Just an open page for me to drop notes/ideas/things I'm hearing/seeing/working on or just caffeinated or lack of sleep thoughts on football items.

-- Joe Flacco signed with the Browns...a one-year, $4M deal -- with incentives up to $13M.
It is entirely possible that the Browns are planning for Joe Flacco to be their opening day, and ‘all season’ 2025 starter.
And it means that the Browns may or may not make a move for Kirk Cousins after all. If your first reaction to all this is theory is -- that’s crazy, of course Kirk Cousins is better than Joe Flacco. Not so fast my friends.
Flacco was really good in 2023, late season with the Browns -- helping win some of us FF titles he was so good...top 5 in FF output good in that closing stretch. He now returns to the team he had that insane 2023 late-season run with...a place where he knows the coach, the system, and most of the players. He’s much respected in Cleveland.
With Flacco in place, if the Browns were to make a move for Kirk Cousins during/after the draft...it would now be at a lower asking price. The Browns are not as desperate at QB today as they were a few days ago.
We also have to keep in mind -- Kirk Cousins is no slam dunk for 2025 anyway. Cousins-2024 was bad...like Matt Ryan, that one Colts year, bad. We may have watched the end of a QB’s career in real time last year watching Cousins’ flop and get benched in Atlanta. Maybe Cousins was bothered by his achilles issue from 2023 and is going to be better a year removed from it...it’s possible. But Cleveland is now in the driver’s seat of less desperation to chase it. Adding Flacco was not just a cheap, old guy add for CLE with no expectations/hope -- he’s a respected person in Cleveland’s coaching room and locker room with a contract (the incentives) to pay him to lead the way if called upon.
The Browns can let Flacco and Kenny Pickett battle it out in the preseason. That may not be all that exciting, but Flacco still had something left in the tank...and maybe Pickett continues to grow away from the Steelers nightmare he had to endure. Flacco v. Pickett for 2025 may be the best the Browns can do in the QB marketplace AND because they’re ‘the Browns’ they really can’t recruit good QBs to go there willingly anyway. I’m not sure Cousins wants to go there all that much anyway. Cousins' best move now may be to be a Falcons backup and wait to see if a QB injury to a contender arises and he can try to become a savior there...all while sitting as the ATL backup and collecting millions to hold a clipboard.
If all this streaming thought theory is true...Flacco is a QB of some FF-value for 2025 all of a sudden...up from ‘no’ value prior.
The risk to any Flacco 2025 shock FF usefulness is (a) the Browns trade for Cousins (but I’m not sure they are now; it’s no longer a given) and (b) Kenny Pickett could win the battle in the preseason...or (c) an incoming rookie blows past them all.
I think the Browns are ready to go with a QB depth chart of:
1a) Flacco
1b) Pickett
c) 2nd-round+ rookie QB
...it’s not like the Browns are positioning themselves for a Super Bowl run. This gives them two young QBs to develop/look at while getting whacked this year and trying to wash the franchise-crushing Deshaun Watson contract out of the system some more...to re-do the roster to try and be decent in a few years. Not saying it will work, but it’s probably their internal theory right now -- ‘we’re dead in 2025’, we got the Deshaun contract hanging over us, let’s try and be better for 2027+.
With the possibility of the QB depth chart being:
1) Cousins
2) Flacco
3) Pickett
...I just don’t understand what Cleveland is ‘going for’ in 2025 with this potential QB depth chart (above), given their real salary cap situation...where they pursue two older QBs to try and make a run at a Super Bowl?!?!?
I had a thought that ‘what if...’ the Browns draft Travis Hunter #2, and almost assuredly they will, but then draft Shedeur Sanders later 1st-or 2nd-round...connecting the two Colorado Buffaloes. Sweet story but if Hunter and Shedeur wind up in Cleveland, then the 2026 head coach of the Browns will be Deion Sanders. So, there is NO way (you’d think) Stefanski will stand for that. So, there is almost no way the Browns will be drafting Shedeur, for that Deion reason alone...much less any of the other myriad of reasons not to draft Shedeur.
So, either Cleveland trades for Cousins to be their 3rd QB on the roster...or the Browns draft not-Ward and not-Shedeur to be the 3rd QB. This could very well be the Tyler Shough landing spot...in the 2nd-round. More and more, I am thinking the Browns next QB add to the roster will be a non-1st-round rookie...and NOT Cousins…but Cousins still possible, especially if he is essentially ‘free’, payroll-wise.
If the Browns are out of the Shedeur sweepstakes, then Shedeur is running out of places to go in the 1st-round. It’s either the Saints...or a dramatic fall. The Steelers could be a savior spot, but not if they want Aaron Rodgers to sign there...but the Steelers may bail out of the Rodgers business/Rodgers may ultimately ‘pass’ on the Steelers for Minnesota or ‘other’. I think the Steelers are taking Jalen Milroe 1st-round, not Shedeur, if they are forced to take a QB in the 1st-round/they want out of the Rodgers ‘circus’.
I cannot wait for this draft!!!

