’s not that good. But I know that never stops the Browns from plowing money into OBJ, Jarvis Landry, and Jerry Jeudy among others.

-- HEADLINE: Eagles DC Vic Fangio said he plans to coach for at least two more years.

This is big/good news for Philly DST, if true.

But could also be something you say to get the media to stop asking you about almost leaving/retiring a few months ago every other day.

Fangio only said ‘he plans’... There could be a coaching change or whatever that could change Fangio’s mind. It’s the smart thing to say but not a definite thing to bet on.

 -- HELP NEEDED/OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS!

So, I mentioned last week that one of the things I needed to do was to reach out for some help with the FFM workload.

Why?

Well, I simply cannot do all the things I’d like to do for work in a calendar year.

I track my time to schedule it all on elaborate Excel spreadsheets, so that I can try to stay organized and not overschedule. When football season is back, especially, I am legit working 80-100+ hours a week...not at the office and doing other things...it’s tied up watching games, rewatching games, writing reports, answering everyone’s email (which is an open door I don’t want to close), reading injury reports, talking/texting sources, and constructing and maintaining all the rankings/valuation/weekly projection reports.

Which, I have worked that extreme pace for a decade+. I trained myself to sleep less. I took up a coffee addiction. I cut out other hobbies/interests. And it wasn’t terrible...I love my job and love interacting with all our group, many of whom have been subscribers for 10-15+ years without a gap, so I don’t want to let anyone down...and there’s so much information and NFL events to deal with. I wish I could clone myself.

But I am but one man trying to ‘know’ everything...which I think is important to try to ‘know’ everything. How else can you thrive in Fantasy or betting?

I could probably handle another 80-100+ hour work week season (2026) with a side order of ‘no life otherwise’, as usual, but then I got the prostate cancer news last football season and that has certainly thrown a wrench into things. I am taking a ton of meds/therapies to combat/to fight. I still get randomly sick and I get extremely tired out of nowhere, which are all normal side effects for what I am going through...but what is not normal, what is not good is -- I am too busy for cancer. Instead of taking the time I need to heal/rest (sleep is a great healer), I am getting back to not only guzzling coffee to stay awake to work but I am also pounding energy drinks when I get really tired to try and drag another hour of work out of me before I take a nap...which is a disrupted/disjointed nap by the energy drink buzz I then have.

I can work a lot in a day if left to my own devices, even with being sick & tired from meds, but then I also have to do doctor visits, follow-ups, blood tests across town. If I work 12-14 hours a day...legit...then every 30 minutes in a day is critical. So, a blood test 30+ minutes away is 60+ minutes travel, and then 30 minutes in a waiting room or getting 12 vials of blood drawn...a simple blood test is 90+ minutes in a day I can’t afford at my usual pace...and that’s just one example of a time stealer.

I should sleep (to heal/repair) an extra hour or two a day from what I am doing, but I am artificially keeping myself awake. It’s not smart.

I’m also falling apart physically in this battle. I have legit aged 10 years (it feels like) in the past 6 months of scans, tests, radiation, and hardcore meds. I am losing muscle, my bones are losing density, I am adding fat/pounds due to the medications and lethargy hit I am taking. I absolutely am gonna hurt my battle with cancer through inactivity and bad eating, and if I do beat this cancer thing in 1-2 years...I’ll be even more overweight and may have other medical issues to deal with if I don’t take care of myself. So, I HAVE TO start working out, upping my steps, doing light weight training so that I don’t beat cancer just to then have diabetes (which is an elevated risk of all the treatments, for all the reasons I cited), heart issues, and/or a big-time loss of muscle/strength (which is happening in ways I can absolutely feel without even knowing test results).

I simply have to start taking care of my body during all this fight or I am going to have a new fight after the cancer fight...or I’m going to invite the cancer to grow in other areas, feeding off my blood sugar being bad.

I have to make some changes.

I don’t have to quit working long hours. I just need to work smarter. I need to focus on my most critical items and start to get assistance gathering research or finding things I am missing or turn things over to folks who show to be budding ‘stars’ at it.

So, with all that said, I want to start by asking the FFM group if anyone would be interested in helping the cause.

