RC's daily streaming notes on football, and other, things going on this week...
Just an open page for me to drop notes/ideas/things I'm hearing/seeing/working on or just caffeinated or lack of sleep thoughts on football items.
6/22 SUN
(7:07amET)
-- This upcoming week, Ross Jacobs and I are starting the Devy scouting process for our annual all-July daily series on college (and high school) prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft/s.
We’re still finalizing the list of 62 (2-a-day for 31 days), but we have the obvious ones we can start out scouting/writing up now.
July 1st will be the 2025 series debut. Something tells me Arch Manning is probably in group 1/day one...
We’re gonna look at those WRs for 2027 everyone is talking about too. All the obvious and some not so obvious. It all begins 7/1/25.
-- Saints WR notes...
Quick notes:
1) Chris Olave is practicing normally...as expected but given the concussion issues it’s good to note that there are no restrictions right now.
2) Coming off his 2024 injury, Rashid Shaheed is practicing/working in the 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s.
Extended notes:
The Saints WR catching some buzz...2nd-year WR Bub Means.
The rookie (2024) has some decent moments in the 2nd-half of the season last year...when all the WRs got hurt and he had to step up...but, also -- Carr was gone, so it was an odd set of circumstances propelling him and giving him opportunity and play with bad QBs, unfortunately.
Means’ debut game (as a real player/starter), Week 6 v. TB...he went (5-45-1/8) in that debut. He was OK (3-37-0/5) the following game...then got hurt the next week and was done for the season.
I was a fan of Means from my pre-Draft scouting 2024. A ‘7’ +/- scouting grade with some upside. He looked good with his opportunity last season, and he is standing out in OTAs some this year.
It’s gonna be Olave-Cooks-Shaheed as starters but Means as the #4...a #4 waiting for Cooks to fade off or Olave gets any more concussion issues.
-- Here’s a shocker, be sure to read what Diontae says is happening...
Time to change the projections...?
Should I believe Diontae?
My sources have told me it’s gonna be/is Joe Flacco all along. Could be that the team is just getting Pickett a ton of work because it’s OTAs, to see what he’s got. I’ll be looking more into this, this week.
-- Just a quick note on the Denver WR group, from a source...
The Denver WR hierarchy appears to be:
1: Courtland Sutton, obviously
2: Marvin Mims...been treated like the #2 in OTAs.
3: DeVaughn Vele...a strong spring has him as a #3/starter despite missing much of OTAs with an injury.
4: Troy Franklin...been better than last year, but still not starter level.
5: Pat Bryant...the rookie isn’t ready/ahead of the top 4. Don’t buy any media hype/Rookie Derangement Syndrome that he is starting.
6: A three-way tie right now between...
The veteran Trent Sherfield...probably #6 right now.
UDFA rookie Kyrese White...very likely going to the practice squad.
A.T. Perry...he’s trying to get that final spot vs. the practice squad.
Here’s what Sean Payton has said about ATP, according to Grok research...
From Grok... Here are the relevant quotes and context regarding Sean Payton or other coaches/GM mentioning A.T. Perry in 2025, based on available information:
Quote from Sean Payton:
Text: “He’s long with good hands” and “A young player we want to develop.”
Context: This statement was made by Sean Payton, head coach of the Denver Broncos, as noted in posts found on X. The comments reflect Payton's observations of A.T. Perry's physical attributes and potential, indicating an interest in developing him further. This was mentioned in the context of Perry being noticed on film from the previous year, suggesting a focus on his growth as a player, likely in the 2025 season.
Additional Context from X Posts: Posts found on X also mention Payton's interest in Perry's development, with one user noting that Payton wanting to work with Perry "tells me everything I need to know," indicating a positive sentiment among fans about Perry's potential role. Another post suggests the Broncos are looking at Perry, alongside other young receivers like Franklin and Vele, as part of their skill position development, though no specific 2025 plans were detailed beyond this interest.
Web Context: An article from SI.com dated May 11, 2025, discusses the highest-paid NFL coaches, including Payton, but does not specifically address A.T. Perry. However, a Denver Post article from May 23, 2025, about the Broncos' depth chart during OTAs mentions Perry as a "promising young player who didn’t get a look on Sundays last year but has ability." It positions him as a potential wild card in the receiver room, alongside other players like Bryant and Sherfield, suggesting Payton and the coaching staff are considering his integration into the 2025 roster. No direct quotes from Payton or other coaches/GM about Perry in this specific article were provided, but the context implies ongoing evaluation.
RC Note: Nothing radical said about Perry, but some generic/mildly hopeful words. We’ll see. Unlikely because of off-field (assumption as to why he got bounced from the Saints)...but I’m still tracking because he is a talent...and more talented than Marvin Harrison Jr., as I have claimed at times last year, but will never get the same shot.