I got a trade rumor/prediction a day to throw out there. I’ll try to throw one out a day, up to the draft, and I’ll put a school grade on how much I believe it at the time of writing. We’ll see if any of them end up in reality...
4/13 Rumor/Prediction = Let’s get Will Levis traded.
Teams almost NEVER keep a young QB threat around to sit behind their incoming top pick QB. And there will be a market for Levis because of the desperation at QB...THEE most QB desperate teams are Pittsburgh and New Orleans. The Browns could be in the mix as well...bypass taking a rookie in the draft and take a cheap swing at Levis.
A Levis trade will happen after draft day, once we get to the moment where the Titans have selected Ward...Ward safely made it intact to the draft...and the Saints are given time to make a ridiculous offer to move to #1 that the Titans cannot refuse.
Once Ward is gone #1, then the desperate teams have their decisions to make...waste 1st-round picks on garbage QBs (Shedeur, Dart, Milroe) or simply trade a 3rd/4th-round pick for Levis, thus retaining their 1st-round pick and choosing a non-QB with the pick. Take a rookie QB later, like Tyler Shough...which is what many of the non-Titans teams want to do anyway...the Shough love is real, but that’s day two/not day one of the draft.
I’m gonna take a shot in the dark that the Saints acquire Levis. The Steelers have those Rodgers hopes. The Browns have Flacco-Pickett + whatever rookie they draft from round 2-7.

-- Well, this was a ‘bombshell’ in the news yesterday...
Headline: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that “Derek Carr is now dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for this season.”
It’s not good if he’s gonna be out for the year...but it’s not good if he tries to play through it in some capacity. ‘Not good’ for (FF)...
Chris Olave tumbles down the projections.
Alvin Kamara's output is hurt by this.
Juwan Johnson is really hurt by this...he’s relevant if Carr is healthy, he’s in real trouble without Carr. They’re connected.
The reason we have to downgrade all the ‘stars’ is -- who’s gonna play QB for the Saints in 2025? Or more appropriate...how bad is it going to be? Their rumored (a few weeks ago) offer of three 1st-round picks for Tennessee’s #1 pick makes a lot more sense now. If they can’t get to the #1 pick...who can they turn to? Shedeur? Dart? Milroe? Rattler?
The thought of all this made me rush to see the Saints win total under bet...but DK took it off the board when the news hit. But then put it back on later last night...6.5 wins, UNDER is at a steep (-150). I’m evaluating it.
-- I can’t help. If you can make Shedeur Sanders stop giving me fodder...I won’t comment on him/his draft situation.
Shedeur says (in the article): “When I go visit these coaches and when I go to all these different franchises, I ask them truly what I think and how I feel,” Sanders said. “Some get offended, some like it, some don’t. Make some people uncomfortable, some people invite that. They know what type of person and what type of player they’re gonna get out of me, so I just have to make sure, you know, what type of culture or what type of dynamic I’m going to have with them also.”
Who talks like that at age 23 to NFL team management...when trying to endear himself to teams to get drafted highly (or now to even get drafted in the 1st-round)? The arrogant Sanders’ family...that’s who. They are outta control with their arrogance -- and that’s why Shedeur is falling...because teams/owners/coaches don’t like him...at all. He’s incredibly unlikable and totally full of himself. Many players like that try to hide it until after the draft...Shedeur has no sense of awareness at all. He thinks his arrogance is confidence and that everyone needs to know what he is thinking and how smart and in demand he is at every moment.
I said that was gonna happen, and was happening already, back in January. If Shedeur were a ‘next coming’ talent, then that would be a different debate...but for a ‘C’ grade QB to shoot his mouth off over and over again and have his dad calling coaches to call them out for ‘spreading lies’ (he thinks). No team in their right mind wants this circus...not for a ‘C’ grade QB.
If Shedeur would’ve been humble all year, and if Deion would’ve never said a word besides being happy for any team to consider his son (instead of first saying he would dictate what teams Shedeur would or wouldn’t play for) -- Shedeur would’ve probably gone top 5. Now, I don’t think he’ll even go in the 1st-round.
The difference between being the #2 pick overall in 2024...and the #2 pick in the 2nd-round is $37M guaranteed (Jayden Daniels) vs. $4M guaranteed (Ladd McConkey). Shedeur and his dad are literally about to lose themselves $33M+ with their big fat mouths...and I’m here for it...I want to see it happen on live television in two weeks.
If the Saints get pressured in to taking Shedeur #9 because of the Derek Carr situation...then the Saints deserve the utter collapse they are undergoing as it is.
QB options for the Saints, outside of the draft? What if they are the ones that are forced to trade for...Will Levis? If Levis goes to New Orleans...he will be their Week 1 starter. The whole Saints game/scenario changes if they fall @$$backwards into Levis.
Levis to Pittsburgh or New Orleans, right now...the leaders in the clubhouse for him.