Driving to Texas on my long road trip a week+ ago, I thought about all these things and pondered on what areas of help I might need...I then started thinking about/wondering if it would also be an opportunity for someone/s, anyone/s as well. I don’t know exactly how this would all turn out to be for any individual assisting or if there is a hidden star that will accidentally be discovered...but I’m going to start out by simply asking for help, offering the opportunity, and not overselling it to twist anyone’s arm. I don’t know how this will go or if anyone is even interested or available, but all I know is -- I need the assistance of other talents if at all possible.

What do I need help with? Where is the opportunity? I have some football ‘scouting’ and/or ‘analysis’ type things that I’d love to have some help/find some collaborators on. And I don’t know if any of the following scenarios might appeal to anyone in that arena, but I’m gonna ask and see.

I’m looking for anyone interested in helping the FFM cause by doing work in research or numbers crunching or writing or scouting or any combination or all of them per person. It’s strictly a volunteer thing to start. But for someone, the work could be quite ‘fun’ and ‘interesting’; for others, it might be the start of trying to be in the Fantasy or football industry. Who knows? FFM has launched a few people’s careers outside of FFM...so this could be a resume starter. You don’t know if you’d like it...love it...or hate it until you try.

And this is a call to anyone. I know most everyone who reads this has a full-time job; that’s the story of most everyone in football analysis. But if you are bored in your job or have gaps of time with your job and this type of stuff would help pass the time in a fun way, or you’d have interest in a thing to do after work--something here might appeal. If you’re already super-engaged in all this football stuff anyway...that’s perfect if you’d like to be part of the analysis department! If you love your job/career and are always slammed with it or you have a super active family/kids or dating life...it likely doesn’t fit. But for those with the time and the interest/passion...maybe it would be of interest.

I have some areas of football that I’d like to try to see who might be interested in tinkering with and then taking it as far as you’d like.

For each area that I will mention, there are some different ways to be a part of the FFM machine...

I can boil the situations down to three labels within each football area/situation: Specialist and/or Data Cruncher and/or Writer. Let me explain what I mean by each of those labels...

Specialist: You’re a part of our scouting department. You would be constantly on the lookout for reports/articles/podcasts/social media/live games whatever for INFORMATION in your area of the game. Not just any information...key/clever/buried/hidden information most may have missed or didn’t understand, etc. https://youtu.be/2WDBI4nLtXQ?si=D9knRhvzXDjF06ai

In a specific football area, I’m looking for people with a possible (just interested to see how you like it) passion in that specific area or burning passion in that area -- and thus you are on the constant prowl for info to help me make FFM’s projections, assumptions, reports better with great information I likely missed and didn’t consider properly/smartly.

Data Cruncher: You’re a part of our scouting department. You love numbers. You love spreadsheets and even better you’re getting into AI and starting to run things out of AI and then a dream come true is if you’re messing with Claude to do things.

You like looking through statistics for hidden things...and you can give me a heads-up on gems you’ve found so we can discuss them and see if it’s a game changer or projections changer or needs more study.

I will assign you statistical witch hunts, puzzles, murder mysteries to tinker with as you have time to pan for gold...or just find ‘dirt’.

Writer: Whatever area you’d be interested in being assigned to write things on, or try to write/ tryto see if you like it or hate it...you’d be a Specialist and/or Data Cruncher but also have the freedom to write on any of the topics (with my direction) you’re working on to see if you like the process of writing/reporting...or you can hate it and just stick to Specialist and/or Data Cruncher.

NFL Team Specialist: If you follow a team closely, super closely and would like to be a reporter, of sorts, on that team...with the grand hopes of if you watch every game that you could do the game reports all season involving that team. I will coach you through what flow and what info we’re looking for...and maybe you’ve never been a writer or don’t think you are one, well...you don’t know until you try. I had no formal training or chops in writing when I started...I was forced to write stuff to support the data I was working on and look at me now! All Cs in high school and college in English...and lucky to get that.

But if you just want to be a specialist pointing out things developing with the team that the world or me are missing...that’s great too.

