God willing...Tuesday, later in the day, we are opening up a new subscription option for the betting side of our football information/scouting. *We will send an alert out when subscriptions are open on Tuesday.*
But there’s, actually, two components to this new offering – one directly betting related, the other a tool for Fantasy players and bettors alike. Those who do not bet, or cannot bet yet, on football directly may be interested in subscribing for the Fantasy side of things – with the debut of a private FFM chat room/club.
Let me describe in more detail what’s involved with this subscription on the (1) Betting side, and (2) the private FFM club/chat room.
(1) ‘Betting’
We’re simply calling the new subscription ‘Betting’, because that’s what my original/simple idea was – a place on the FFM website to access all of our betting information.
As betting on football becomes more readily available and can be a great way to try and profit from our football studies/scouting, I wanted to dedicate an area of FFM to this growing part of the football world. And, so, we are doing just that.
I get asked so many questions about things I’m betting on and what I think about other bets, and I am making more and more bets personally, now that I live in a state where the online sportsbooks are legal – it just makes sense to put my wager information in one place for everyone interested to see...as we try and make some more profits together off of football, and share the info.
We’re not telling you what to bet or even to ever bet with this. What you do with the info for your own betting is your business. We’re just sharing things that we’re looking at or betting on...and you can choose to act or not on anything you see. We’re not selling picks or advising anyone. We’re just sharing info on what we’re doing.
Three of the major items/things that will be posted/available in the ‘betting area’ of FFM, among several things we have in mind...
#1: My betting portfolio
Every bet I’ve made, the date, and the amount will be listed on my tracking spreadsheet –so that you can see (and search and download, etc.), and that I can see, ‘how I’m doing’ – on the season long bets, the ATS game bets, and anything else we usually talk about in a given season...just now it will be stored in one place so you don’t have to never-miss anything I ever say on video or in print on what I’m looking at/betting – what I do will be in one place to access.
I’m looking to see if I can do better/achieve greater returns as a bettor than I could in the stock market or with bonds/treasuries with my football knowledge/scouting. So, I’m taking a small chunk of money and am going to put my money where my mouth/studies are.
I’m not ‘going crazy’ like a rockstar/wild bettor – most of my bets are $1-5-$20 up to $100 and rarely more than that, at this stage. I have a portfolio of dozens of bets, like over 100+ different plays I’ve made so far for the 2024 season. I am not getting overexposed to any one thing, I’m trying to get a basket of bets, like a mutual fund or index fund basket of stocks/bets and see if I can beat the house more than they beat me...I want to see if I can beat the S&P 500 or money market returns.
I’ll show everyone what I’ve done/bet on...and I’ll explain some of my techniques on the more complicated bets in this ‘Betting’ area of FFM.
#2: Early release Betting Video Podcasts for members.
We plan to shoot Bet The Close/Betting shows (discussions, debates) for release to the members first to allow them to work with the information early and make plays ahead (the videos may get released public late in the week or the week after for folks to see what it is w. Some combination of myself (RC) and Chris and Andrew will be on those shows weekly.
And Andrew, Chris, and I shot a 3-hour+ video event for season long bets (division winners. Win total O/U, awards, etc.) and single player props and various parlays, etc. And I gotta say it was probably the best show we’ve ever had – chock full of research, debate, great bets…and coming up with bets on the spot (I bet several items during the show). This show will be available to the ‘betting’ subscribers on the debut day of the ‘Betting’ Subscription launch.
#3: Betting info, tidbits, etc., daily...
All week, I put various betting tidbits and ideas in a streaming page for people to look at...prop and game plays I’m considering, great info that I get in from our analysts or hot rumors from the outside, etc. I used to put all those items on the main FFM website...now, those streaming Betting notes will be on the ‘Betting’ area/subscription of FFM.
Our Betting experts Bet The Close Chris Bilello and Andrew DFS, along FFM super-scout Ross Jacobs will be sharing their information, and making comments and answering questions as well throughout the week.