**The FREE FFM APP (notes for those who have not signed up yet...)
-- The App is NOT automatically set up to recognize your FFM site credentials (username/password).
-- Sign up for the App as if you’re brand new to FFM...it’s a separate ‘thing’/brain from the site. You can use your same exact username/password signing up for the App, to keep it easy for you to remember.
-- Enable the App notifications to get a notification sent to your device when key reports are posted, and/or (especially) in-season when we get inside info/intel from sources before anyone else and it might be news we all need to FF-act on quickly before the world finds out.
-- App tip #1 (FYI): Upper Left (three lines) on App home page, click it, then click profile, then click ‘Push notifications’ – and you’ll see all the alerts we’ve sent in chronological order. App tip #2 (FYI)...if you see things posted but you got no device notification, but you are enabled for notifications…go to your phone’s ‘Settings’>Apps>FFM App>Click the Notifications off then on…like a reboot. I don't know why this works but it does to kick the phone back into business.
*Android App version may be unavailable this week as we have to file new papers with Google...there’s no more hassle in the world than the constant twists of paperwork compliance for Apps on Google or Apple. And the process is...they just freeze or disappear your App until you do the most minute thing they decided was needed that week. But it will be up again shortly, if not showing this day.
6/21 SAT
(8:33amET)
-- Final travel day for a bit. Finally headed home after a week of travel and family visits. Back to normal work all next week+.
I’ll be finalizing a Dynasty top 600 update to post SUN-MON, TUE at the latest. All projections (Draft Guide, Best Ball, IDP will be updated throughout the week).
The ‘Holy’ list (of players) report for redraft 2025 will be out next week among other items we have in store.
-- NBC Headline: The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo thinks the Steelers could call “lots of quick slants to DK Metcalf” to keep Aaron Rodgers “upright more often and take advantage of his quick release.”
Let me just say -- the Steelers will find out fast that quick slants are not DKM’s game. Man, the Steelers just feel like they are gonna implode this season...finally the Tomlin offensive nightmare catches up to them.
This headline helps DKM value to trade away, however, if needed.
Also, in Steelers WR news...
All the heat is with Calvin Austin as the #2 and in the slot, which means (if true) Roman Wilson tanks even more in an Art Smith offense.
Thinking back, last year, this offense/pass game was so pathetic...it was everything to George Pickens, then 1-2 catches a game for Van Jefferson as the #2, and for Scotty Miller as a #3...eventually Austin kinda took over as a #2-3 WR, and Austin shined in spurts but then the Steelers wouldn’t see it through/throw it to him more after he’d make a huge play.
I am trepidatious on Austin as the #2, for FF, but I do like his game.
I want to love Roman Wilson so much, but it doesn’t look like the Steelers are there yet.
Plus, the Steelers are looking for ‘name’ WRs in a deal (supposedly/reportedly) to go across from DKM.
I just don’t FF-love anything about the Steelers passing game 2025, at all.
-- Cleveland Browns RB talk, from what I’m told:
1) Quinshon Judkins is the clear 1st-2nd-down lead back.
2) They are going to rotate Judkins out on 3rd-downs with another RB...a la when they had prime Nick Chubb, they rotated him too much with Kareem Hunt...but it did make sense when they needed a pass game RB (because Chubb is not a good pass game back).
The current 3rd-down/#2 back is Jerome Ford.
3) They are working heavily with Dylan Sampson in the passing game...to be the eventual pass game back with Judkins, as Ford leaves next year. And they are going so far as to work Sampson some as a slot WR...just for receiving practice, don’t take that as Sampson is some freak RB/WR to snatch. But do be prepared if media outlets trump up the Sampson pass game work in the next week -- but don’t buy too deep into it.
The Browns want to be a power run game (Judkins), and they are not using Sampson in the slot for real.
-- Just an update on something we were tracking when word hit that Marshawn Lloyd was working with the injured group at practice weeks ago. He is healthy/cleared...and Josh Jacobs owners need to be wary AND Emanuel Wilson ‘dreamers’ (like me) are likely doomed.