‘OPEN MIC’ WRITER TEST: Wanna try to write something in private? Send it to me only, and I’ll Simon Cowell it for you so you can see if you like the process or hate it or suck at it or are gifted at it. I will tell you to help you one way or the other. I can guide and teach. I can assign topics to investigate...or you follow your heart/interest.

The initial areas I am looking for help in...

-- IDP...Specialist and/or Data Cruncher and/or Writer. Keeping up with the defensive side of Fantasy, which is growing and is good for those who play in leagues where you run with 5-11 IDPs starting per week.

-- The NFL Team Specialist thing I mentioned earlier.

-- And for someone wanting to start at the ground floor to deal with a very niche area...there’s PK/Kicker Specialist and/or Data Cruncher. An area people don’t think of as a skill, but I think it’s a super untapped thing. And it’s so small a niche not many people try to tackle it, but it’s a great starting point to see how you like scouting/gathering info, analyzing data and outcomes, etc.

-- General Researcher/Data Cruncher...could be on anything from any area of football...whatever your interest is...I can throw you a thing, and you can do the research on it.

Those are the baseline needs to get started for people new to it all.

Beyond that, people can work their way in the future to starting to scout prospects of all kinds and working on an injury specialty among other things if you have ‘the gift’ and ‘the time’...but we usually start with the ground level stuff to see if you like it before jumping to next level work. We have a ton that can be thrown at you, but we should start with some basics and go from there. It’s a marathon not a sprint...and you don’t have to ‘boil the ocean’, you can start with heating a small cup of water and learning/growing from there. Helping me boil the ocean is paramount!

The ideal candidates for this? You love the football stuff...you consume it with a passion...you play in serious FF leagues, so you’re doing a lot of research of your own as it is. You have a decent amount of time or pockets of time in your life’s schedule...and if you have a phone, you have a research tool for/at any occasion. I have read media reports, listened to press conferences, and wrote many a scouting report in between innings at my sons’ baseball and during soccer games in their grade and high school. You can be a football analyst anywhere with a phone and/or tablet.

The other key attribute for being a part of this: You wanna give it a whirl to see what happens. You’d like to give it a try. I almost lived my entire life not thinking a thing about football writing or scouting or data analysis. I was on track to never discovering I had some gifts for this. I’m only here by the grace of God and because I took a shot at it with my free time despite everyone telling me I was crazy.

The ball is in your court.

When you can, email me your area of interest and/or what area you think you might want to try/be good at...and why. No novel needed...just give me a couple sentences so I can then reply back to you for follow up to narrow things down.

‘Willing to try’ or ‘eager to try’ are the best attributes. We will be with you to help as needed.

== QUOTES & QUOTABLES (pulled from an internet A.I. search, I try to make sure it’s accurate but some of it is ‘trust in AI’) ==

-- (PFT) Quarterback Cam Ward firmly believes that will happen.

He’ll (Carnell Tate) have an explosive year just because he’ll get a lot of one-on-one matchups,” Ward said last week, in an article posted Monday morning by Turron Davenport of ESPN. “That’s what we want. We want guys to come down and play man [coverage] because we think we can beat him. He’s got great hands, wins in man coverage, and he’s a strider,” Ward said.

In the NFL, you have to know how to win against press coverage,” Carnell Tate said. “That’s all it’s about. You have to take that very personal. . . . The team is going to rely on you to go out there and win that one-on-one matchup with the top corner on the other side of you.”

The Titans envision him to be the X receiver in the offense, which will put him on the ball and force him to get past the man who is trying to keep him from getting into his route.

I think this is one of the best offenses he could be in just because he’s going to get coached, but he’s not going to get overcoached, and he’s going to still be able to play football how he sees it,” Ward said.

-- (YAHOO) "Sunday is the day of football," Jason Kelce said. "Outside of going to church in the morning, if you're still religious and do that, Sunday is where so many games happen and and that's what you grow up and you gear your entire week around watching football on Sunday.

"It's an institution at this point, the NFL playing games on Sunday. With every day that we keep adding in there, we're getting away from that just a little bit. And I worry that I think the game got big. One of the reasons it got so popular and big was because all of the games, it was an event. Sunday is the NFL and everybody set their week apart to tune in to their games that were happening on Sunday and you're watching kind of all of them."