4/12 Rumor/Prediction = With the Derek Carr news breaking, might the Saints be in the business of trading off assets for picks to go full rebuild?
You know who would be really smart to trade off, if Carr is really toast? You thought I would say Alvin Kamara. No...I would look to trade Chris Olave. He’s in his final year of his rookie deal. He’s gonna want a hellacious long-term deal...but why do that when you could ditch him and draft 2-3 legit WRs from this draft alone...they could get Tet McMillan at #9 to start the ball rolling.

You’ve got the contract coming up, but you’ve also got the Olave concussion issues...do you want to give a huge deal to a player one hit away from probably the end of his career? Now is the time to make a move...it’s not like the Saints are winning any titles this year, or next...at a minimum...unless they get Levis-to-Tet...the ‘Tet offensive’...the t-shirts print themselves...code name ‘Tetris’...I could do this all-day people.
Chances they trade Olave? I’d put a ‘D-’ confidence grade on it. Trading Olave would require a savvy, sound organization and GM...’no’, and ‘no’ with New Orleans. And it’s always a good bet to bet against any NFL GM from doing something savvy, preemptive and/or radical.

-- I had a question posed yesterday about ‘How soon will the Dynasty Rookie Draft rankings come out after the NFL Draft?’ I’ll post my answer here for your planning...especially for those who have DRD drafts the next few days/the next weekend after the NFL Draft.
The NFL Draft ends 4/26 SAT.
I'd project the following timeline for our DRD 1.0 rankings:
4/27 SUN = the top 25-50 will be out...with 10-20 player commentaries. And some reporting on my vibe overall on the top 10-12/1st-round strength and strategy, etc.
4/28 MON = it will be up to the top 50-100 with 25-30+ commentaries.
4/29 TUE = it will be top 150-200 with 30-40+ commentaries
4/30 WED = it will be top 200+ with 40+ commentaries
Skip to...
By FRI 5/2 we look for that to be the top 300 with 50+ player commentaries. Knowing a big chunk of DRDs will be going off 5/2-3-4.
More DRD player commentaries will be posting/updating every week for the rest of the preseason and the DRD top 300 rankings overall will update every week/every THU/FRI is our usual flow, ahead of the weekends.
In addition...
I'm going to do a top 12 (at least, or more) mock DRD next week to give some ideas of where I think we're at pre-NFL Draft, and we will talk some strength and strategy of this year’s DRD...then we will do some 5-round mocks daily from 4/28-5/2 from the different DRD draft spots #1-10/12 to go along with our top 300 DRD rankings updates. Then we’ll do more five-round mock DRDs throughout the summer into the preseason to keep up with the latest movements on the DRD landscape.
*Just making sure you know this: Today, if you need DRD rankings -- you can also filter the Dynasty top 600 rankings spreadsheet to just the 'RK' Label column and it will show JUST the rookies in order of early computer projections and what #/rank they are among the top 600 players.
-- How many more ‘Tyreek Hill being disturbed/disturbing’ news events are we gonna get between now and his NFL end? Yesterday we had this headline: FOX Sports 640’s Andy Slater reports that “the NFL has requested the 911 audio from the” recent domestic dispute involving Tyreek Hill.
After Hill retires, how long do you think it will be before he is really arrested/put in jail...or is the incarceration gonna happen while he’s an active player? That dude has been flirting with trouble like his whole career...most always it is relationship drama, and that’s not gonna change when he has no football to sidetrack him with...when he’s home all the time with nothing to do/nowhere to really be, the trouble concerns will double+.
Miami is stuck...hard to trade him when he’s becoming such a liability. However, I’m sure there’s always a market for Tyreek, the one and only. I think KC would take him back in an instant...for the right deal (in their favor). Coaches/GMs on the hot seat would be all-in to rent him for a year. Possibly coaches, who are in the title hunt, and who think their ‘culture’ could keep him contained would make a one-year bet. Detroit? Houston?
But I think Miami is stuck in that...they made the big move for him a few years ago, and he is the entire offense...just the coverage attention he draws alone is super-valuable. If Miami trades Hill...the Dolphins, and their HC and GM, are toast.