I think FFMers could do quite well in the unique contests they have…especially jumping on things early, ahead of the curve -- like the all-Rookie (2025 class) FF draft/lineup contest and the D-Up/all IDP Best Ball tournament play. They are trying to bring unique game play to the DFS/Best Ball draft world, I think you might enjoy.***

-- Eagles OTA notes...
Kelee Ringo is set to start at CB opposite Quinton Mitchell...Ringo seems on the verge of beating out Adoree Jackson.
Buzz is continuing to grow for EDGE Jalyx Hunt...one of the reasons why Josh Sweat was allowed to walk in free agency.
Will Shipley appears to be pulling ahead as a occasional 3rd-down/pass game-ish type #2-3 RB. Montrell Johnson...I have barely heard a peep about.
Jeremiah Trotter may be a forced-to-be starter Week 1 at LB...Jihad Campbell may not practice until sometime in August and Nakobe Dean may be out for chunks of time into the season.
WR Terrace Marshall has been a consistent, surprise performer all spring. Not only does it seem like he’s gonna make the team, but he’s being whispered as a possible starter over Jahan Dotson.
SAF Andrew Mukuba has been practicing some with the starters...as Sydney Brown loses a bunch of momentum for Philly.
-- Don’t blame me, I said Shedeur was the story that keeps ‘giving’...
NBC headline: Cleveland’s Alex Darus reports that Shedeur Sanders’ Tuesday citation for 101 MPH occurred hours after Sanders failed to appear in court for another speeding ticket issued less than 2 weeks prior.
I wonder how all the fanboy media members pushing Shedeur as a Week 1 starter are going to defend this?
I’m sure Deion/Dad will blame the road or the vehicle or the cops or media.
This.
Is.
Never.
Happening.
Shedeur is going to bust. He already has.
-- This Rashee Rice suspension story...the clock is ticking for the 2025 season start...and if they can keep having the court case delayed, Rice is starting to trend towards ‘getting away with it’ for another season.
Had Rice killed someone in this reckless, criminal vehicle operation...then he’d be on a Henry Ruggs path...but no one died, so...it’s fine. No rush to have any justice. It’s good to be a good NFL player...
Next Draft Guide projections update, across the board...we will be ticking Rice up in valuation, as he looks to evade/delay penalty. And Jalen Royals declines at the same rate as Rashee rises -- for 2025. For Dynasty, the penalty is coming eventually.

6/19 THU
(7:31amET)
-- There had been two cornerbacks out there available that could make a huge difference for contending teams, but one of them just landed with a new team… Jaire Alexander signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
That is an impactful move for the Ravens, an instant starter...a top-flight shutdown corner if he’s fully healthy. A nice upgrade at one of the critical positions we favor most highly in the NFL. It certainly helps their DST projections, but this Ravens-DST is gonna be dragged down by that early schedule, so we can’t get too excited for DST purposes...but it is a boost, nonetheless.
And it’s a boost for their NFL win total projections/team status. The Ravens were one of the top teams in our last 1.0 simulations, but needed a little something to get over the top in our next simulation run -- and this might be it/the move because at the same time powerhouse teams like the Lions lost their longtime center Frank Ragnow and then the Rams might be losing key OL Alaric Jackson to a blood clot.
Up next to make a big dent/change in our NFL 2025 season simulations -- is where Jalen Ramsey lands. All signs point to him going to the Rams, but it’s nowhere near a done deal.
-- The Sanders are the story that keeps giving. Not even worth me typing about...just sit back and chuckle at the latest items...
Will Pavia end up getting drafted higher than Shedeur???
-- Word out of Cleveland: Diontae Johnson appears to be winning a job, a starting job...bumping Jamari Thrash, and possibly Diontae going to be a starting slot receiver.
And despite the media desperately hoping and projecting and assuming Shedeur Sanders as the starting QB...Joe Flacco will be the Week 1 starter, it’s not even really a debate...only a debate among fanboys and rookie deranged. It’s still questionable that Shedeur even makes the team.
-- Mildly interesting news...
I would not have thought Kyler to be a chess player.

