(info on FastDraft game and our Promo Code for matching funds are below this intro section)
Today, I will be releasing a video of a 2-hour interview with Matt Kelley...better known to most as ‘The Podfather’.
This was not me (RC) on the hot seat with him, as is usual (it will be in a couple weeks)...but this was me interviewing Matt 1-on-1. I have not done a sit-down interview like this, with me as the interviewer, in a while. But I wanted to talk to him about three things primarily...
(1) We were just gonna talk for a second about the NFL Combine coming up, but of course you know we weren’t gonna keep that to a quick moment...so we jawed about things for a bit.
(2) I wanted to know his origin story...how did he get into the Fantasy Football business? What were his high school and college and first career events that shaped?
(3) I wanted to give him a chance to speak about a new creation of his = FastDraft...a Best Ball/tournament prize contest platform. Matt is really passionate about FastDraft, with good reason, and is feverishly trying to bring new contest concepts to the FF players and bettors out there.
This interview will be released on our YouTube channel around 10amET on YouTube today, for those interested.
Some deeper info and 'who to' details on FastDraft for those who might see a Fantasy contest profit opportunity here...
Matt had asked me, last year, to test out FastDraft when it was in the development and beta stages...and to give feedback on the experiences or bugs, etc. And I was impressed. He launched the first contests right before the 2024 season started.
But 2025 has a whole new set of game play, some first-of-its-kind type of drafts/contests that I believe people will really be interested in. AND Matt created a special promo code opportunity for FFM to get some matching funds upon initial signup and initial deposit...and FFM, of course, gets some credit on that too.
You can get a better idea of the contest options and overview on the App itself from our podcast interview...but I am also going to boil it down to the bullet points here (below), if you just want to jump right into it...and I think there is some opportunity here for you draftniks to take advantage of your early scouting/awareness on prospects and enter the prize contests and walk away with some loot in these tournaments.
Here’s the lowdown on how to dive in on FastDraft...
-- Download the FastDraft (all one word) App...a red F, white D for the logo and you’re at the right place.
-- Signup for an account (it will verify your state/eligibility...which is anywhere you can play DFS legally, pretty much).
-- At the initial sign up USE PROMO CODE = FFM (if you don’t enter the code at first sign up, you’ll miss the opportunity and miss out on the matching bonus).
-- If you deposit $25, you’ll get a +$25 matching bonus deposit with that FFM promo code.
Three contests/drafts out there to enter right now...
1) ORIGINS = A six round, Best Ball draft for 2025 season...but ONLY incoming rookies are eligible to be drafted.
2) D-UP = A six round, Best Ball contest...but ONLY the IDPs are eligible to be drafted (rookies or existing).
3) FLEX 4 = A traditional Best Ball drafting six of any RB-WR-TE
You are using boosters in every contest -- set your team (after the draft) in priority order of what you want for a scoring boost/tiered ‘lineup’. Change as often as you want before the contest begins in-season.
FastDraft TIPS from my experience testing it out:
-- After you get signed up and are ready to join a contest...tap the contest you want to enter, review the ‘details’ for the contest scoring system...and then go to ‘MY RANKINGS’ to set your draft board the way you want it.
-- IMPORTANT TIP: Once in MY RANKINGS, the fastest/best way to change a player’s rank on your board...tap the rank number (the green square with the number inside) and then you can type a number to get the player moved up/down to where you’d like to have them.
You can also drag & drop the names to re-order, but I found typing in a number and getting them in a general area is a good start, then I re-evaluate until I got the board where I like it.
Your rankings will be remembered for the next time you enter, and you can change them again as many times as you want.
TWO DRAFT OPTIONS:
You can do a traditional draft with the quick timer to make your picks live, like a normal type online draft.
OR
You can do my preferred...’Turbo Mode’. You are basically setting up to have your players auto-drafted based on your rankings. Enter the contest and then leave. Once the draft happens, you will get a notification and email of your draft results.
The contest is not position critical, so you don’t have to attend it live to make sure you’re filling positions properly or waiting for someone to ‘fall’ in the draft. You got your rankings of the players, and the ‘TurboMode’ drafts according to your rankings...easy-peasy.
If you have any questions about it feel free to email me, and I can try to tell you what I know from testing it...or I can get a question answered from the developers.