4/11 Rumor/Prediction = I think the Giants will trade out of the #3 spot to any team that wants to overpay to get their hands on Abdul Carter, but that trade likely wouldn’t happen (if it does) until Ward-Hunter go 1-2...once NYG is for sure out of the Hunter sweepstakes, then they will have a deal in place with a team already worked out if Hunter is gone/Carter is still there.
Who will come up for Carter? Who won’t? NFL head coaches ADORE edge rushers...especially those who might be anything like their small-g god, Micah Parsons.
My confidence grade NYG will trade this pick: ‘C+’...if I knew for sure Hunter was going #2 (and I think he very much is), then it might be a ‘B’.
What team moves up here? My #1 guess is...Atlanta over trades to get a ‘splash’ pass rusher, finally. NYG moves to #15 and maybe gets the Falcons #46 pick as well, and a third item...whether the Falcons 1st-pick in 2026 pick and/or a player added (like Tyler Allgeier to go with Tracy). My confidence grade in ATL to be the one: ‘C-/D+’, if NYG trades it.
I’d think the Falcons would be aggressive, BUT they may be further back in the 1st-round than NYG wants to fall to.
NE-JAX-LV could all be in play for a more simple/less complicated swap of top 6 picks with whatever sweeteners for them to get to #3. NYG could fall back to #4-5-6 and then pick Ashton Jeanty as the make up for Saquon woes.

“That scout was one of four personnel people to express reservations about Carter's makeup. "He's not a great worker," said one. "Plays his ass off on Saturday but he's not a great guy during the week because he's so gifted.”
From Bedard: “I heard from people at the Senior Bowl that Abdul Carter is known to be high maintenance and a bit of an a**hole.”
Well, well, well...
‘They’ likely will not post this in the RotoBlurbs or on mainstream football news-blurb sites.
RC: I kinda trust Bob McGinn in these things...and I’m trusting Reddit, so that’s where the concern would come in (trusting Reddit reports)...but no one in the Reddit comments refuted the post (and they love to find the errors...).
Abdul Carter was likely out of the running at #2, even before this information started leaking to the public...and the oddsmakers agree (Hunter -300, Abdul +210 to go 2nd in the draft).
I also agree with some of the Reddit commenters...if Jalen Carter can get drafted highly, after what he did and who he is -- then what Abdul Carter is accused of... ‘Who cares?’ But I also think, if you’re the Browns...if you were on the fence between Hunter-Carter, you’d take the Hunter personality over Carter to help make the tough decision...besides the fact that any team is insane taking edge rushers in the 1st-round.
I’ve thought Hunter would go #2 to CLE over Carter for a while (if TEN passed on Hunter)...if it were between those two, because if I am the Browns owner/brass, I’m thinking...our team may suck, but we can sell a helluva lot more ‘Hunter’ jerseys than we can ‘Carter’ jerseys. We can sell some season tickets with Hunter...not really with Carter.
And those economics matter.