-- The Oronde Gadsden hype is hitting a fever pitch -- with good reason, but I’m just noticing/amazed/pleased how strong it is.
I’m pointing it out for several reasons, but mainly to note for those with DRDs upcoming -- his ADP has been popping and has more to run with the avalanche of positive news reports getting pushed.
We’ll have our latest ADP read on the Thursday weekly DRD top 300 update.

-- Good news for Anthony Richardson, his shoulder surgeon/second opinion visit did not turn up any serious issues with his shoulder -- just rest needed.
But the problem is -- Richardson is missing all the valuable practice and cohesion time, which is critical given the QB competition that AR is in -- a competition that the coaches do not want and/or expect Richardson to win, in my belief.
I mean they want him to make a miraculous turn (of ability) and win it, sure...but I think they know they cannot win with Richardson right now -- and with the recent team ownership change, the HC and GM are out of time. They are battling for their jobs this year…right from the jump. Ballard may not survive no matter what...if Richardson is a flop.
https://www.si.com/nfl/colts/news/insider-update-anthony-richardson-gets-second-opinion
-- The news of Josh Reynolds being the Jets #2 WR right now…it’s sad, but likely true…but it made me think/wonder — what happened to Malachi Corley? Memba him? A year ago, literally, all so very hopeful and important...a cautionary tale about falling in love with rookies.
Corley has been hurt/missing camp…and Aaron Glenn is not happy about it. So far, Corley has not impressed the new regime.
-- Leading the Titans OTAs in total receptions...
#2 = Xavier Restrepo
#1 = Chig Okonkwo
Obviously, it’s just practices and several factors go into who got what targets...and who knows whether any of this is a harbinger for the season or not, but two things to note that I have been told steadily though the last few weeks...
1) Restrepo looks better than his worrisome Pro Day 40-time scared many of us. He does have that on-field relationship with Cam Ward -- his ‘Wes Welker’. And he has a very good shot of making this team from a UDFA status...and that ‘starting’ isn’t a possibility to be dismissed but likely not for Week 1 but eventually will play more and more as the season goes on.
2) There does seem to be a lot of people impressed with the Ward-Chig connection in the early camps and practices. Ward is comfortable throwing to the TE...a good sign for a rookie QB; you’d think.

6/16 MON
(7:42am)
-- I’m doing some post-Draft Guide 1.0 version complete travelling, so the timings on posts might be a little unusual this week. FYI.
But I have been working on a few special reports that will drop this week...including finishing my Bryce Young REWIND once and for all...and I am working on the ‘Holy’ list of players for the 2025 Draft Guide, among other things.
-- Some real momentum starting to build for Trey Benson going forward (media report below for more info)...
The problem with getting too excited about Benson right now is -- the team is so connected to James Conner that Benson really isn't going to get a chance until Conner gets hurt and is out for some period of time this season...and that launches the Trey Benson era that won't be easily put back on the bench... But probably will go to the bench when Conner returns from a theoretical injury because the team loves Connor so much. They're not going to abandon Conner, probably, until it's too late.
It's going to be an annoying waiting game as a Trey Benson owner...knowing that once he gets a chance he may be an RB1 right off the bat...but waiting for his chance might be painstakingly slow. The good news is, there's more and more good news about Benson from OTAs are leaking out -- his time is going to come, I just don't know when.
I think if you own Benson already, you should be working this offseason to acquire James Conner to have both pieces of the puzzle. And vice versa obviously... You have to own Trey Benson if you have Conner.
-- This was an odd news report...
Travis Kelce cut 25 pounds this offseason... down to just 225 lbs? And this was on purpose not him getting sick or something? It is definitely noteworthy for the 35-year-old Kelce to lose a bunch of weight to play faster this season -- but he cut so much weight that it's not really normal for an NFL TE his size to play at 225.
He may add back 5-10 lbs come August, and that's still being impressive and noteworthy thing to do -- to lose a bunch of weight at an advanced NFL age in order to play faster/better. It's a positive sign for those with Kelce already.
-- Coming up on FFM today/this week...
-- Dynasty Rookie Draft series 2.0 continues -- going through another run of Five-Round Mock DRDs from each of the 12 draft slots (12 tm lg). Will run from 6/14-6/25. One slot report out per day.

I’m almost done my REWIND Report on Mr. Bryce Young. Just trying to get the Draft Guide work completed in a day with free time late to edit/clean up my rough draft. May not post this until after the Draft Guide officially drops. Possible Monday 6/17 release being targeted.