-- (PFT) “I think his shoulders are fine,” Fangio said last week in response to a question about Jalen Carter’s health. “He’s had a good offseason of lifting. I think he started that earlier than normal for him and you can see the difference in that regard. I think he’s in a better spot now than he was.”

-- (PFT)  I’m going to be completely honest with you,” Fernando Mendoza told Gilbert Manzano of SI.com (via Chris Franklin of NJ.com). “I’d rather be practicing right now and I was really upset about actually having to miss practice for this. Although it’s great. . . . It’s still been a great moment to where it was mandatory I be here. I’m not going to feel sorry for myself and feel wishy-washy.

And so Mendoza did what he always seems to do — he fully embraced the situation he was in.

I’m going to have a smile on my face and make the most of that present moment,” Mendoza said. “Live and learn all the [NFLPA] benefits, make all the connections with different mentors here, let me make sure I can maximize my time to be able to create a positive impact and learn about my situation and surroundings. So those are all things that I really benefited from being here.”

-- (YAHOO) “Myles Murphy’s Year 3 jump in production wasn’t enough to convince the Bengals to pick up his fifth-year option, making for a natural prove-it season in a contract year,” Shook wrote in his piece on make-or-break players for 2026. “As it stands now, his future probably isn’t in Cincinnati, unless his rate of compensation fits nicely into the Bengals’ bigger financial picture. But he will sign a second contract somewhere, and now is the time to earn that money.“

 == New Daily Series ==

 == NEWS & NOTES & Xs ==

-- There’s like no football news of note right now, besides Dart-Trump-Carter...which is kinda news because there is nothing else, which I’ll get to commenting on that ASAP because I think it FF-matters. So, with nothing else in football to really comment on...let me roll out my one of my new initiatives/projects...and it’s not even about football, but it has some overlap, but it is on FFM.

Everyday this week, I plan to launch something I plan to change/do/eliminate/ask for assistance on. Today, an easy one...

My new project/concept is for the FFM Betting subscribers, but you don’t have to be into football betting at all to be a member of that/enjoy it.

...and just to reiterate, the FFM ‘Betting’ subscription initiative was intended to do two things:

1) Be a place where I could show my bets on games, teams, player props, the draft, etc., if anyone was interested/wanted to consider. And others could share their betting info or questions to me or the group, etc. What you bet and how you bet isn’t my goal or concern...it’s just sharing information.

*NOTE: And I plan to have my new 2026 betting ledgers up this week...I started making season bets now that the schedule finally got announced and able to begin to study the schedules.

2) As/more important...I wanted ‘Betting’ to also be an exclusive club/hangout where not only the gamblers could hang, but also a place where serious FF players/non-gamblers could hang and be among like-minded individuals to chat/pose FF questions or post breaking news, etc. And really it’s just for football talk/chat and mostly FF...but also betting discussions also take place especially more when the games are going.

And our club’s hangout spot is on Discord (FREE), because it’s one of the most universally accepted places for such a thing/chat room. And one of the best Apps or Websites there is for such a thing, tech wise.

If you subscribe to ‘Betting’, I will then send you a private invite to the Discord club...where many topics are discussed, not just betting. More FF is discussed than anything, especially right now with DRDs happening.

But now I am adding a new area to our Discord club that I’ve wanted to do for a while, something that I am also passionate about: I am adding an area for those FFMers/Betting subscribers to freely discuss the stock market/investing.

Why?

Why have a section of a football site for Stock Market talk? ‘

Folks, we are at a special time...a once in a lifetime, once in a decade or two or three time where the American and world-wide economy is going to change more than during the Dot Com era. And we’re about a 20-30% into this revolution. There’s still a-ways to go, and IN MY OPINION those who are invested in the AI/Tech revolution are gonna have a chance to make WAY more money in that area than in football betting or in FF title winning. Lives and generations will be changed with this.