This is after he was at CLE and NO, and I think already with PIT.
What is going on? When did this Jalen Milroe renaissance happen?
The Milroe rise...the fake Dart rise...it’s all happening due to the Shedeur Sanders fall, I believe. A fall destined to happen, as NFL teams realized (and most already figured it out months ago) Sanders is a ‘C’ talent at best and comes with a circus of ‘Sanders’ issues/grift. Teams looking around at the alternatives are left to consider the guy who could be an NFL power tailback who plays QB, who also won the Academic Heisman...no circus involved with him. No daddy drama with him.
...but it only takes one sucker team in the NFL to get suckered in.
Milroe is on the rise. I’m going to fall over if he gets picked in the 1st-round, but that scenario is getting more and more likely.

4/10 Rumor/Prediction = The Raiders will trade Michael Mayer. Why? They could keep him as a #2 TE...but why? They can get #2 TEs for nothing all over the place in free agency or the draft. LV already signed Ian Thomas in free agency as a veteran/capable backup.
The Raiders can/should move Mayer while he’s still an asset in demand, while they can get something for him. Don’t forget, the mainstream LOVED Mayer and hailed him as the ‘next Gronk’...umm, no.
Confidence grade on a Mayer trade: B+
Where to?
I have thought Patriots all year on this rumor, but other landing spots potentially: The L.A. Chargers...but I’m sure LV wouldn’t trade him in division...and Pete Carroll not wanting to deal with his archrival from their USC-Stanford years, Jim Harbaugh.
How about to Seattle? Where they need some TE talent...and he’d fit their run game/defense philosophy as a (their predominant desire) blocking TE...and there’s already a good pipeline for trade talks between the two teams? But I’m sure if Seattle was jonesing for Mayer, he could’ve been part of the Geno Smith deal in some way?

-- Headline from yesterday: Giants beat writer Art Stapleton reports the team is “doing a lot of homework on RBs” ahead of the draft.
There is so much smoke around the Giants taking an RB in this draft...there has to be a fire there. And I don’t mean ‘they take an RB on day three’...I mean, I am hearing more and more -- they are gonna go after a new Saquon Barkley hope to get people to forget about the Saquon debacle of 2024 -- and that would be with their 2nd pick/in the 2nd-round...#34 overall. *Which puts them in the Judkins-Henderson range and hoping Hampton falls.
My guess is -- this is where Judkins goes to team up with Tracy...just a pure guess.
All of this ‘not good’ for Tyrone Tracy, who will continue to tumble down our Dynasty and Best Ball projections.

I saw this headline in the football news yesterday...and it stopped my day for a few minutes: Colts RT Braden Smith said he struggled with religious scrupulosity last season.
The note from NBC: “I was physically present, but I was nowhere to be found,” Smith told the Indianapolis Star. “I did not care about playing football. I didn’t care about hanging out with my family, with my wife, with my newborn son.” Religious scrupulosity is a form of OCD. Smith checked into a mental health facility in Colorado and also used the drug Ibogaine in Mexico, which seems to have finally shifted him to a better state of mind. Smith took a pay cut to stay with the Colts this offseason after missing the final five games of the season and figures to be their starting right tackle this year.

4/9 Rumor/Prediction = Let’s go for a Hail Mary here...I thought it was a Hail Mary but then some words are starting to leak out into the mainstream media/speculation on the situation yesterday.
How about: James Cook is traded by the Bills because they see the looming contract issue with him wanting a major deal/early big extension...but the market demands that no RB is highly paid ever again, plus there’s a bevy of RBs to take in this draft...and the Bills have already said they are not talking extension with Cook, after Cook publicly started making a plea. Things are already getting, and are going to get more, contentious between the Bills and Cook as we hit the summer and preseason.
My confidence grade in this happening is just a ‘D+’...because, while I think this is going to be an issue (the contract demands) -- NFL teams always cave in these situations...management stuck by fear of public opinion -- not daring to give up an RB who just had a big season.
The other part is...who is stupid enough to trade for an RB who ‘average-good’ and wants a big contract coming over?
I will match-make Cook with a team that is suddenly ‘stupid’ to me -- James Cook gets traded to Dallas. That’s a pure guess. Cook to be traded is a thing being rumored, but to what team is totally unknown right now. Cleveland could be a trade spot as well.
If Buffalo does move Cook...part of the reason is -- they have confidence in Ray Davis + Ty Johnson (Ty just got a decent little extension this offseason) and they can draft a youngster on day three, plus Josh Allen takes touches and Curtis Samuel can pitch in. The Bills really don’t need Cook if he is gonna pout or cost them $50M+.