All our expert’s weekly ALL GAMES straight up win, Survivor, and ATS picks will be housed on the ‘betting’ area -- on a spreadsheet you can access and see all our FFM analyst’s picks and season long results...to see which analysts are hot or not.
Those above three things are the foundational ideas of the ‘Betting’ subscription, but several other items are being considered, in development, will be trialed, etc., as we go. It’s a new feature debuting for its first year...so, we’ll see what stuff gets thrown on the wall and sticks (or not).
The entire effort is to help bettors get information to consider for their research in efforts to make betting profits...and to pay for the subscription price and much more.
================================
...and then we have another venture at the same time...something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but couldn’t find the right/easy/smart/highly accessible place to do what we wanted to do. But we now believe we have the right solution...
(2) The FFM Private Chat/Club
We’re opening up an FFM private chat world on a platform some of you may use all day/every day while others have no idea what it is...or only know of its existence because your kids use it (like me) – we are going to have our own Discord server/private group for fantasy and betting enthusiasts.
Discord is a where you can post topics/questions/idea and the other members can weigh in on the topic as they wish. It’s all self-contained, a ‘for members only’ area to exchange ideas and info and thoughts and sarcasm about football things.
We wanted to have a place where like-minded FFM folks could gather and collaborate or just hang out and goof about the night’s game or get help/opinions on FF or betting things.
Our plan is to use this Discord site for the following kinds of items/ideas...
-- Considering a trade in your league but aren’t sure about it? Post the question (with details) into the chat as a topic, and then people can weigh in on their thoughts.
-- Want to watch the solo night games and chat (text) along with others who are watching it, or just follow/read what others (like me) are chatting (text) about the game...we plan for there to be a chat for solo night games, at a minimum, if folks are enjoying the hang.
-- Want to know how much FFMers are planning on bidding on FAABs...or how much their league did on Tuesday night when you have your FAAB waivers on Weds/Thurs?
-- Considering a specific bet...see what others are thinking on it, or if they are betting it, etc.
-- When any of our FFM analysts have hot info...they can drop it in here in real-time.
That’s just a few of the ideas/plans we foresee – but can you imagine all the other possibilities on the exchange of info and ideas from the FFM community!?!
You don’t have to be a bettor to make use of just the FFM Discord/Private Chat Room functionality. It’s open to all football wants and needs, but closed the public...it’s just for FFM ‘Betting’ subscribers.
We’re jumping into the Discord world with both feet, and on the fly -- and I am learning how to use it just like many people will be. It’s pretty simple to follow along with...just takes a moment or two to figure out where everything is...like checking into a new hotel room and getting your bearings on everything.
I’m planning on making a video asking the dumb questions of my son (the expert and page manager) and he will answer my/newbie questions, so you get the benefit of learning from my ignorance. But I’ve been through a session with him...it’s pretty easy once you know the lay of the land and mess around with it for a bit.
Access to the FFM Discord will be granted ONLY to subscribers of our ‘Betting’ subscription. Once you sign up, I have to get your Discord username and send you an exclusive private invite into ‘da club’. You email me, or I email you (check spam if not pretty quickly after sign up) with your Discord username, and we’ll open the velvet ropes for you and you can come on in via a private link emailed back to you.
Download the Discord phone APP...and/or download the App on your computer as well. Set up a simple username and password account ahead so we can get your username and send you the invite.
The Discord thing is all new to me, it’s an open frontier to become what the members make of it. FFM analysts will all be in there as well. God help us all as we get ready to surge this new frontier!
The Betting subscription will be $45 for our debut year -- and you can add it on through your existing FFM account when we open it up. It's an a la carte subscription item to add. Subscriptions will end right after the Super Bowl in Feb. 2025, and then we’ll have the renewal options for the new football year ready for March 1st, 2025, or anytime thereafter to run through to the Super Bowl again, and so on.