I have been investing on my own for like 25 years now...I got started before 9/11(2001) with a windfall $2,000 we received from a relative, which almost made me quit investing right away when I saw my first stocks invested in that next day the markets were allowed to be opened. I’m self-taught. A lot of the principles and mathematics I used to build FFM...it started doing similar things with the Stock Market. Fantasy Football players are like stocks, and stocks are like FF players. There are so many parallels between FF and the Stock Market, its crazy how much so.

I’ve tinkered with day trading, shorter-term trading, and long-term trading. I’ve lost big and gained big, in pockets of time, moving with the events and wars and recessions and bubbles, etc. I’ve learned to trade by trial and error/bumps and bruises.  And in all my time, I’ve never seen anything like this current time period/the past 1-2-3 years...and the forecast/opportunity ahead for years to come...and it will not ever be in a straight line up, but a twist road journey to the destination...like a FF season.

When I left Corporate America, I had a 15-year-old 401K account to deal with. I had to move the account somewhere or the fees leaving it with my old company’s options would quietly hit me (many don’t realize that). So, I rolled it into my own 401K and IRA...accounts under my total control to buy and sell--and trading is mostly free in this era, and to set up your own account is free (they actually pay you for the move in many places depending upon how much you move is how much the bonus is). Now, I manage my money, not some corporate wuss using an investing playbook from 10+ years ago and robbing me blind in hidden fees you never see easily/at all.

I’m not saying I have some golden information or advanced techniques that we can all wildly gamble our way to billionaire status by years’ end. No. I’m a standard buy and hold/sell guy. Meat and potatoes. And there’s far better people than myself to listen to about the companies and the pros and cons of companies or industries, I think. And I’d like to share those people’s YouTube streams with you to try to get you (and me) to help become better investors and take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime event...and get to a better/earlier retirement and better growth than buying some corporate-run IRA with their generic fund options and praying they do something good but having little/no idea what they are doing. I just want a place for people of all stages of investing to share and talk about things that we saw/heard/read that day or week and help other’s out with their thoughts and questions. We can have each other’s backs. And like FF...we can cry some days and celebrate together other days.

If you think you’d like to join such a group/club chat, become a ‘Betting’ Subscriber on FFM...and then I’ll email you to get you into the Discord, and if you’ve not ever been on or heard of Discord, we can help you with that too. It couldn’t be any easier.

I love the Stock Market...it has taught me a ton on how to deal with buying/selling/valuating in Fantasy and dealing with the psychology of it...and dealing with all that in all the other areas of my life.

I hope there are a few other like-minded souls out there that would enjoy this. I am trying to get us all ahead in life and FF...or investing.

The stock market is closed Monday/today, but I will be adding the spot to hang out at to our Discord today, and I am going to post a perfect recent video as the very first post that sums up the investing opportunity at hand.

I am not selling any stock services or instruments or advice or anything related. I am simply a passionate investor trying to get to a great retirement someday...and we are in a once in a lifetime moment, I think. I want to learn and discuss with others. I hope (and think) there are others out there of the same passion/experience, or people who would like to try to get into it...this will be for newbies and veterans, because I want to try and help as many people get over, maximize their money...in Fantasy and/or in the market. I want to help myself too! In the end, the greatest way I think I could ever help you...or my friends and family, is to encourage them to explore getting into this market individually and/or learn how to and talk about it...for it not to be a mystery. It's easier than newbies would think...they want you to think it's too complex. It's a club sharing ideas and emotions and helping who asks...and it's NOT any paid-for professional financial advice and there is nothing in it for me but to try to give back to the community.

See you there a little time after I post this...then I’ll launch the spot and post the inaugural video you should listen to/watch to get an idea of what is happening RIGHT NOW and what is to come, from a thought-leader/investor's opinion...a guy I think is one of the best voices in the game but hardly anyone knows him and you won't find him on regular TV.

-- (PFT) Via Mike Reiss of ESPN, Kyle Williams has focused on improving his lower-body strength during the offseason. He has gained five to eight pounds.

Per Reiss, Williams says he’s in the range of 190 to 193 pounds.

Williams hopes to do more work in the middle of the field. He’s also intent on building chemistry with quarterback Drake Maye and mastering the team’s playbook.