-- Shedeur Sanders is going into salesman/bull$#!##er mode (which is smart/doesn’t cost him anything)...
I think there’s a couple things at work here that’s gonna wind up with Shedeur with the Saints -- either in the top 10 or somewhere in the 1st-round...
1) The fact that Shedeur is putting on his sales/grift hat and is attempting to speak nice words about Kellen Moore...it means Shedeur senses blood in the water/a potential sucker.
There must be some good discussions going on with SS and NO/Kellen...or at least Shedeur is feeling it, a little (or is just desperate), to have Sanders going on and on, in a slightly immature/nonsensical/ill-informed way, about Kellen’s football career. BUT Shedeur at least tried to be a bit clever...like when your 7-year-old tries to make a pitch about why they should be able to stay up for an extra hour on a school night.
When you really go through the words Shedeur spoke about Kellen (in that article)...it’s such ‘reaching’ nonsense...that he thinks is super clever...which is the problem with Shedeur (he thinks he’s an elite QB and a super-genius mind but he’s a ‘C’ grade QB at best and not bright at all).
The Sanders are a con on the NFL...all about money and diamonds and cars and houses. Deion has earned his...Shedeur and Deion are trying to talk their way into the vault for Shedeur. It may work. It only takes one ‘fool’.
2) The Saints are DESPERATE for a QB. Kellen Moore doesn’t want Derek Carr, and Carr wanted out of New Orleans at the same time earlier this year. But Carr’s contract is impossible to deal with for a franchise that was ‘up against it’ for CAP space. And no one really wanted Carr...not enough to actually pay something for it (in trade), even if the Saints ate all the money, which they don’t want to.
The reason the Saints were the last team to hire a coach, and they hired a coach not in demand = because coaches with options saw the state of that team/salary cap and wouldn’t touch it.
So, kudos to Kellen for winning the lottery.
And the Saints have restructured a lot of things to open up some 2025 CAP space...now 14th most CAP space among teams. They were #32 in CAP in January. BUT they are now ‘up against it’ in 2026, because they kicked the can into next year.
A way to relieve themselves of Carr in the near future is gonna be by getting a new, cheaper QB...and the best way to do that is through the draft.
3) ...and the later in the draft they take said QB, the cheaper that QB will be (per season for 4 yrs). So, maybe we shouldn’t be surprised to see the Saints trade away pick #9 and fall back some in the 1st-round to get a cheaper QB...whether that is Shedeur or Dart or Shough...or Milroe.
4) Caffeinated thought: Would Kellen Moore see ‘Jalen Hurts’ in Jalen Milroe?
5) It looks like CLE and NYG are ‘out’ on Shedeur, so says me/my sources. That leaves, to me, the Saints and the Steelers...and the Steelers may want Milroe more than any QB not named Cam Ward from this draft...with Shough in the mix as well.
If the Steelers are the Milroe spot, and if that is the reason as to why Milroe got invited to attend the draft -- then the Saints are bidding against themselves for Shedeur or Dart...and they can fall back to the late 1st or 2nd-round to get one of them.
6) Caffeinated thought #2: Could the Milroe invite to the draft be a three-way battle between CLE-NO-PIT? My sources, and national media, have all three teams as ‘loving’ Milroe...and he’s easy to love -- super smart young man, built like a Lamar Jackson/Anthony Richardson hybrid (only he’s a worse passer than any of them).
7) The QB drama day 1 & 2 for this draft is gonna be sweet TV!!

4/8 Rumor/Prediction = The Patriots trade Ja’Lynn Polk...and they trade him to the Falcons to reunite with Michael Penix.
I don’t think Mike Vrabel thinks highly about what the Patriots did with the personnel and draft last year (as do most new coaches despise the last coach’s ‘guys’) and Vrabel will purge the previous regime’s players as he has the chance. He already fleeced the Cowboys, sending them Joe Milton. I think Polk is next, while he still has any value...he will have none in a few months after the new surge of rookie WRs comes in and buries him further into mediocrity and lower.
My grade on this possibility: ‘C+‘ confidence for them to trade Polk...’C-/D+’ confidence guess that it’s a trade to the Falcons.

-- This was an interesting headline from Sunday: The Athletic’s Dane Brugler reports Alabama QB Jalen Milroe will attend the draft.
On Sunday, when I noted: I think Jalen Milroe may be a shock option to get drafted ahead of Shedeur, if Sanders really falls. I wasn’t just throwing darts, even though a few people thought I was nuts with that statement.
It’s telling that Milroe is going to the draft...obviously, he must have some idea he might go earlier than anyone thinks -- and it doesn’t have to be in the 1st-round. He can hang and have fun at the draft with his family into day two. No one is gonna feel bad/sad for him if he doesn’t go 1st-round. If he doesn’t go 2nd-round, then it could get a touch sad...but he could bail after day one and have had a great time for a night with no pressure because no one thinks he is going 1st-round.
I think the Milroe range is between #25-75 right now. On the high side (late 1st-round), the reasoning is: super smart guy...I think he was the Academic Heisman...nice arm, great build/athlete/speed...’tools’ and ‘smarts’. The fact that he is a terrible ‘throwing’ QB is a minor issue for some teams...there’s always coaches that think, ‘I can fix him’.
I don’t think Milroe is fixable, but he is useful...for like 3rd or 4th-and-1 type things or Tush Push purposes, but as a franchise QB...not likely. BUT it only takes one team to love him...
The Steelers, I think, are that team (I think they love Milroe). We’ll see if that’s true...or if another team has even more enthusiasm. He’s a likeable kid with tools...and he is the polar opposite of Shedeur on the field and off.
The reason Milroe may go higher than expected is the same reason in reverse that Shedeur is likely to go later than expected.
The Ravens would probably like to put him behind Lamar Jackson, but not for the draft price it’s probably gonna take.

4/7 Rumor/Prediction = George Pickens will be traded by the Steelers. They want to get out ahead of a contract squabble coming...and they know he is a knucklehead type player that won’t be cured with $100M+ dollars. Ross believes the Packers will be the team in hottest pursuit. I will bet a nickel on ‘to the Raiders’ -- Tom Brady betting Pete Carroll might get through to him AND Brady could see Pickens as his Randy Moss-esque ‘troubled’ reclamation project moment as quasi-GM.
My grade on this possibility: ‘C‘.
My hesitation on him getting traded is -- did the Steelers promise Rodgers that Pickens would be there for 2025?

*Positional NFL Draft Scouting Grades (1.0 versions) will continue to post over the next few weeks...grading on the prospects we have enough information to run the first wave of scouting model grades. Those boards will be updated daily/weekly up into the NFL Draft, and post-Draft...with more data coming in over the summer and additionally re-graded after we scout players in the preseason.

I think FFMers could do quite well in the unique contests they have…especially jumping on things early, ahead of the curve -- like the all-Rookie (2025 class) FF draft/lineup contest and the D-Up/all IDP Best Ball tournament play. They are trying to bring unique game play to the DFS/Best Ball draft world, I think you might enjoy.***

**The FREE FFM APP (notes for those who have not signed up yet...)
-- The App is NOT automatically set up to recognize your FFM site credentials (username/password).
-- Sign up for the App as if you’re brand new to FFM...it’s a separate ‘thing’/brain from the site. You can use your same exact username/password signing up for the App, to keep it easy for you to remember.
-- Enable the App notifications to get a notification sent to your device when key reports are posted, and/or (especially) in-season when we get inside info/intel from sources before anyone else and it might be news we all need to FF-act on quickly before the world finds out.
-- App tip #1 (FYI): Upper Left (three lines) on App home page, click it, then click profile, then click ‘Push notifications’ – and you’ll see all the alerts we’ve sent in chronological order. App tip #2 (FYI)...if you see things posted but you got no device notification, but you are enabled for notifications…go to your phone’s ‘Settings’>Apps>FFM App>Click the Notifications off then on…like a reboot. I don't know why this works but it does to kick the phone back into business.
